Yes, Father. Father, we have been passing through bad times or difficult times in our life for the past few weeks, but you've calmed the storm, Father. You've enabled us to see that it is only you that we have to depend on, Father. We pray that we may all realize that it is only you who gives us the gift of life and all the good things that happen in our life, Father. I pray this believing and trusting in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Okay, let's start this morning by singing. Jesus prayed it all. Are you ready? Yes. Are you sure? Yes. Are you ready? Yes. Should we sing to our Savior? Yes. Okay, so Jesus prayed it all. You may have your seats. And we're continuing this morning our exposition of Psalm 10. If you'll remember at the end of last week we went through verses 1 through 11. And we examined the problem that David had And the entire psalm, we said, fits under the theme of God's sure triumph. From our perspective, when things seem very bad, God is still in control. And God will surely triumph. And for the believer, God works all things together for good, for those who love Him. So God is triumphant even in those difficult times. And God can take those bad things that happen in our lives and he works them together for our good. And furthermore, God judges the wicked. And there is a day coming, that last day, where every human being who has ever lived will stand in judgment before God. And He will judge rightly. Those who are wicked will be cast out forever. And those who are the righteous, that is not according to our own righteousness, but by faith in Jesus Christ, we have the righteousness of God. We will spend eternity in heaven, in the presence of God, where there is no more sin, there is no more bad that happens. So this morning we want to read verses 12 through 15. Psalm 10 verse 12 through 15. Arise O Lord, O God, lift up your hand, forget not the afflicted. Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, you will not call to account? But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands. To you the helpless commits himself. You have been the helper of the fatherless. Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer. Call his wickedness to account till you find none. Why don't you go to God and ask for your hand? Don't be afraid to ask for your hand, because the teaching of God says that you will receive his blessing. Have you seen the way you look at people? Ask for your hand. Someone has left you his soul, meaning that you have been a helper to the orphans. Show him the teaching of God and ask for his blessing, even if you don't see it. So in this second part of Psalm 10, we see David's prayer. It is with a prayer of passion that David cried out. He said, Arise, O Lord, O God, lift up your hand. David pleads with God to fight the wicked. And he asks God to not forget the afflicted. David's pleading with God, do not forget those who are afflicted at the hands of the wicked. And then David continues. He says, why does the wicked renounce God? Or why does the wicked reject God? There was no reasonable explanation for this. The depravity of man causes them to do things which make no sense to the righteous. The righteous understand that God is a mighty God, that God has created all things, that there is no one, not even the mightiest of armies, who can stand before God. But the wicked don't understand such things. They suppress the truth. They believe that there is no God. Or if there is a God, he is somewhere far off, not paying attention to what is going on here on earth. It makes no sense. It is insane to fight against God. And yet that is what the wicked do every single day. Why does the wicked say that God will not call them to account? Only the foolishness of sin can cause someone to believe such nonsense. Of course God will call them to account. He must. By nature God is just. And he will not allow any sin to go unpunished. If he did, he would not be just. And every sin certainly will be punished. Every sin that you commit, every sin that I commit, it will be punished. If we reject God, All our sins will be punished for eternity in hell. We will be among the wicked and we will be cast out and we will just be on our own in hell facing the wrath of God without any help. But for those who have placed their faith In the Savior, Jesus Christ, all of their sins were punished in Jesus on the cross. So God remains just. If you have faith in Jesus, then you have a substitute. Your sins were punished, but not in yourself, they were punished in Jesus. Every sin will surely be punished. And even the wicked know this. In their conscience, they know this. Yet they suppress the truth. They know it. That is why they come up with all these different religions, these different ideas of ways to appease God. the African traditional religion involving witchcraft, trying to appease the spirits. That is the wicked man's answer to appease God because they know they have sinned against God. And so they try to do their own things in order to make right with the spirits that they can be accepted, they can be blessed. Islam, Buddhism, every other world religion They are all there because wicked men and wicked women know that they are sinners and they must do something in order to be accepted by God. But the truth is there's nothing we can do to be accepted by God. The only way we can be accepted, it has already been done by Jesus Christ. We cannot hope in Mohammed. We cannot hope in the priest or the Pope. We cannot hope in the witch doctor. It is Christ alone who can atone for our sins. And we see in the psalm now in this second part, David comes out of his despair. Remember last week we read verses 1 through 11. David was in despair. He was depressed. He was very troubled. But now in this second part, verses 12 through 15, David comes out of that despair.
