Exodus chapter 25, begin reading in verse eight. And let them, this is the Lord speaking to Moses there at Sinai, let them make me a sanctuary that I may dwell or a tabernacle among them. According to all that I show thee after the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall you make it. And we've looked in the book of Hebrews, that all these things were, it was a tabernacle made by hands, but it was a tabernacle, it was a dwelling, a picture of something much, much, much, much greater. So in verse 10, and they shall make an ark. We've been studying specifically since January, and it's now almost May, the ark of God. And it has many names, and we began studying the names of the Ark. And we studied it was the Ark of the Testimony, or the Witness, the Ark of the Witness, and Jesus Christ himself is the Witness of God. We studied last time that the Ark was known as the Ark of the Covenant. We saw that, the Ark of the Covenant, and God's covenant his promise, his agreement with man is Jesus Christ. It's not based on him. It is him, right? That God manifested himself in the flesh and the rest flows from that. So this time we're looking at specifically out of Joshua chapter 3 and verse 13. And this is, and we're gonna read the broader passage here in just a few minutes, but this is just before the children of Israel cross over Jordan, okay? In Joshua chapter three and verse 13, and it shall come to pass as soon as the souls of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, that they shall rest the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come down from above, and shall stand upon a heap." So the title of the message today is the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. So it came up yesterday, the idea of, and the phrase came up, a systematic theology, systematic theology. So an understanding of of who God is, right? What creation is, what it's for, who man is, what man is, and what the relationship between man and God, right? A systematic theology, right? So Joshua here is speaking to the children of Israel, and he, right here in Joshua chapter three, he's rehearsing the systematic theology Moses he summarized all five books of Moses right there in Joshua chapter 3 Okay, and we're gonna study it a little bit harder a little bit further and it's but it's it's super plain. It's super super simple Okay If we're to understand anything about who God is we have to understand that he is the Lord And you notice it says Lord all caps and this says Lord in that same verse uppercase L lowercase or D right that He is Jehovah, the Lord, the Lord Adonai, the boss, the superintendent, the governor. He's in charge. That's what Lord of all the earth. That means He is indeed sovereign, that He is supreme, that there is none other besides, and there is none other next to or kind of close unto, that He indeed is God, that He is Lord. So understanding that, Really brings a lot of things into focus. Yeah So if we back up Originally, you remember that originally at Beersheba the mountain there they that that Moses had sent in to 12 spies 10 of them gave a false report Two of them said yeah, there's Giants over there. Yes, sir. Whatever God's with us. Let's go get it, right and Two of them had a really good systematic theology, that God created everything, that He had made a promise, that He called a people and He gave it to them. They were depending on God. The others didn't. They had a systematic theology, but it was poor as can be. That they believed God as long as what God said agreed with what they perceived. Now here in Joshua chapter 2, start reading in verse 23. Joshua chapter 2 see the systematic theology here the Lord the ark of the Lord the Lord of all the earth Joshua chapter 2 and begin reading With me there. Let's see. I mean that's a book of Acts. I'm way off Joshua chapter 2 and verse 23 So the two men returned these are the spies coming back from Rahab's house. Okay, and They returned and descended from the mountain and passed over and came to Joshua, the son of Nun, and told him all the things that befell them. They told him everything. Oh yeah, she hit us and we want to lower the thing out and it's going to be great. And they said unto Joshua, truly the Lord Jehovah, the existing one, hath delivered into our hands all the land, for even all the inhabitants of the country do faint because of us. Joshua rose up early in the morning. And they removed from Shittim and came to Jordan. He and all the children of Israel lodged there before they passed over. And it came to pass after three days that the officers went through the host. So, you know, there's argument about those three days. A lot can happen in three days. You might have a really good plan right now. You know and you have ideas and whatever when you got to sit and think about something for a few days Sometimes the the hotness sometimes that the excitement wears off, but they sat for three days and they meditated upon the Lord the Lord of all the earth think about this and they commanded the people saying when you see the Ark of the Covenant see that it goes back to to the promises that God had made to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. But what was that based on? Well, God being the infinite Lord, the creator of everything, the Lord of all the earth, he can make a covenant with whoever he wants. He is the Lord, right? These things are intertwined. When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites bearing it, And there's so much here, the priest, and we can examine just the priest in this passage and see the Lord Jesus Christ going before his people, we'll save that for another time. And ye shall remove from your place and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about 2,000 cubits in measure. Come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go, for ye have not passed this way heretofore. So here, you see just a glimpse, he's giving us just a hint of the Lord. The Lord of all the Earth. Do you think there's anything in this creation you don't understand? I mean, that's a silly question, isn't it? Do you think there's anything in your life that you're not prepared for? Well, the Lord, the Lord of all the Earth says, step back, step aside, Will go in front of you. I've got it all worked out. I am the Lord the Lord of all the earth You haven't been here before I will go before you and you will know the way because I am the Lord the Lord of all the earth Joshua said unto the people sanctify yourselves where tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you well Think about that too the