I like that singing. Praise the Lord. I'm glad I'm a child of the King. Anybody got a testimony? You got something you feel led of God to do, you help yourself. Amen, love to hear from you if you've got something. God bless you, brother. Amen. We're better because you're here, brother. Amen. I'm glad you're here. The Lord's glad you're here. Amen, love you. Jesus, God bless your heart. Somebody else. Me too. Yeah. Yeah. yes god bless your heart so you have got places somebody else you get an impression to obey the lord come over the show you have to say yet Amen. That's right. Yes. Amen. That's right. Bless your heart, brother. Amen, brother. Something to brag about. Something to brag about. Sure. Yeah. God bless you. Amen. God bless your heart, brother. Thank God, amen, glad you're here tonight. Come on, brother. Yep. Go away, yep. I am too. Amen. Yeah. That's right. Amen. Amen. Yes, sir. Bless his name. Yes. That's right. That's right, dear brother. God bless your heart. Amen. Glad to see you again tonight. God bless you. Praise the Lord. That's well said. Somebody else, you obey the Lord. Amen. Praise the Lord. That's that common ground they're talking about, the familiarity of the Spirit. Amen. I thank God for that. And we're different in many ways, personality, age, sometimes culture, sometimes our preference, different in many ways. There's one thing that brings us together tonight, puts us on common ground, and that's the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. I remember in the scripture, when Jesus came to John to be baptized, to fulfill the scripture, and John said, I have need to be baptized of thee. We have one common need tonight, and that's the Lord Jesus Christ. We may be different in a lot of ways, but we're the same in that way. We need the Lord. Amen. We need him just like John needed him. None born of woman any greater than John, but he needed the Lord. Amen. I'm so glad to be here tonight. All hearts satisfied. Anybody else got anything? All right, it's a blessing to be here. Thank God for each testimony. I appreciate the testimony of the saints of God, the message, of the man of God. I tell you, that's what this world needs. We're hitting a lot of racket in this world, and I'm like Preacher Sean tonight. I'm glad I'm familiar with the sounds coming from another country. Amen, I appreciate the good spirit of God. That's what makes church church. You see, we can come together and do a lot of things here tonight, a lot of churchy things, religious things. We can sing songs and go through all the robotic motions of church, but until the spirit of God arrives and shows up, it's not really church. And I'm so grateful tonight The Spirit of God is not a stranger at Antioch Church. It's just a blessing to be here and a blessing to be able to be in God's house. Appreciate all of our visitors coming. Real quickly tonight, I want to preach a thought to you real quickly. I know we've got to take care of some business, so I'm going to do my very best to be as brief as possible so we can get that taken care of and be as time conscious as I can, but we do have a burden to preach this tonight out of Romans chapter number 10, very familiar chapter in the Bible. A lot of quoted verses come out of this chapter. You know, I've been criticized a lot in recent years that I'm not much of an advocate of the Roman road crowd. I don't know how you feel about that, but nobody's ever been Roman roaded into heaven. And there's a lot of folks that believe that you can get it that way. But what I preached this morning, I believe, was preached 100 years ago, was preached 50 years ago in this building, 25 years ago in this building, and it was preached again this morning. It still takes Holy Ghost-convicting power to draw a man to Christ. He must come to him under the wooing of the Spirit, and he must express faith in the Lord that he didn't even muster himself. That faith was given him as God had dealt every man the measure of faith. People that say, well, you know, you had a little bit to do with it. Now, I beg to differ with you. We didn't have anything to do with it. You see, we can't even come to him until he draws us. Amen. The Bible says, faith cometh by hearing, hearing by the word of God. We can't even respond to the word of God until he sends a message. Amen. We can't respond in our heart until our heart's broken, and he has to do that. So when it's all said and done, if it hadn't been for God, none of us would be saved tonight. Amen. He deserves all the credit. It all came from him. We didn't have anything to do with it, and we ought to be praising him with every breath that we have, that he had enough mercy and grace towards us that we could be saved tonight. Out of Romans 10, I want to read some verses. Start reading in verse number 12, the Lord being our helper. The Bible says, for there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe on him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things. but they have not all obeyed the gospel, for as I saith, Lord, who hath believed thy