Hello again, and welcome to the program. 1 Peter 1, verse 7 talks about the trial of your faith being much more precious. then gold that perishes, though it be dried with fire, might be found under praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Now, we're looking at the subject of these things happened. And in the previous programs, we've looked at some things that happened in the Old Testament, which the Lord said they happened. But it's not just a history lesson. They are written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the world are come. Well, here we have 1 Peter 1 7, the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found under praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Now, there's a couple of things about this verse we need to note. On the surface, it might look like it's saying the trial is better than gold. It's not saying that. It's talking about our faith being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it, our faith, be tried with fire. Sometimes we say, yeah, I believe God. Do we? We believe in God, but do we believe God? Do we believe that all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose? When we start going through those fiery trials, we might find out that we don't believe as much as we think we do. If we believe them, we're going to trust them as we go through these trials. That's why 1 Peter 4.12 says, Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fire of your trial, which is to try you as though some strange thing happened unto you. For one thing, we don't learn how to sail a ship on calm waters, and God knows that. But the other thing is, when we go through our trials and we pass those trials, then We are the only Bible unsaved people are reading. And if we pass those trials, they see something that we have that they wish they could have. So back to verse 1 Peter 1 7, we have the trial of your faith. That's one thing. But the second thing we see is that it might be found under praise and honor and glory. at the appearing of Jesus Christ. Now, there's a bigger picture than our little span of time. When the Lord comes back, if we pass those tests, it will be found under praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ. So as we said, we had some stories in the Old Testament and they were talking about things that are written for our admonition, but there's some things happening in more recent days that can be a tremendous admonishment to us and encouragement if we look at how some people who did pass those tests, how they acted and what we can learn from them. It was on March the 24th, 1820, that Fanny Crosby came into this world. It was on February the 12th, 1915, that she went to heaven with us. Now the time in between that She was a tremendous influence for the cause of Christ, and not only during that time, but even still today. When she was only eight years old, and she was born in that house that you see in the picture behind her on the slide here, when she was only eight, she said, oh, what a happy soul am I. Although I cannot see, I am resolved that in this world contented I shall be. How many blessings I enjoy that other people don't. to weep and sigh because I'm blind. I cannot, and I won't. Fanny Crosby was used of the Lord because of her situation, according to her own testimony. The Lord used her to write all of these hymns, All the Way My Savior Leads Me, Blessed Assurance Jesus is Mine, Close to thee he hideth my soul, draw me nearer, Jesus is tenderly calling thee home. My Saviour, first of all, Jesus, keep me near the cross, pass me not, O gentle Saviour. Praise Him, Jesus, our blessed Redeemer. Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it, rescued the parasheek, safe in the arms of Jesus." She wrote that when her little girl died. In 1891, someday the silver cord will break. Take the world, but give me Jesus. Tell me the story of Jesus. To God be the glory. Great things he has done. So many songs that we sing today that are such a tremendous blessing. When I was 12 years old, I went to a meeting and they were going to preach the gospel. Interesting, I got shaved that night, but the first thing I heard in that meeting was this song that Fannie Crosby wrote, "'To God be the glory, great things he hath done.'" What a tremendous thing. They sang a lot of Fannie Crosby songs in that meeting, and the choir sang. And I was bound, I was spellbound by what they were doing there. And the words, I thought, what's this all about? Within an hour, I had trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior. I don't remember a thing the preacher said. I honestly don't. I guess that's not good, but I don't remember a thing he said. But I remember every song they sang, including this one. Sing along with this message and song to God be the glory. Great things he hath done.