previous generation that had seen all the signs and wonders in Egypt except for Joshua and except for Caleb, they're all dead. And the ones that were younger, younger than 20, now they're grown, but the generation of adults, they're all dead. Now these wonders, he's gonna, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, he will do wonders in their sight. Joshua speaking to the priest saying, take up the Ark of the Covenant. The agreement that God made with Abraham, with Isaac, with Jacob, and now had expressed it openly to the nation of Israel and passed over before the people and they took up the Ark of the Covenant. See how he keeps reminding, Ark of the Covenant, Ark of the Covenant, Ark of the Covenant, Ark of the Covenant. The Ark of the agreement that God made with his people that he would save them and bring them unto the place. And it went before the people. And what was said in Joshua, this day will I bring, that I will begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel. He's going to show Joshua, that man is a leader. That they may know that as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee. And thou shalt command the priests that bear the Ark of the Covenant, saying, When ye come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ye shall stand still in Jordan. And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the Lord your God. Hear the words of the Lord God, the Lord of all the earth. And Joshua said, Hereby you shall know the living God, the God, the Lord of all the earth, the living God is among you. You'll know it. When you think about a systematic theology, do you know that the living God is among you? And that he will without fail, the living God, the Lord of all the earth, without fail, Drive out from before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Jebusites. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. See there, He made a distinction between His people and everybody else, didn't He? Well, He don't have the right to do that. See what I mean about having a systematic theology? The Lord, He doesn't have a right to judge anybody. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, makes a distinction between His people and everybody else. nobody can say that he won't because it says without fail he's going to do it. Systematic theology. Behold the Ark of the Covenant. Did he make a covenant with the Gergesites and the Amorites and the Jebusites? Well, he committed a covenant to himself that he'd wipe them out. Did he do that in a good nature, in a good way, that he preserved unto himself a people and called them the Hittites and the Perizzites? Absolutely not. It was Israel, the nation of Israel. Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth passeth over before you on the Jordan. The Lord of all the earth, the chief magistrate, the governor and superintendent, the supreme master of all things, the sovereign living God, he goes before you. Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, and we'll touch on that in a moment, out of every man of tribe. And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off from the waters that come from above, and they shall stand upon a heap. the Lord of all the earth. The repetition again of the phrasing of the Ark of the Covenant calls us back immediately to the promises and pledge of God toward man and Jesus Christ. That covenant was there with God a long time before anything was made that was made. He had a covenant with himself that he would call, the lamb slain from before the foundation of the world, you know, that he was always designed to come from the loins of Abraham. He was always designed to do that. When I say designed, it was always purposed by God that Jesus Christ, the lamb slain from before the foundation of the world, be born of a woman of the seed of Abraham. That eternal covenant. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, that pledge that was made verbally by the mouth of God to Abraham in Genesis chapter 12, and it was ratified there in chapter 15. I will give you this land. In chapter 17, I will change your name and your lineage shall be circumcised. You're mine. You will have a son. This time next year, you will have a son. His name will be Isaac. Take thine son, thine only son. God was not ignorant of Ishmael, but the son Isaac. You see, the promises of God, the pledge of God cannot be separated from God himself. So when they speak of repeatedly the ark of the covenant, we're learning today of the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, but it's inseparable from the covenant of God, from God himself. It's who he is. People misunderstand religion. They have a bad systematic theology because they don't know who God is. They don't know who He is. He is the Lord, Jehovah, the existing one, the Lord, superintendent, sovereign, supreme, governor, magistrate over all the earth. That clears up every piece of questionable religion that's out there. This scene of crossing over Jordan, going over. That land of Canaan was not yet conquered. Look, he says, I will go there. I will drive out from before you. The previous generation had seen the exodus again. They'd seen the signs and they were at Mount Sinai. They felt it quake. They said to Moses, go speak to God lest we die. They saw many signs and wonders. Now this generation, they're going to see some pretty amazing things. Which was greater? Let me ask you that. Which was greater, all those plagues in Egypt or the realization of the promises of God? Which would be greater to see? The creation, the very dawning of light that shined out of darkness or the light that shined out of darkness in your own soul? That's right. You see, if He's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, and we're in the earth, He is the Lord of all, including us. There's not one thing he's not Lord over, you see. Nothing escapes the Lordship of the Lord. The Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, and the Gergesites, and all the other ites, they didn't escape the Lordship of the Lord, did they? Just as Isaac didn't escape the Lordship of the Lord, neither did Ishmael. Just as Jacob did not escape the Lordship of the Lord, neither did Esau. Just as Israel could not escape the Lordship of the Lord in the Passover, neither did Egypt in their firstborn. You see, the Lordship of the Lord covers all. That's part of his designation of being God. It covers all. Sometimes we wish we could experience different signs and wonders in biblical history. In our own salvation, there has never been a greater thing than the Spirit of God making me alive from the dead according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe we're going to see wonders before the coming of the Lord. I do. I don't know to what extent. I mean, John, excuse me, in Revelation saw some pretty terrible things, and it says he wandered at it. He saw a mystery of Babylon the Great, and he wandered at it. And it said he was admiration, not in a good way, in a bad way. Even in John chapter 20, think about this, when the Lord Jesus Christ, Thomas said, unless I see putting my fingers in his hands, and see his side and everything, I won't believe. Yeah, great Thomas, you saw me and you believed. He said, my Lord and my God, great. Blessed are they that haven't seen and they believe. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. What is the purpose of all this? Look at verse 10 again, read it. And Joshua said, why was Israel supposed to know that the Lord, that the ark of the Lord, that He indeed is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth? The same reason we're supposed to. In Joshua chapter three, verse 10, and Joshua said, hereby you shall know that the living God is among you. Right, it's not about the casting out of the enemies, although that would happen. is that the people of God would know who God is and that He is among us. Why is it super important that the children of God have an amazing systematic theology that we would know that God is alive right now and He is among us? That's pretty incredible, isn't it? Jesus said, I'm with you until the end of the age. Well, if we have a good systematic theology, He is alive and He's with us. He's alive. The living God is among us. And that He will, without fail, honor His promises. Without fail, He will drive out from before you all the ites. Without fail, the purpose of the children of Israel having a systematic theology that the Lord is indeed the Jehovah, the existing one, is indeed the Lord of all the earth. They were going to have enemies before them. Notwithstanding, they were going to have dangers. There was animals in there. You know, we studied the book of Nahum a long time ago, years ago. And one of the things that came up was the lions in the area. Remember, there were lions. David killed a lion and a bear over a sheep. There were dangerous animals that maybe they weren't used to in the land of Egypt. Animals they'd probably never seen or heard of before. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, the same Lord that's able to stop that water and push it back and they go over on dry land is the same Lord that was in charge of all animal life and animal this and whatever. They were gonna have hardships. Hills and valleys, he promised it'd be a land of hills and valleys, didn't it? Didn't he? He sure did. But guess what? He's still the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. There's gonna be labor ahead, there's gonna be work. It was gonna be, from the time of the very fall, God, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth promised Adam that with sorrow and sweat and blood, he was gonna till the earth. And now they gotta go to a place that's uncultivated. more or less, and work it. Though the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Jebusites and every other ite, they had lived there. Now they're going to go in and possess. There'll be work involved. Guess what? They were in total dependence of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Why were they afraid to first go in? Because they were not impressed by the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were impressed by giants. They were impressed by high walls and broad gates. They were not impressed by the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. So when they carried the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, they were to be assured of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, the Lord of covenant, the Lord of promise, the Lord of creation, the Lord of calling, the Lord of rescue, the Lord of all. It pleased the Lord. It pleased the Lord that the Lord Jesus Christ shall fulfill all these things. Zechariah, please turn there just for a second. Zechariah, chapter 14. Page 941, Brother White, Brother Adam. Zechariah chapter 14 and verse 9. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth. He'll have absolute reign of dominion. And He does now, but will display Himself as king over all the earth. In that day there shall be one Lord and His name one. without controversy the Lord the Lord of all the earth shall reign From the throne of David there in Jerusalem Having an absolute confidence in The Lord the Lord of all the earth that's what Israel was to have as they went forward and you know as they go as they go forward that that arch gonna stay there and they're the priesthood and everybody's gonna pass by and And then when everybody's done, then the priests are going to come out and then the waters are going to go back. So as they all go by, guess what they all got to look at? They have to look. They get to look. What a wonderful view of the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, that made that way for them to do what they were supposed to do by his precious promises. To have a fine view of the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were to go in and live for the Lord. Because of the covenant that he had made because of him They could have never done it by themselves. They would have never done it by themselves But in the Lord the Lord of all the earth they were able to do that This is a pattern look at this. This is a pattern the Lord the ark of the Lord the Lord of all the earth is a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ and He is indeed the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He is, there's no doubt about this. He has right and privilege as Lord, Lord of all the earth to do exactly what he pleases to do. In the passage before us in Joshua chapter three, it pleased him to make a covenant with his people before his people ever were. It pleased Him to rescue them by the picture of Passover, the blood that so wonderfully pictures Jesus Christ. It pleased Him to carry a rebellious and sinful and wicked people in spite of themselves into a place of promise there, that promised land. And it pleased Him that they would have a fine knowledge that He indeed is Lord of all the earth. People question the idea of Lordship salvation. Well, their systematic theology is terrible. If they don't see that the Lord is indeed Lord of all the earth, then their systematic theology is terrible. Romans chapter 11, being God, He can do exactly as He pleases. He can. In Romans chapter 11, if you would please, in verses 34 through 36, for who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counselor? When the Lord spoke his covenant to Abraham, before that, even in eternity, when the Lord, it's not like there was a time where he changed his mind and said, you know what, I'm gonna do a new thing, I'm gonna make a covenant with Abraham. It was always there. But if you allow me the word time, in the time when God made his covenant with Abraham in eternity, who told him he should do that? Who was there? Who was moving on behalf of either the Lord or Abraham? No one. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Or who hath first given to him? And it should be recompensed unto him again. You know, when people make a build a house, they go out for loans, you know, and they got to go acquire materials and then the contractor and all this kind of stuff. Did the Lord take out a Home Depot credit card? Or did he have to have to, you know, get one of these home builder projects and get things going or earth builder project? No. being the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, he spoke and it was. You see the magnitude of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. For of him and through him and to him are all things. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. So to the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, what's Jordan? What is it to him to stop a body of water? What is it to him to come over to some of these groups of people in this land, Jebusites, Hittites, Hivites, Gergesites, whoever, and drive them out? Do you think he had any anxiety about that? The Lord, the Lord of all the earth doing any of that? Of course not. If I were to prepare some materials this evening after church and say, you know what, I'm going to try some an abatement. I'm going to go out here and put out some of this ant dope. Do you think I would have any anxiety about that? I mean, I don't want to get bit, but it wouldn't really bother me to do that thing. It wouldn't bother the Lord at all to do what he wanted to do, to accomplish his purpose. and accomplish it in his purpose and doing all those things and bringing Israel in and driving the others out for of him and through him and to him are all things. It was the prerogative of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth to do it, to bring in his people, to drive out those that weren't and to drive them out. He can do that. Why? He's the Lord, Lord of all the earth. To whom be glory forever. He brings glory to himself, being the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. That's what Paul said. Amen. Look at that. He said that right there verse number 36. He says amen Amazing the Lord the Lord of all the earth So seeing and that's what I say about a systematic theology seeing the Lord for who he is clears a lot of stuff up If he is that high and that lofty there ain't not one of us that can please him of our own selves Not one Job chapter 38 He is the Lord, and you know what? He expressed Himself here in our passage, in Joshua chapter three, He expressed Himself in the sinful man as the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, that He had made a covenant with for His own glory, for His own good purpose, He did it. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, He can do as He pleases. Job chapter 38, Verses one through six, then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Who do you think you are, pal? Gird up now thy loins like a man, for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. You think you got some questions, buddy? I got some questions for you. Where was thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? The Lord of all the earth says, where were you when I spoke it? Because there wasn't anything when God spoke it. The angels and everything, the host of heaven, everything came after Genesis 1.1. There was nothing there. In the beginning, God, there was nothing but God when he spoke it. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Where were you? Declare if thou hast to understand. I am 44 years old. I'll be 45 in November. So if somebody asked me, where were you 50 years ago? I don't have an answer for them because I wasn't anywhere. Duh. That's my answer. Who laid the measures thereof that thou knowest? Or who hath stretched the line upon us? You're gonna build a house, you gotta measure things out, and you're trying to get the thickness of the mortar and all that. Where's my measuring tool that I use, Job? Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? Or who hath laid the cornerstone thereof? Job, when I made all this thing, when I, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, made the earth, where did I start? Upon what did I build it? You know, if there was a void, that would be something. There was nothing, there was no thing for Him to build upon. And yet He did it. Who laid the cornerstone thereon? In chapter 40 of Job, think about this. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, hear His reasoning with man. Then the Lord answered the Lord and Job out of the whirlwind and said, "'Gird up thy loins now like a man.'" You see, he follows the same pattern here every time I read that. I feel so small. "'Gird up thy loins now like a man, and I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. Without dissing all my judgment, I'm the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. What I say goes.'" Are you going to overthrow that, Job? Is this some kind of government where you think you can undo what I have declared, Job? Man thinks he can do that. Better think again. Better think again. Will thou condemn me that thou mayest be righteous? And Paul says the same thing in Romans chapter 9. Who art thou that replies against God? Who do you think you are? See, He is the God. Hast thou an arm like God? Do you have strength like God? Are you indeed Job the Lord, the Lord of all the earth? Or canst thou thunder with a voice like Him? I can't even, what's it saying, Job? You can't even add anything to your stature. Bobby Brady tried to do that and tried to stretch himself on the Brady Bunch years ago. You can't make yourself taller. You can't change these things. Deck thyself now with majesty. Present yourself like you're the Lord, the Lord of all the earth and excellency. People try to deck themselves with majesty today and they just show themselves to pray. Array thyself with glory and beauty, cast abroad the rage that I wrath, and behold everyone that is proud, and abase them, bring them low. Display yourself as the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Look on everyone that is proud, and bring him low, and tread down the wicked in their place. Hide them in the dust together, and bind their faces in secret. Then will I confess unto thee that thy own right hand can save thee. Then I'll confess, Job, that you're the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, that you got what it takes, but until then, no. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, what are we learning? We're learning that he is exclusive in his person, isn't he? He is wonderful and he can do exactly as he pleases. He is wonderful, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He is wonderful and beyond comparison. There's not even anything close. There is no perspective that you can put near him to gauge how wonderful he is. He is so vastly different than everyone else, than everything else. In Daniel chapter 2, there was a vision that was given, Nebuchadnezzar. And word goes out, hey, we need somebody to interpret this. Daniel. And part of his response in Daniel chapter two, listen to the systematic theology of Daniel and see if it's like the systematic theology of Joshua, which is like the systematic theology of Moses, which may God reveal unto us would be our systematic theology. Daniel chapter two in verse 20. Daniel answered and said, blessed be the name of God forever and ever for wisdom and might are his. They're not shared. They're His. He has all wisdom. He has all ability. He has all might. And He changeth the times and seasons. Think about that. You know, I can think, oh man, it's raining today. I don't want it to rain. I was supposed to do this and I was supposed to do that. Well, could I ever change it? Them Indians think they can go out there and dance and change it. I think it ain't changing anything. The Lord, Lord of all the earth, He changes the times. and the seasons. And you think that, oh, it's spring, you know, things are starting to bud out, it's gonna get warmer. Well, what's the Lord do? Whoop, drops the temperature about 20 degrees and freezes everything out. Who does that? The Lord does that. Not Satan, that's the Lord. He's the Lord of the earth. He removeth kings and setteth up kings. He giveth wisdom unto the wise. So yes, he can change political scenes, But he also saves his people from their sins and grants them wisdom and knowledge in Jesus Christ. And knowledge to them that know understanding. You see? He reveals the deep and secret things. He does what? He reveals the deep and secret things. To who? To whoever he wants. How is it that somebody very intelligent, very bright, very smart, completely ignorant of the things of God, And then you have people that can barely write their own name if they can at all, yet the Lord has opened their heart to the secret and deep things of God and Jesus Christ. How is that possible? The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He dispenses. He knoweth what is in the darkness, can't hide anything from Him. Why? Because He's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. And the light dwelleth with Him. Impressive, huh? I believe it's, He's impressive. Nebuchadnezzar, what was his thought on the matter? Chapter four and verse 34. Daniel chapter four and verse 34. It says, and at the end of the days, I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored him that liveth forever, whose dominion, whose lordship is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom, His supreme governance is from generation to generation. And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing. He indeed is Lord of all the earth. And He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven. Whose will? His will. Why? Because He is the Lord of all the earth. And none can stay His hand or say unto Him, what doest thou? Why? Nobody can question Him with any effect. Why? Because He's the Lord of all the earth. Verse 37, now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol, lift up and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are in truth and His ways judgment, and those that walk in pride He's able to abase. Why? Because He's the Lord of all the earth. You see, in this pattern, for Israel to see that their God that goes before them is indeed the Lord, Jehovah, the existing one, The Lord, supreme superintendent, magistrate, governor of all the earth. Oh, what confidence, what liberation it is. What wonder, what adoration they were to have toward him. What complete and total trust when he says, go over there and take that mountain that they trusting in the Lord, the Lord of all the earth would go over there and take that mountain. You see? He is the Lord of all the earth. So, this ark, it says, in our text, in the book of Joshua, look there again, in chapter three, in verse 13, that the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan. What a picture of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the living ark. of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He is that. They were to look at the ark and think of the Lord, okay? And we're to look at Jesus and think of Jesus. The Lord Jesus Christ, we're to look at Him and be satisfied that He doesn't picture something else. He is the very thing we're to have confidence in. You see, He's not a symbol of something. He is the something. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. In creation, He spoke it, and it was. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He really is. Colossians, if you would, chapter one. In verse 14, in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins, there is none other but Jesus Christ, who is the image or expression, the icon of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. For by him were all things created that are in heaven. and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him, and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, Jesus Christ, He is, He spoke it and it was. So in creation, in the creating of all things, Again, he spoke it once. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Of creation, 2 Peter chapter 5. So not only did he create it, but he has the right to do with it as he pleases. Okay? 2 Peter chapter 3, verses 5 through 7. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old and the earth staining out of water and in the water." So this is before, speaking about the flood. Whereby the world that then was being overflowed with water perished. But the heavens and the earth which are now by the same word, whose word? The word of Jesus Christ, the Lord of heaven and earth. And then we're studying Revelation, right? And these seals, they're being opened. Who's opening them? The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He can do as he pleases. But the heavens and the earth which are now by the same word are kept in store, preserved under fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. Well, who's gonna judge and who's gonna destroy? Who's gonna condemn these ungodly men? The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. in his supreme superintendence and governance. Now I want you, with all these things, again, systematic, line by line, theology, ask yourself some questions. As we think about different religions and what people believe about this or that or whatever, maybe some things even we believe or you believe, ask yourself this question, who made who? Did the Lord make Adam or Adam make the Lord? Who made who? That's pretty simple, right? Michelangelo, when he painted the Sistine Chapel, if you pull up that picture of Adam pointing up to what seems to be God and then God reaching down, if you cut that in half, that seems as though Michelangelo is saying that God is a figment of man's imagination, that man made up God. That's ridiculous. Who made who? Did Adam make the Lord or did the Lord make Adam? I mean, in our own natural perspective, who runs a household? The kids or the parents? Right? The parents, in a physical sense, made the kids. So the kids then are subject to the parents. And that's one reason. Who made who? Of course, Adam. The Lord made Adam. Of course the Lord made Adam. What made what? Did creation make the Lord, or did the Lord make creation? The Lord of all the earth, did he make the creation, or did the creation make him? He made all the creation, right? Adam's part of the creation, or the Lord made the creation. So then, in creation, think about whatever you want. Who set the rules of it? That's what the Lord was asking Job. Who set the rules? Who drew the lines? Who said this? Who said that? Who made this thing this way and this thing that way? Who made this animal loving and caring and thoughtful? And who made the ostrich forsake its own and trampling on the feet? Who made it? Who did it? Who set the rules? Well, was it the Lord or was it Adam? Was it the Lord or was it the bearer? Was it the Lord or was it Leviathan? Well, the Lord did, right? Who sinned against who? Did Adam sin against the Lord? Did the Lord sin against Adam? Based on the rules that the Lord made, who sinned against who? Adam sinned against the Lord, didn't he? See how, if he's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, all these answers come very easily. Who has the power to execute judgment based on those rules being broken? Okay, so now that there's adversity, did the Lord cast out Adam from the garden? Or did Adam cast out the Lord from the garden? Huh? Who had the right to stay and who had the right to cast out? The Lord cast out Adam. Adam, who was subject to the Lord, violated the rule of the Lord and is now being held accountable unto the Lord. The Lord said, you're gonna die. Well, how did Adam stay alive? Who has the power to reconcile? Did Adam have the power to reconcile with the Lord, or did the Lord have the power to reconcile Adam to Him? What did the Lord do? Well, He clothed them, didn't He? How? By the shedding of blood, pointing directly to Jesus Christ. Did Adam come to the Lord with a proposal? No, Adam was wearing fig leaves and would have died and burnt in judgment forever. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth, slew an innocent so that the guilty could live. Well, that's not fair. Take it up with the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Who has the right to judge, the Lord or Adam? Adam, before he was clothed, he was standing there naked, grieving, wasn't he? He had complained against God, that woman you gave me. Well, who had the final say? The Lord did. The Lord was grieved by Adam's sin, meaning he was offended by it. And Adam was offended by the holiness of God. Well, whose offense mattered? The Lord being offended was all that mattered. It didn't matter if Adam was offended or not. Sinner, it don't matter if you're offended or not. You have offended God. He's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. You're not. Who has the final say, the Lord or Adam? Who's sitting on that white throne coming in Revelation chapter 20? Is it Adam or any of the children of Adam? Or is it the last Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ? And what does he base it on? Those written in the Lamb's book of life. Wait, whose book? The Lamb, the Lord of all the earth, His book. It's not written on Joe Newell's book. Thank God it's written in the Lamb's book of the Lamb's book the Lord the Lord of all the earth Who has final power and authority the Lord the Lord of all the earth Romans chapter 9 if you would please a systematic theology knowing who God is everything else flows from that And you know, what do we base what we know about who God is? We base it on His Word, don't we? If you don't have a common ground of the Word of God, if we're not gonna rely on the Word of God for our theology, then what are we doing? Romans chapter nine, verse 14. We know this. Hear it again. What shall we then say? Is there unrighteousness with God? Now that we know that the Lord, He is the Lord of all the earth, does that make Him a bad guy? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. He's not a bad guy for judging some. He's merciful and gracious and loving and kind for having compassion on anybody. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and all deserve the wages of sin, which is death. So then is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He shows mercy. Based on what? Based on his covenant with himself in Jesus Christ. For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. How so? To be the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. In Exodus chapter 12, it says that he overthrew the Egyptians. It also says he overthrew the gods of Egypt. He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Thus hath he, therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy and whom he will he hardeneth. He can harden, yes, he's the Lord of all the earth. That one then saying to me, why doth he yet find fault for who hath resisted his will? Well, how's he gonna blame me for that, you know? If he just decided in his plan that I'm just gonna die in my sins, well, how's that my fault? That's his fault. No. But oh man, who art thou that replies against God? Who do you think you are to be talking smack against the Lord, the Lord of all the earth? You're gonna lay your sin at God's feet? You choose to sin, you are a sinner. Shall a thing form, say to him that formed it, why hast thou made me thus? Is the creature, is man gonna say to the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, ah, you're unfair, you're unkind, I'm gonna overthrow you. Will God ask that to Job? Are you gonna dissent all my judgments? Wait, are you gonna overturn it? Hath not the potter power over the clay? Hath not the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, have say in his governance over his creation? Absolutely. Of the same lump to make one vessel under honor and another under dishonor. And that's something we need to get our minds around, children of God. The best that we, the very best what we are is a pinch off of that old sinful lump that the Lord was pleased to save. That's the best of what I am. I was off that sinful, depraved lump under Adam. And he took of that lump of clay that he formed Adam with, and look, keep reading. What if God wanted to show, hey, let's see, let me go back to 21. Let's say I want to make my own vessel in honor and another in dishonor. What if God wanted to show his wrath as Lord, Lord of all the earth, and to make his power known as Lord, Lord of all the earth, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted or designed or made to destruction. That he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he hath afore, being Lord, Lord of all the earth, prepared unto glory. If he can do that with Israel crossing Jordan, because it is the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, and He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, then He can do that as He pleases with anything. The single most significant event in all the Bible is Jesus Christ dying for His people and rising again. The second most significant event in all the Bible, in my estimation, is the exodus of the children of Israel. It's even greater than the creation. Why? Because it so perfectly demonstrates the love and power of God over all. Nothing is withheld from His design. Nothing is withheld. Nothing is withheld. Then I would surmise that creation after that. Why would I say that? Because you go through the entire Old Testament. Do those prophets, do they look back at the creation and declare Israel to repent? Or do they point them back to the Exodus and how God brought them out of Egypt by the Passover? That's how I justify that answer. Think about that and we can disagree. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. You see, this is comprehensive toward the Lord's people. Look at in verse 12 of Joshua. It's comprehensive toward the Lord's people. Now, some of the tribes, they get more print space. We know more about some of the tribes than others. I mean, honestly, you probably know more about the children of Aaron and Levi and the children of Judah than you would Asher or Issachar, right? I mean, just being honest, we probably know more about them than we do the other tribes. But look in verse 12, now therefore take you 12 men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man. So just as much, and here's what we need to see from that, just as much as the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, will deal with every single person outside of his providential care of grace as he sees fit. He's going to cast out the Jebusites and the Gergesites and the Hittites and the Hippocytes and everybody else. He's going to deal with them. He also with equal love and compassion and care, just as much Judah, just as much Levi, just as much Issachar and Asher and Naphtali and every, what was it, Naphtali, am I saying that right? I don't know. All of them are equally represented before the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. What can we gather from that? That the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, when he loves somebody, he only knows one way of love and he loves them all just the same in Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ died to save his people from their sins. He didn't die more for me. He didn't die more for you. He didn't die less for me or less for you. He died to save his people from their sins. And the Lord, the Lord of all the earth shall save every one of his people alive from their sins unto glory. Why? Because he is the Lord, Lord of all the earth and he will not lose a single stinking one of us. Not one tribe left behind. Not one left in the wilderness. Isn't that great? He can do as he pleases. And he will, he will do as he pleases. Each person of Israel represented They were to fear and reverence the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Each person of Israel, they were to obey the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were to worship, celebrate and commemorate the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were to love the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were to testify generation to generation of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were to populate the earth accordingly. They were to populate the earth. Go forth and multiply in the love and mercy and care of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They were to expect day by day the providential care of God, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. You know, Adam failed in that. Adam was supposed to Adam was supposed to view the Lord as the Lord of all the earth. As the chief superintendent, the magistrate, the superior, the sovereign God. And he failed in that. Noah failed in that. Abraham failed in that. The nation of Israel failed in that. I fail in that. Everybody fails in that. You know who doesn't fail in that? The Lord. The Lord of all the earth. Jesus Christ himself You know, even when I fail he is faithful, isn't that great? That doesn't give me permission to fail or nor does it minimize my failures, but it it should sure encourage us in the Lord the Lord of all the earth That these things aren't so they didn't cross over Jordan because of anything Israel had to do about it They crossed over Jordan because of the Lord the Lord of all the earth You're not going to make it to the realm of glory because of anything that you've done, nor me, or anything I've done. In spite of ourselves, we will arrive at the feet of Jesus according that He is the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Just as much as Israel was to live in such a way, children of God, spiritual Israel, We're to follow after