Does everybody have their book with them? If you don't, I think we've got a few more in the back. See, this needs to be like your Bible on Wednesday nights. We don't come to church without our Bible. We can't come to church without our work. If you don't have one, there's a few more in the back, back there. If Derek or David, if either one of them's back there hiding. I know Derek hides about like David. I'd like to get them to sing a duo sometime, wouldn't I? Boy, that'd be a miracle working God, wouldn't it? It took Derek six months to even say hi to me, much less hold a conversation. That's right. I didn't think I was ever going to preach either, but look at me. Didn't think I was ever going to pastor either, but look at me now. No, I appreciate each testimony he's saying. I appreciate it. It's one that's here tonight. I know some can't be that normally is, and I'm glad that some can be that normally isn't. And I've thought a lot about that. I'll be honest with you, I've a little bit wrestled with what to do as far as invitations goes to our revival. I thought we've got to somehow invite, but as a church, We do need to go out and visit people and just tell them about God and invite them to church. But I'll tell you, I'll be honest with you, I think it's important that we do that. We need to do that at times and ways. But if each individual would take it upon themselves to do exactly what you were saying, invite five people. Imagine if I was invited five people to the revival. There may not be 10 of them show up, five of them, if everybody done that. But imagine if those five, at least five people did out of all that. An individual's soul winning, I feel, is one of the most effective things. And just a guy the other day told me he lives beside of a Mormon. And he said that when somebody comes to his door, he said, I only hardly give him the time of day. And he mentioned that as one of the reasons why, because of Jehovah's Witness and because of Mormons. And so what I thought we're going to do when we go out visiting, we're going to get a little medal name time joking. And Scott will hold his gun on him while we talk. But no, seriously. But I said, well, so one of the first things I try to do is introduce myself. He said, well, that helps. He said, that does make a difference. And just today, as I know it was a comical, someone was telling about people sitting around in a waiting room talking about a dinner they was having at church this evening. And how that they, you know, they said, well, I might come to your church this evening. They never would tell them the church's name. It's like, yeah, I wasn't going to point you out. But it's like, but they didn't want Rebecca to come. If it had been any of the rest of us, they would have told us the name of the church and give us directions. But in all seriousness, though, church, individual soul winning, I'm telling you, is the most effective thing we can be as a church and you can be as a Christian. I promise you, God will never, now, let me say this delicately and wisely. Have I made mistakes in witnessing to people personally? You better believe it. Have I made them mad? And they had a right to be. Have I said the wrong things more than once? Will I do it again? Probably so. Because I'm human. But you learn through experience sometimes on how to witness and talk to people. You learn when to just back out and when to go forward. And there's only one way you're going to do that. I'll say two. Two ways. Number one, you've got to be in tune with the Spirit of God. If you're not in tune with Him, He can't lead you. And it sounds like she fell again. And number two, is you have to be willing. And how do you get good at something? What does, all right, if you're gonna sing a song, what do you do to learn how to sing that song? You. Amen. So how are you gonna get good at soul winning? You. See there how easy this is? Now we just need to go out and do it. Yeah, see? Right, honey. Well, and he will. And he definitely will, but we have a part to do And if we do what we are supposed to do, he will take it from there. We can't do his work. And that's very true. Rebecca's saying that. It's like a garden. Who in here grows a garden? Scott, and Wayne, and Denny? Do you like Dennis or Denny? I like Denny. Amber got on me for that. She said, quit calling him that. You know I'm joking with you. That's when the garden's ready. But imagine if Scott, Wayne, and Dennis went out there, they plowed the garden, they hoed it, and they'd strung a string to get the line straight and everything, but they didn't plant anything. Yet they keep going out to the garden saying, why isn't anything growing? Huh, Lord, what's going on here? Why ain't you blessing my garden? Grow. And yet they go out every day looking for something to grow. If you don't plant any seed, guess what? You're not going to get a garden. You will get weeds. Junk. Now, you might have a mator come up here or one stalk of corn here or there or something, but you ain't going to have much. It's the same way as this. So all right, we're going to mention a couple of things. And if Lord willing, I'm going to attempt again, and I'll never attempt it again if it don't work this time, I don't think. to watch this video, because I want you to see it. And I'm not going to get in a lot of depth and detail on this tonight, because I know we're going to revival next week. So what you learn tonight, I don't want us to lose it over the next couple of weeks. Because once we start this, I want to try to stay with it, Lord willing. And again, I think it would definitely help you tremendously. So open your book to page 6. And you're in the middle of this video. And I've got to be quick, because this is about a 15 minute video. You see the outline of this. I mentioned this a week or two ago. Now, you've heard it mentioned probably through the years to 12 tribes of Israel. Has everybody heard that at least once in their life, I'm sure? And most of the time when you hear it, what happens is a preacher or whoever will mention something about it and skip on. And you've always wondered, what's the 12 tribes of Israel? Where do they come from? What do they mean? If you see those around the tabernacle, you see those four sides and three on each side. Three times four equals 12. Even I can figure that, and I'm bad at math. I hate it. Those are the 12 tribes. Does anybody know whose father these 12 tribes come from? Who fathered these 12 