report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes, verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. Now, I'll say this tonight, the preacher, the real man of God, being the most hated individual in this country, and in this world, and it's not just because he carries the title of a preacher, it's because he carries a message from another country. And it's the message they despise, not necessarily the preacher. The Bible says, how can two walk together except they be agreed? And so, men and women don't walk with the preacher these days because they cannot walk with the Bible. They disagree with God's word. That's why they disagree with the preacher. That's why they disagree with your testimony. That's the reason they disagree with your stance on righteousness and sin and what the church has stood for down through the ages. That's why they disagree. It's because they disagree with God. So two cannot walk together in fellowship except they be agreed, so says the word of God. So there is a need tonight for old time preaching. We have a need for old time preaching in America. It was said this morning in our devotion, Brother Steve done a wonderful job, I bragged on him all day for the devotion this morning. It was mentioned on the radio program this morning. So we've been reminded all day long that it's gonna take more than a political party to fix America. It's gonna take more than a presidential candidate to fix what's wrong with our country. What's wrong with our country goes far beyond economics and politics. It's a heart problem that we have tonight. It's a heart issue, a blood issue. That's what's wrong with mankind. We're at odds with God. You see, we were born wrong and man has been trying to fix God ever since man has been here. We've become a worshiper of the creature rather than the creator. Man has chosen to regard not God in his heart. You see, every move that man has made, he's made deliberately. He's made on purpose. For the Bible says that there was a time when God winked at our ignorance, but now commandeth men everywhere to repent. You see, we don't have no excuse anymore for ignorance. We can't make room for ignorance. So every decision we've made and what we are at this present moment, is a result of every deliberate choice we've made in our own lives. So I say unto you that you are what you are at this present moment because of every choice you've ever made in your life. You're a result of that this evening and that's have what you are. People do what they wanna do. I say that often. They come to church if they want to and they stay at home if they want to. The Bible says study to show yourself approved unto God. I believe that's a responsibility of every born again Christian. I don't believe that's just a preacher qualification. I believe every child of God ought to educate themselves and saturate their heart in the word of God. There's an old song in that church hymnal that says, I want to know more about my Lord. And the only way I'm gonna know more about him is to drop my anchor in the word of God and let it guide me and light my path and guide my heart. Friend, I don't understand it all. but I can't exercise faith in what I do understand. I can put into practice what I do know. And friend, God'll help me with what I don't understand. We've made excuse, my friend, for what we don't know and what we can't understand and what we can't accomplish, friend. I'll say this tonight, them old-fashioned basics, that's kept the church glued together down through the ages of time. I'm talking about love and mercy and faith. I'm talking about prayer and grace. I'm talking about old time preaching, singing and shouting. These old basic things that we've played to down through the years. It'll still work in 2020, right in the middle of a pandemic, right in the middle of perilous days, right in the middle of a great forsaking of God. All them old time ways will still work in the house of God. We don't need more education, my friend, or liberation, friend tonight, people today. They don't need whitewashed. They need regenerated by the Word of God. They need a born again experience. They need to be where the power of God is. A friend, that old Philippian jailer in Acts 16, he wasn't too interested in being saved. until the men of God got plugged into the glory world. And when they went to singing and praying, and the Spirit of God sent an earthquake through that place, and the Bible said he came in, call it for a lie, and trembling, and said, sirs, what must I do to be saved? Amen. Praise the Lord, that's what we need in America tonight. We need an earthquake in our land. Praise the Lord, we need the church to get plugged into the powerhouse. We were challenged this morning if the power's gone out, what are you gonna miss the most? I like that, Brother Steve, that's pretty good. Hey, man, I tell you, when I come in here this evening, I got here before any of y'all did, Hey man, when I come in the door in order for me to see clearly, I had to flip the switch, I had to turn the light on in order for me to see. And in order for us to clean up what's in the dark, somebody's gonna have to turn the