the living ark of the Lord. We are to, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, we are to fearfully reverence him, the Lord of all the earth. We're to obey the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. We're to worship and celebrate and commemorate him, his way and his assembly, the way he said, not the way I say, the way he said, why? Because he's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. We're to love him. And others, the way he says, why? Because he's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. We're to testify generation and generation that Jesus Christ came to seek and save that which is lost. He didn't come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Why are we supposed to do that? Because he's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. And children of God in this assembly, he told us to. Again, we fail, he doesn't. He is the Lord of all the earth. He was going to drive out all their enemies and he will handle all ours He was gonna he was going to be with them through all their difficulties and the Lord and Lord of all the earth He will be with us during all our difficulties All those hills and valleys and all those different animals and and everything the squabbles and all that kind of stuff everything the Lord the Lord of all the earth when Joshua It says in chapter three, it says in chapter three, as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee. Well, as he was with Moses and Joshua, he's with his people today. Why did somebody dethrone him as the Lord, the Lord of all the earth? Did I miss that part of the stuff that happened? I missed it. No, He's with the Lord. He's the Lord, the Lord of all the earth now. And He continues with His people. Lo, I am with you until the end of the age. He was with Peter, James, and John. He was with the next generation. He's with the next generation. He's with the next generation. Moses and Joshua, they had some pretty great promises. I think we stand on better promises based on a better covenant. Jesus Christ himself, he's with us today. The Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Isn't that great? I think it's great. It's wonderful. Children of God, acknowledge the living ark of God, Jesus Christ, the Lord of all the earth. We should adore Him in His supremacy, in His sovereignty, in His significance, in who He is. And as they walk by that ark and they were to continue into the promised land and live by faith, children of God, see Jesus Christ as the living ark of God, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, and live by faith. Have Him in view. How was Israel to acknowledge the Ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth? They were to trust the Lord and do what He says. They were to follow after Him. They were to go into Canaan. They were to go through the hills and valleys. They were to fight the enemies. They were to trust the promises of the Lord. They were to rest in the Lord Himself in all things. And you know the promise that systematic theology that Moses had, all the way back to Genesis chapter 3, of the seed of that woman that would come and stamp the head of that serpent. As you read through the book of Genesis, if that's all you had, and you've never heard it before, okay, you see the seed of the woman, you read a little bit long, well, here's Abel. Oh, he's great. No, he's dead. Oh, yeah, okay, the Lord hit the reset button. Here's Noah. Oh, man, Noah. Oh, well, here they go, here they go. Oh, man, they're building a tower. What's going on? Oh, Abraham, yeah, he's the one. And you see many times Abraham's felons. David, no, David's gotta be the one. No, David's not the one. Can you read through the... New Testament, you come to Jesus Christ very quickly and you see, wow, this is the one. This is the one that was promised to be the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, and make everything right, to make everything pleasing in the sight of God. Jesus Christ is indeed the King, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Isn't that great? Just admire Him. He is by Himself the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. Sinner, one day you will meet this Lord, the Lord of all the earth, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. I would ask you what you will do with Him, but that's not the correct question. The correct answer is what will He as Lord of all the earth, what will He do to you? You can't do much with him. He has right to do everything to you. What will he do with you? What does he have the right to do to you, sinner? Doesn't he have the right to judge and examine you? Doesn't he have the right as the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, being offended by your person and your sin to deal with you accordingly? Doesn't he have that right? Yes, he does have that right. And, you know, as Lord, Lord of all the earth, he also exercises the right of redemption. He also saves his people from their sins. He exclusively does that. There is no other Lord, Lord of all the earth that can save a single person. Satan is referred to as the God of this world, but he's not the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. He is not the Lord of salvation. He's not the Lord of redemption or forgiveness of sins or justification. He's not the Lord of any of that. But there is a Lord. that is mighty to save. And as we read there in Joshua chapter 3, the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, is also the Lord of covenant, making a promise to himself by his own self that he would bring a people unto himself for his own pleasure, by his own power, and for the good of those people. Think of Israel. Think of yourself. Think of how they needed the Lord, the Lord of all the earth. They needed him for rescue. Think of how you need him and he alone for rescue. I encourage you today to fall down and call upon the mercies of the God, the Lord, that is the Lord of all the earth. There is there's no other name whereby you must be saved. There is no other one that can bring such rescue. There is no other one that can deliver you from your sin. There is no other one. But thank God, being the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, doing as He pleases, He is able to save them to the uttermost who come unto God by Him. Hebrews chapter 7 verse 25. Repent. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Call upon the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, who is mighty, and faithful to save his people by the power of God be saved. May the Lord bless the preaching of his word.