tribes? Anybody know? They're named after children of one particular man. That's right, who was Joseph's daddy? Somebody mentioned it, I thought. Now Abraham's called the father, yes, Father Abraham, but one particular man was the father of these 12 tribes. Jacob. Because one name gives it away. So we see where they come from. And they play a big role in everything in the Bible. If you look over where it says fascinating facts about the Bible, it says there are 50 chapters in the Bible that discuss the tabernacle. That's quite a bit when you think about it. And we're going to get a little bit into the book of Leviticus. When you start getting into that, then we go over into Hebrews. I promise you, for the first time, Hebrews is going to make sense to you. It is very hard to make sense of the book of Hebrews and properly interpret that book without having a little bit of understanding of the tabernacle and of the book of Leviticus. But if you want a challenge, if you want the greatest challenge you'll ever have in understanding something, you start diving into the book of Leviticus, and I promise you, you better get comfortable, because you're going to spend some time. And you're going to walk away with smoke coming out of your ears and stuff. On the surface, it seems simple. But when you start digging into it, it's not. I know any preacher that I know has said that is the absolute hardest book you will ever try to interpret in the Bible by far. It makes Ezekiel look like a cakewalk. And church, that's saying something. So anyway, but if you look over, did anybody get a chance to look at the lesson one for the past week or two? You don't have to raise your hand if you didn't. Don't embarrass yourself, because I have to embarrass myself a lot. But if you didn't, try to do that. Try to read that page. And look at the page six. It'll give you a good introduction. And do these little quizzes on page six or eight. I'll get it right in a minute. You don't have to do the passport thing. We ain't going to cut that out and wear it around and do all that. I mean, I guess we can. But remember, this is also for ages 10 years old to adult. I know. It's kind of neat, isn't it? We'll put our pictures there, we'll have somebody take a picture and run them all off. And again, I'll say this for hopefully the last time, I'm sure it may come up again, I don't like this, but if you look back, you don't have to at this moment, but on page two it tells you that these particular, this book is based, the scripture references on the NIV, I don't like that, I wish it was different, but this is the only book I can find that breaks it down the way this does, where it gives you some visuals. It just makes it simple to understand. And it is the best single, simple volume I have ever found to go to this subject. It's great. So keep that in mind. I don't like it. We are going to use the Bible, not a book. So if you could be so kind to get the screen, we'll go ahead and show it. Does anybody have any questions of anything you've read or on this right now before we get to the screen? OK. I've got some feedback from Sunday night. Did everybody enjoy the service Sunday night? Yeah. OK, good. Because I said, I wonder if I walked away wondering. It's like a lot of people did. And I appreciate it. Appreciate everybody participating and took part. It was great. Good. I'm glad you heard. That's a blessing. I hate to do secrets that way. I'll put my hand up and I'll just slide it blind through the lights. Because that light is... Man, if you could have a flashlight like that, you could light up the world. It's still on the computer. I don't know if it's on the screen yet or not, but we'll fix it and find out. Yeah. It's to the right of the others. Cans too. Okay. Cans. You ladies will get in all that. I know. I promise I'll get it next time. Well, that's nice. I think we're going to wash it. Well, shoes. That's just going to straight through it. I don't know. I guess it ain't meant to be. I'm going to try one more time. Let me do this. I'm going to cancel this one out and open up another one. Did it lock? I'm trying to, but I don't have much luck. I'll try, but I don't think it's going to... I just don't know if it's particularly... I don't know why it's particularly going to work. See, that's going back to the title, so I don't know if it's going to work this time. Yeah. This computer's like me, it don't work very well anymore. I like the mic I have. Everybody hear this when it comes back on and off? Except for I want it. Except for I want it. Molly ain't here, she can't hear any of this. It's live. You shall praise my God. After the parting of the Red Sea, it would seem that the Hebrew people But their investigation of the land God had promised them caused them to fear for their lives again. Yet this time, they did not give God the opportunity to show how he could deliver them. Instead, they chose their own way. Sadly, the result of this disobedience was to be forced to wander in the desert wilderness for 40 years. Their disbelief in God's ability to deliver them became a sentence of sorts, representing one year for those who were 20 years of age or older. Yet, this nomadic lifestyle and the loss of the former promise did not mean that God had abandoned them. He had promised to dwell among them. So he commanded Moses to build a house of sorts. This dwelling place was for the God of a people who now lived in tents. This house was known as the Tabernacle. God would appear as a pillar of fire to direct them and protect them. Throughout all their journey, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the sons of Israel would set out. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not set out until the day when it was taken up. For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the Lord was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel. The sons of Israel shall camp, each by his own standard, with the banners of their fathers' households. They shall camp around the tent of meeting at a distance. Now those who camp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the standard of the camp of Judah by their armies. And those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar. Then comes the tribe of Zebulun, On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben by their armies. And those who camp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon. Then comes the tribe of Gad. Then the tent of meetings shall set out with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camps, just as they camped. So they shall set out every man in his place by their standards. On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Manasseh. Then comes the tribe of Benjamin. On the north side shall be the standard of the camp of Dan by their armies. And those that camp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher. Then comes the tribe of Naphtali. These are the numbered men of the sons of Israel by their father's household. numbered men of the camps by their armies, 603,550. The Levites, however, were not numbered among the sons of Israel, just as the Lord had commanded Moses. Thus the sons of Israel did according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses. So they camped by their standards, and so they set out, every one by his family, according to his father's household. God is holy. Nothing unclean or anyone with sin can exist in the presence of God. So a separation was created to keep the sin of the people apart from the holiness of God. This outer curtain was the beginning of that separation. No one harboring sin could pass through it. And the sole purpose in going beyond its borders was to seek atonement or the forgiveness of sins. and the altar, and hung up the veil for the gateway of the court. Thus Moses finished the work. Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting, because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Man cannot survive in God's presence unless he is invited and is completely pure. And so even Moses, the man of God, had to wait until the cloud lifted before he could even enter the tabernacle. Entering into the courtyard, we come to the place where the first step in meeting with God was taken. Build an altar of acacia wood, three cubits high. It is to be square, five cubits long, and five cubits wide. Make a horn at each of the four corners, so that the horns and the altar are of one piece. And overlay the altar with bronze. Make poles of acacia wood for the altar, and overlay them with bronze. The poles are to be inserted into the ring. God required daily sacrifices to be made, continually confirming the covenant between himself and the people. These sacrifices and offerings would be a pleasing aroma, an offering made to the Lord by fire for generations to come. This burnt offering is to be made regularly at the entrance to the tent of meeting before the Lord. There I will meet with you and speak to you There also I will meet with the Israelites, and the place will be consecrated by my glory." Next, we see a large basin of water placed strategically between the brazen altar and the tent of meeting. The laver was a vessel of physical and symbolic cleansing for the priests in their service before the Lord. It was absolutely essential that they were to be clean before beginning the Make a bronze basin, with it a bronze stand for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with the water from it. Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting an by fire. They shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come. Once again, we come to a place of further separation and increasing holiness, for only the priests would enter into the tent of meeting For the entrance to the tent, make a curtain of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen. and hammer it out, base and shaft. Its flower-like cubs, buds, and blossoms shall be of one piece with it. Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand, three on one side, three on the other. Then make it seven lamps and set them upon it so that they light the space in front of it. Its wind trimmers and trays all its accessories. See that you make them according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. Closed off from the outside world, the single source of light for the holy place came from the seven lamps atop the golden lampstand. The combined light of these oil lamps would reflect well off the walls since they were covered completely The ambient glow of the lampstand would illumine across the room to the table of showbread. On this table were kept 12 loaves of fresh bread, one for each tribe, as a continual reminder of man's need for God's provision. This offering of bread was called the Bread of Presence, since it was kept before God's presence. Make it two cubits long, a cubit wide, and a cubit and a half high. Overlay it with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. Also make around it a rim a hand breadth wide, and put a gold molding on the rim. Make four gold rings for the table, and fasten them to the four corners, where the four legs are. The rings are to be close to the rim to hold plates and dishes of pure gold, as well as its pitchers and bowls for the pouring out of offerings. Put the bread of presents on this table to be before me. Since the desert was not a source of abundant food, God provided all the food the Israelites needed to sustain them. The table of showbread, then, represented an offering to God. They would give an offering of their first fruits from the abundance that He had provided. It was a thanks offering, expressing gratitude for God's abundant blessings. The altar of incense represented the need for the prayers of the people to be continuously directed upwards toward God, and that those same prayers would be received by God as a sweet aroma and be pleasing to His ear. Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense. It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high. Its horns of one piece with it. Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. Make two gold rings for the altar below the molding. Two on opposite sides to hold the poles used to carry it. Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. Beyond the altar of incense was the Holy of Holies. This dwelling place of God was so solemn and set apart that the veil would only be opened once a year. It was then that the high priest would meet with God. Pushing back the veil reveals the article above which this most holy meeting would occur. Have them make a chest of acacia wood, two and a half cubits long, a cubit and a half wide, and a cubit and a half high. Overlay it with pure gold, both inside and out, and make a gold molding around it. Cast four gold rings for it, and fasten them to its four feet, with two rings on one side, and two rings on the other. Then make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. Insert the poles into the rings on the sides of the chest to carry it. Make an atonement cover of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other. Make the cherubim of one piece with the cover at the two ends. The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover. Place the cover on top of the ark, and put in the ark the testimony, which I will give you. There, above the cover, between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the testimony, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites. Stored inside the ark were three very important reminders of the people's relationship with God. Each one reminded the Israelites of having learned a specific lesson from God. The value in keeping these three items for his children. Since the desert could not produce enough food for all the people, God provided a special food for them every morning, manna. Six days of every week, they collected this heaven-sent food. The Israelites had received this manna faithfully each morning for 40 years. As an enduring testimony, a golden pot filled with manna was kept inside the ark. Inside the golden pot was an Omar's worth of manna or one day's portion It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey Moses said this is what the Lord has commanded Take an Omar of manna and keep it for the generations to come So that they can see the bread I gave you to eat in the desert As the Lord commanded Moses, Aaron put the manna in front of the testimony that it might be kept. many of the Israelites. They even revolted against the leaders God had chosen for them. Yet, God proved to them that He had chosen their leader. The sign for this was Aaron's rod that had miraculously budded, flowered, and bore almonds all in one night. This was their reminder to not complain against the Lord's chosen. Speak to the Israelites. one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff. On the staff of Levi, write Aaron's name, but there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe. Place them in the tent of meeting in front of the testimony where I meet with you. will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites. The next day, Moses entered the tent of the testimony and saw that Aaron's staff, which represented the house of Levi, had not only sprouted, but had budded, blossomed, and produced almonds. The Lord said to Moses, Put back Aaron's staff in front of the testimony, to be kept as a sign to the rebellious. This will put an end to their grumbling against me, so that they will not die. The best known of the reminders kept inside the Ark were the two stone tablets engraved with the Ten Commandments. These tablets contained the primary rules they were to live by, which would protect and govern them. God would also use these to examine their faithfulness and commitment to following him. Chisel out two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets. So Moses chiseled out two stone tablets like the first ones, and went up to Mount Sinai early in the morning as the Lord had commanded him. And he carried the two stone tablets in his hands. I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery, For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers, and the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. day to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates, In six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Honor your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or his donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor. It is here, just above the cover to the Ark of the Covenant, also known as the Mercy Seat, here, in this space, where the cherubim, the guardians of God, have set their full attention, that God's presence would appear to and meet with the High Priest on a specified day, and then only once a year. The Holy of Holies had no lampstand. No artificial light was permitted. Here in this place, where the immortal God would meet with mortal man, the only light came from the powerful purity found in the presence of God. that this earthly tabernacle was a model of the true one in heaven. He was to construct the tabernacle according to the pattern God showed him. The physical pattern was a model of spiritual patterns that were to be followed as well. We see the fulfillment of all these patterns, or lessons, in the person of Jesus Christ, who is the Messiah. Through his sacrifice on the cross, he made it possible for us to come into a personal relationship with the creator of the universe. When we come to fully understand and trust in Jesus as Messiah, we can then stand before God, cleansed and forgiven. OK, hopefully that gives everybody a little bit of an idea, like I said, of what. OK, if you don't care to get the lights, if you can see to get back here. But you understand, again, the versus was still the NIV. And we'll look at the real versus on that. But it's fairly close. You get the gist of it. But I wanted to show you guys that. you get a little more of a visual of what is going on here. And I think it does help to see and understand a little bit more of the seriousness of things. And one of the things that I've been maybe not even as preached as hard as I should have and stand as I should have maybe hard enough at times, you understand one reason why I'm the way in when it comes to how we look when we come to the house of God. why we should dress a certain way, why we should look a certain way. You walk in any part of that tabernacle right there unfit, you was dropped dead. God didn't change. Now, I don't know that he's dropping people dead in churches, but the fact is he expects and demands reverence. But as we go through this, some of this stuff will make more sense. And like I said, I hope this is a good introduction to what we're getting ready to go through and cover. And I hope you got something out of it. Does anybody got any quick questions? I'm sure you got a lot. And some of them I have no way I can get into tonight. But OK. Well, good. I guess we all learned everything we need to know about it then. I guess class over. All right. So, but it is pretty amazing when you look at this subject as a whole. It's pretty astounding as you go through it. And I hopefully, like when you hear somebody talking about the horns of the altar, you understand now what that means. You know, little simple things like that, hopefully it starts to make a better sense. So, if nothing else, okay, that's all. Stan will be dismissed. Thank you for