light on in the house, amen. Aren't you glad of the light this evening? I don't like darkness. I'm not talking like I'm scared of ghosts. I ain't afraid of ghosts. I just don't like darkness. God called me out of darkness. And there's marvelous light. I want the light to be on. Amen, down at the church. I want the candle to be lit. Down there where the people of God are, brother Sean. My friend, where children can come in. and feel like they've been affected by the power of God. So many sinners come in and out of our church services, and they're not affected, they're not moved, they're not troubled. People's getting too comfortable in church. French sinners ought to feel out of place. They ought to get sick at their stomach. I tell you, if our kind of worship don't get them in or get them out, we need to trade it off for something else. Amen. I want to be the kind of preacher that either makes you mad or makes you glad. Amen. And if my preaching ain't doing that to you, then there's something wrong with me. I'm persuaded of that. Amen. I've had people say, now you get too loud for me. You get too loud for me. It ain't because I'm loud. They don't like it. And it's not because I run around sometimes. They don't like it. It's what I'm preaching about they don't like. Amen. It's the power that it comes in they don't like. That's what makes them uncomfortable as long as I keep sinners on their heels. Hey man, hunting the back door on the way out, I figure I'm doing something, amen. I told these preachers down at Hog Grove many a time, if you ain't stirring the water and making the devil mad every once in a while, you ain't preaching enough. You ain't studying enough, you ain't praying enough. Hey man, you ought to make the devil mad every time you preach. You ought to stir the water up every time you stand. And I want to remind us one more time, testifying is not moaning and groaning about what's wrong with the world. Testifying is glorifying the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, bragging on the goodness of God. Amen, telling God one more time how much you love him in the public assembly and letting the world know you've been numbered among the living. Hallelujah. Amen. Praise the Lord, I get enough of that singing of the blues Monday through Saturday. If you hang around my house, you probably hear me sing a tune of them blues every once in a while. Brother Max, I left a 55-gallon drum worth of problems over at my house. I don't know about you, but I imagine it'll still be there when I get back. Amen. A preacher's not exempt from the storms of life. No, sir, neither is his wife. I ain't never seen a day in time when church folks try to kill a preacher by attacking his wife. Amen. I love that woman over there. She beats up on me pretty good every once in a while, Brother Sean. Amen, she's my best fan and my greatest critic, too. She tells me when I went too long and I said too much and when I didn't have it, and I appreciate that. She'll tell me when it was right and when it was wrong, and I like that, amen. Praise the Lord, and it's about like my kids. I had to stand between them and a freight train this evening, and a man ain't worth his salt if he wouldn't do that with his own family. Amen, but I want to tell you something tonight, friend. Amen, the preacher is still the most hated individual in this world tonight as long as he's preaching the Word of God. Whenever preachers is getting along with the world, we've got a problem. Amen. Praise the Lord. The Bible said that Pilate was willing to content the people. I believe Pilate knew deep down in his soul, not just in his brain, but in his soul, that this man he was dealing with was different. I'm not saying that he ever got saved. I'm saying he had enough knowledge to know that that man that he was putting on trial before him wasn't no ordinary man. Amen. And he examined him for himself and said, I find no fault in this man. Oh, praise the Lord. Amen, isn't that amazing that Pilate could be a better witness for the Lord than a lot of us can? Amen, a lot of people today examine the Lord and find all kind of problems with it. Amen, I'm like Brother Cook, if the Apostle Paul or Jesus Christ himself come in this church building and tried to preach to us, this whole community would probably throw him out on their head. Amen. Brother Paul, I've had people all down through time of my life since I've been preaching to them. That's hard preaching. That's hard preaching you're doing. You've heard me say this all the time. There ain't no such thing as hard preaching. It's either preaching or it ain't. It's either Bible preaching or it's not. No such thing as hard and easy preaching. There ain't no two kinds. There's just one kind. It's either preaching in the Holy Ghost or it ain't preaching at all. And let me put it to you like this. I can't preach it any plainer or any straighter or any harder than John the Baptist or Jesus Christ himself. Amen. It's more plain and more bold and more hard than you can ever get it when you read it for yourself Hey man, between the lids of this blessed old book. Hey man, every