Now, I've brought something with me today. Could anybody tell me what this is? Does anybody know what this is? Robert, what's that? It's a T-shirt. I'm sure that you all have got a T-shirt at home. Now, why am I talking about a T-shirt today? Well, you know that those miners who came out of that mine, they had some very special words on their T-shirts. On the front of their T-shirt was two words in Spanish. Now, Susana, she's only in P1, but she's learning Spanish already. I don't know whether she's learned any of these words, but you know, the two words on the front of their T-shirts were Gracias, Senor. Gracias, Senor. Do you know what those two words mean? They mean, thank you God. Thank you God. So, the miners who were down in that mine for, was it 69 days? That was a long time. They were down there for 69 days, but they were thanking God for bringing them out safely again. They knew that it was God who rescued them. I know that there were other people who used special equipment to get down to them, but it was really God who was helping these people to rescue the miners. And the miners knew that it was God who had delivered them and brought them up again. And they wanted to say thank you to God. Gracias, senor. That's what was on the front of their T-shirt. And it just means thank you, God, in Spanish. And it's always good to thank God, isn't it? Because he gives so much to us and he does so much for us. And that's why we come to church on Sunday, isn't it? That's one of the main reasons. In fact, I would say that it's the main reason why we come to church. We come to say thank you to God for all that he has done for us. But not only was there something written on the front of their T-shirts, But on the T-shirts of those miners, there were some other words written. On the back, there was a Bible verse. It was Psalm 95 and verse four, and again, it was in Spanish. So if you saw the T-shirt, I'm sure that you probably didn't know what it said. But let me read it to you. Psalm 95 and verse four. In his hand are the deep places of the earth. Isn't that a very appropriate verse for the miners being away down half a mile below the ground in Chile for 69 days? In His hand are the deep places of the earth. And you know, that's a very suitable verse because the miners, they were really saying that all the time while they were down in the mine, the Lord was in control. In His hand are the deep places of the earth. He was protecting them and they were in his hand, even though they were half a mile down. Oh, what a wonderful text of Scripture. In his hand are the deep places of the earth. That's not the end of it. On the back of their T-shirt were some more words. And again, they weren't in English, they were in Spanish. But let me translate the words into English, because the words were simply this. To God be the honor and the glory. Sometimes we sing that great hymn, To God be the glory. And it's a lovely hymn. But that's what the miners were saying after God had brought them up out of the mine. To God be the honor and the glory. They wanted to praise him. They wanted the world to know that it was the Lord who had brought them up out of the mine. And then this is the best of all. You see, on one of the sleeves of their T-shirt was a name. You know what the name written on the sleeve of the T-shirt was? Would anybody like to guess the name that was on one of the sleeves? I think it was the left sleeve. It begins with J. I hear some people whisper it, Amadino. Jesus. My, that's a wonderful name, isn't it? That's a lovely name. The miners wanted Jesus to be on their sleeve. They couldn't have picked a better name. Because you see, the miners, those 33 men, and by the way, one of them was a preacher. Did you know that? One of those men was a preacher. But those 33 men, they wanted the world to know about Jesus. It was Jesus who rescued us. It was Jesus who brought us up out of the mine. He saved us from death. We would have been dead if it hadn't been for him. He kept his hand upon us. He rescued us. Oh, the name of Jesus. And they had it on their sleeve. But you see, the Lord Jesus not only came to save our lives, to protect us from harm, but he came to save us from something much more terrible. He came to rescue us from our sins. And He came to save you from your sins. You see, maybe you sat back and maybe you watched it on the TV or maybe your schoolteacher talked to you about that great rescue. But let me ask you a question. Have you ever been rescued from sin? Have you ever been brought up And if you sin, oh, the miners were way down. You know the Bible says in Psalm 40, He brought me up. He brought me up. Has Jesus ever brought you up? Has He saved your soul? Well, let's remember the lesson from the t-shirt of the miners. And all those lovely words and Bible verses in the name of Jesus. Let's not forget that. But let's make sure that we know Jesus.
