We are privileged to have as our visiting preacher Rev. H. B. Charles, Jr., the senior pastor of the 5,000-member Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. A third-generation pastor, H.B. professed faith in Christ at the age of six. At age eleven, he began his public ministry at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, under the watchful eye of his father and the leaders of that congregation. In July 2008, he assumed his present pastoral call in Jacksonville, FL. He and his wife Crystal have been married fifteen years. They have three children: H.B., III, Natalie Marie, and Hailey Breanne.
H.B.’s preaching has been featured in the 2008 edition of The African American Pulpit. He has also contributed to several published works including Power in the Pulpit (Westminster/John Knox Press) and Oxford Sermons (Vol 3, Hupomone Press). H. B.’s first book, It Happens After Prayer (Moody Press), was released in May 2012. His most recent work, On Preaching (Moody Press), was released in May 2014. His regular podcast (“On Preaching”) and his insightful commentary on pastoral issues can be accessed through his website (hbcharlesjr.com). He is also enrolled at the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Jacksonville) where he continues his formal education. He is a regular guest speaker at various revivals, conferences, and conventions nationwide.
Please mark your calendars for our annual communion season.