time I read it and I study it, I realize it's talking straight to me. Not to y'all, but to me. That's when the Bible helps us. When it ain't talking to y'all anymore, now it's talking to me. Amen. I like that. I like it when I can open that book and it's talking back. That's when we get plugged in. Praise the Lord. Now I keep finding nuggets all the time. Brother Sean, I look at this book and there's some days I feel like reading it, some days I don't feel so much like reading it. But I try to get in there and read it. A little bit every day. Sometimes I see something big, sometimes I see something little. Amen. God, give me a little something and I'll slide that down in my shepherd's bag. Praise the Lord. Just like Elijah, when he fell asleep, the angel woke him up. Rise and eat. Amen, the journey's too great for you. God's got a little sustenance for us tonight that'll help us along the journey, but we're gonna have to get plugged in the right source. We need old time preaching in our lives. And it's not because I'm a preacher. You realize that God's gonna get the message out whether I try to preach or not. Every preacher in this building quit, turn their papers in, go to the house, and God will raise up a man that will preach his word. Amen. Antioch Church can padlock the door, call them up and turn the power off. God will raise up a church somewhere. Amen. And he shall find faith when he returns. Bless his name. So I don't brag on preaching because I'm a preacher. I brag on it because it's right. I brag on it because the Bible said how beautiful are the feet of them that bring it to us. Amen. Praise the Lord. Most precious treasure we have is the man of God, but yet he's the most hated in this land today. Amen. We need old time preaching because people today is trying to replace what God put in the church with substitutes. You know, when the Spirit of God moves out of a church, that group of people start trying to replace the Spirit of God with other things. They do it every time. Amen. Over in Jeremiah, Jeremiah told the people what God said through the prophet. He said, you have forsaken me. You've committed two evils, he said. You have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and you've hewn me out cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah chapter two. Amen. You know what people will do every time they forsake God? They'll go and make them another one. They'll make another God. Every time they forsake the true and living God, they'll create themselves another God. He had just in chapter 1 preached on the Isles of Chittim. He said, them people are pagans. They're a bunch of apostates. They've got graven images. They're worshiping the sun and the moon. They're sacrificing their own children over there on them islands. He said, go over there and look and see and consider their ways. Consider what they're doing. He said, have you ever seen such a thing over there? What he was saying was, Brother Sean, They were more committed to a dead pagan god, more faithful, my friend, to a dead pagan god than God's people were to him. What a shame it is against our testimony tonight that the Catholic world and the Islamic world is more dedicated to what they do than what we do. Amen. That's what the preacher was saying. He said even the pagans is more faithful than y'all are. Amen. Hewn out cisterns and they're broken cisterns. They can't hold any water. That's why we're thirsty a lot. That's why we're empty a lot. It's because we've got a hole in the tank. We need to get it fixed. We need to go to the repair shop. We need real good overhauls is what we need. Praise the Lord, one of them sin-killing revivals. You know, we've replaced good old time singing. I'm not against singers tonight. I'm not against singing groups if they'll stay in the spirit of God and live right. I'm not against that, but I tell you, tonight we've traded off what we've had around here tonight for professional stuff. We have. I can look on TV and see a lot of this professional stuff going on today that has to do with gospel, whatever, and you've got an old gray-headed generation now stomping their feet to a bunch of stuff that don't make sense. That troubles me. That concerns me and it ought to concern you. Amen. Whenever amazing grace don't stir us up anymore, Amen, whenever we turn over in that church hymn, I'm saying I'm redeemed, I'm redeemed by love divine and that don't stir our heart. Amen, we turn over 247 saying I've traded the old cross for a crown and that don't turn your heart upside down and you need some kind of beat or rhythm just to keep you excited at church, you're tuned to the wrong station, that's what's wrong with you. Amen, we need to say there's power in the blood one more time. Amen, amazing grace, one more time. Praise the Lord, oh the glory did roll, one more time. Treasures unseen, one more time. Amen, lift our heads toward glory, make a joyful noise unto the Lord, and sing praises unto him. And when we do that, he said he would inhabit the praise of his people. Amen. Praise the Lord. I ain't been here two weeks, y'all might wanna run me off right now. Just go ahead and run me out of here. Praise the Lord. I hope you agree. Praise the Lord. But I ain't preaching to make fans. I ain't preaching to make enemies. And I didn't reckon I had a whole lot of fans when I started. And I sure don't have them now. I've told people this all the time. I thought when I started preaching that everybody in the world would come hear me preach. And I had all kind of buddies at school and I thought, boy, they'll all wanna come hang out over at the church with me now. Boy, what a fool I was. Boy, I really thought everybody loved me. And thank God that I was a changed man. Lord, I found out real quick. I'll say this to you tonight. If you got friends, ain't but a few. I want you to think about that a minute. There's a lot of folks we call friends, but we use that term kind of loosely. I'm talking about real friends. And if you've got any, it ain't but just a handful. Amen. And I thank God for the ones that got. Praise the Lord. There's been some that stuck with me down through the years. Amen. There's been some that shouted with me. There's been some that corrected me. Amen. There's been some that wished I'd have got off their case a little bit, but they've loved me through it all, and I appreciate a good friend, don't you? Praise the Lord. There's a friend that's sticking closer than a brother, the Bible says. Amen. When all else fails, he'll never fail you. Praise the Lord, I tell you we've got professional this and that, we've got comedians, we've got retreats, we've got all these things, movie nights and sleepover nights and everybody's trying to figure out a way to keep people entertained. And that's an indicator tonight that what you really need in church ain't there. That's what that is, that's an indicator. What you really need, what held my mom and papa in the pew, ain't working anymore because what held them there has moved out, because we traded it off for some new, finagled way. Thank God for that old-time way of preaching. Old-time way of singing and shouting. Why do we need preaching the old-time way? Well, it attacks the conscience. I'm not talking about intellectual speeches tonight. See, my mama was saved, and she could have give you a good talk, but she wasn't no preacher. You know, there's a lot of people that can give you a good talk tonight, and that's good, and I appreciate a good testimony. I bragged on Sister Jean since last Sunday night, and that testimony, that has fed me all week long. You just don't know. You don't know how blessed I've been just by you getting up and doing what you did Sunday night. You might think what your little part is don't mean something, but you're probably feeding somebody in this building. And they may never say anything about it, but if God gives you something, you just go ahead and do it. Go ahead and do it, because you put fuel in my tank, lady, and I sure do love you for that. I chewed on that, she's bragged on you, and I thought, bless the Lord, oh my soul, I'm glad there's some saints of God that got a burden to do something for the Lord and want to stand up for Him. Amen, even the preacher needs a good stirring and encouragement every once in a while. Amen. Keep doing what you do. The Lord will bless somebody for it. He'll bless you for it. Amen. We need old time preaching because it awakens the conscience. See this intellectual itch. You remember last week when I preached on they shall not endure sound doctrine, but heap to themselves teachers having itch in the ears. You know what that is? That itch is an intellectual itch. They want to hear something fancy. They want to hear something that will wow them. that'll take their thoughts far off, you see. Amen, and blow their mind. I wanna get above your head with some of this deep theological thinking. Oh, I tell you, the Apostle Paul had all that stocked up and stockpiled. Amen, but you know what he referred to? Old time preaching. Amen, he could have wowed old King Agrippa over there, but instead he said, well, amen. Instead of giving him all that intellectual stuff from the law, you know what he said? Well, I was on the road to Damascus. Amen. And I saw a light and I heard a voice. Praise the Lord. Amen. Almost, he said, thou hast persuaded me to be a Christian. I'm gonna tell you, the only thing that's gonna persuade anybody to be a Christian is the testimony of the saving grace of God. Amen. They're trying to feed an intellectual itch today and it's not working. It's producing a bunch of religious robots. That's what's happened in the church today. So we need old time preaching to awaken the conscience. That's what's wrong with us in here, you see. The conscience has gotta be awakened, and that it might realize that this is not just a joke or a game or a play thing, but that God is truly speaking to them. And so we need to preach it to awaken the conscience. Now, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, and I'm done, I'm about to close. Now, I want you to think about this a minute. Faith came long before preaching. Think about that. Oh, way back yonder, the father of our faith, Abraham, and his faith was accounted unto him for righteousness. Abraham didn't have a gospel preacher like you and I. So these people that say you gotta have a preacher to have faith, now I want to be abundantly clear here. It does come through preaching, because the Bible was very explicit and very clear that faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. And the preacher has to preach, and he cannot preach except he be sent. We know all these things to be true. So the faith, the gospel faith, the new dispensation faith, the church age faith has to come through the hearing of the word of God. So in order for you to get saved, a preacher must be involved somewhere. Somewhere, there's people that say, you know, I got sung into heaven. No, you didn't. Nobody got sung into heaven. Nobody got, and I'm not against Sunday school, but you didn't get Sunday schooled into heaven. Amen, if you got into heaven, it came by hearing of the word of God, and the only way you heard it is through the preaching. Somehow, some way, a preacher was involved. Amen. Now faith cometh by hearing. I want you to understand something tonight. Faith came long before preaching. So what is the Bible really telling us here? What is that word of God? It's not my voice that you need to hear. And when I say a preacher must be involved, where does the preaching come from? It doesn't come from Brother Justin. It didn't come from Brother Howard. It doesn't come from Brother Jeff or Brother Sean. Where does the preaching come from? It comes from on high. The preacher is up there. The preacher is the Spirit of God. The Pope said a while ago, he explained it very clear and very well to us. It's the Spirit of God that makes these things alive. Amen, it's a dead letter to the Spirit of God makes it alive. So the preacher's up yonder. So how did faith come before preaching? I'm gonna tell you, it's not by hearing the preacher's voice, it's by hearing the uttered voice of God in your heart. Amen. You see, I'm glad I heard Raymond Cook all the way up those 13 years before I got saved. I'm glad I didn't have a phony pastor. I'm glad he was preaching and not playing. But the night I got saved, it wasn't Raymond's voice I heard. It was the voice of God that I heard. It was the uttered word of God that caused me to exercise faith in the finished work of the cross. Amen. So God does use us as a tool, amen, to get your heart mushy enough for you to hear his voice, amen, to break you down, break the fallow ground in your heart. That's why a preacher needs to be involved. But remember, faith came long before preachers can. Faith came long before a printed Bible can. Huh? Amen. That's right. You see, a lot of times we get all wrapped up and think, you know, we gotta tote one of these under our arm and wear a suit and a tie, and we gotta do all these certain little things and do them right, you know. Amen, and be good and religious. Oh, but that's not where it comes from tonight. It comes from a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It comes from the uttered word of God, the power of God, and that old time preaching, you know what it does, it manifests the raw power of God, the presence of God, it makes it real in your heart. I'm so glad I was born in the church age. The Spirit of God came upon people in the Old Testament. He came to them, and even in the Old Testament, he would go away from people. See, you don't have to worry about that now. If you're saved and the Spirit of God's in you, the Bible said the witness is in you. Amen, you belong to him, you don't even belong to yourself. In other words, if you got saved, you couldn't get lost if you wanted to. Amen, but in the Old Testament, Saul, the spirit of God was upon Saul. God anointed Saul as king, but at some point in time, Saul got out of favor with God and the spirit withdrew from him. Ain't you glad you're in the church age? I am. See, the spirit of God didn't dwell people back then, Brother Jeff. He just went upon people. He moved upon them. But today if you get saved, he comes in there and sets up a living in your house. Moves the furniture in, puts his name over the doorpost. Amen. Occupied. Praise the Lord. I sure am glad I'm saved in the church age and that I know him in the free pardon of sin. I'm glad I heard the preacher one day in my heart. It's a 13-year-old boy, and I got saved, and I ain't been lost a day since, been saved every day since that day. Amen, I'm his property, I belong to him, and it don't matter how loud the devil howls and growls. Amen, one of these days, like Brother Raymond always said, I'm gonna stumble across the finish line, to stumble no more, I'll be home forevermore, and the devil will say and do whatever he wants to, and his crowd will say and do whatever they wanna do, I'm gonna be with him. And it's all because of what he did for me, nothing I did for him. Amen, so I've got every right to praise him, every right tonight to brag on him, and I say tonight that when we go down this Roman road in Romans chapter 10, we need to really get on the road. Amen, and find out what it's telling us tonight. Praise the Lord.
