Good morning, everyone. It's good to be back in the house of the Lord this morning. I apologize for being a little late. I got a little office in my garage and when you close the door, both doors is like being in another world in there. When you get into the scriptures, I'll review my studies. Time flies. Great place to study. Anyway, I brought my notes today, brother. Good to see each and every one of you this morning. Got a great study this morning. Sarah, mother of faithful women. We studied yesterday about, I mean yesterday, last week about Eve, the mother of all living. And the Bible says that she is the mother of all living. The Bible says that Sarah is the mother of faithful women. So we just go by what the Word of God says and we learn from it. As we learn from it, we're able to teach it to others by God's grace, by the Holy Spirit working in our lives. We couldn't do without it, I can tell you that. We thank the Lord for this special day, the Lord's Day. Good to see all of you here. And the Bible says in 1 Peter chapter 3, verse, chapter 3 in 1 Peter 1 through 6. You want to turn there? 1 Peter chapter 3, the Bible says from verse 1 to verse 6, Likewise, ye wives be in subjection to your own husbands, that if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversion of the wives. While they hold your chest conversion coupled with fear, which is reverence, whose adorning let it not be that of our adorning of plaiting the hair, of wearing of gold, of putting on of apparel. But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible. Even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God, of great price. For after this manner, in old times the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands. Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord, whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement. The Bible in chapter six calls, I'm sorry, it's in a different scripture. Anyway, Even Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him, Lord, whose daughter ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with amazement. And the Bible here speaks to us of Sarah. of Sarah, and we hear a lot about Abraham. Abraham is called the father of faith. And Abraham believed God and he was coming unto Him for righteousness. And sometimes we don't hear a lot about Sarah, but I believe that the Scripture says a lot about her. It is said that for every great man, there is a great woman behind it. In the Christian life, we learn from the last study of last week that God made woman for Adam to be his helpmate, to coexist with him, to live together, to help each other, to love each other, and be used for one another to glorify God. in the marriage, of course, okay. The world has much to say about strong women. The world has a lot to say about strong women, beautiful women, modern women, liberated women. But the Bible speaks of holy women who trusted in God. The Bible speaks about in Proverbs chapter 31 verse 30 the Bible says that favor is deceitful and beauty is vain but a woman that fears the Lord she shall be praised The word praise means a woman that fears the Lord shall be praised. The word praise means to be exalted in commendation, to honor, to think highly of them. So speaking of women that fear the Lord and follow the Lord, Right here, it's saying a woman, which means a specific woman, a woman that fears the Lord. She shall be praised. Sarah, whose name is Princess, is noted in the scriptures as a model for godly women. She trusted in God, and women who trust and obey God today are are called daughters, whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, as the Bible says, and are not afraid with amazement. This statement of being not afraid with any amazement means that the fear with amazement is referring to wives thinking of their husbands with a fear of dread or mistreatment, which happens in this world rather than with loving reverence, fear meaning reverence, loving reverence. The motive of our conduct is to be loved and respected first and most for God and then for others. In order to win love, you have to learn to love. and share love and respect. You have to earn respect also. Truly, unity requires love and respect. Sarah did not view obeying Abraham as making her his slave or less than him, but as an honor to him as her husband and an honor to God as her savior. You are Sarah's daughter if you follow her example of faith and obedience to God. Amen. The Bible says that even Sarah obeyed Abraham calling him Lord, whose daughter you are as long as you do well and are not afraid with any amazement. We think of Sarah, of course, as she, as the scripture says here, that she is the mother of faithful women. We We also think of Sarah. We think of Abraham. Abraham was called by God. from the land of the Chaldeans. And I believe it's in chapter 12. We'll go to the scriptures in a little bit. But Sarah trusted God doesn't say much in the beginning until they're already in the way to Canaan land. But if you turn to Genesis chapter Genesis chapter 12, verse 1 through 5. We'll see a little bit of that there. Genesis chapter 12. And then we'll go up a little bit. We'll be in chapter 11, verse 31. And Terah took Abraham, his son, Abraham, his son, and Lot, the son of Haran, and his son's son, and Sarah, his daughter-in-law, his son, Abraham's wife, and they went forward with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, and they came into Haran and dwelt there." Then the Bible says there, the calling of Abraham. Now the Lord has said unto Abraham, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee. And I will make thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great. and thou shalt be a blessing. And I will bless thee that bless thee, and curse him that curse thee. And in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed. If you turn to Hebrews chapter 11 and 8-10, we'll read more about Abraham. Chapter 11, in verse 8, the Bible says, By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed. And he went out, not knowing whether he went, By faith he subdued in the land of promise, As in a strange country dwelling in tabernacles, With Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise. For he looked for a city which had foundations, Whose builder and maker is God. And what I'm getting to is that God called Abraham and he called also Sarah with him because they left together and Sarah being his wife, did not question him. It doesn't say he questioned him. He said, we're going that way. Let's pick up as our pastor preached a few weeks ago. They just said, okay, let's go. So by faith, they moved forward, and they went towards the land of Canaan, not knowing, the Scripture said, where they were going. Only by faith, they sojourned. into the land of promise as in a strange country dwelling in tabernacles with their family. And as we continue with the study here, Sarah trusted God as he trusted her husband Abraham. And Sarah The first point that we're getting into, that was introduction to Sarah's faith. Sarah trusted God as they moved on. In the next scripture, where we're at, the Bible says in chapter 11 of Hebrews 11, through faith, also Sarah herself received strength to conceive seed and was delivered a child when she was past age because she judged him faithful who had promised. And God had promised that they would be, that she would have a son and that their family would be more than the sands, the heritage would be more than the sand of the seas and the stars of the sky. In Genesis, we're going to review the story of Sarah when God promised her that she would give him a son. Genesis chapter 17, verse 15. If you please turn there. Genesis chapter 15 and we're going to read verse Genesis chapter 17 and verse 15 through 19 and God said unto Abraham as for Sarah thy wife thou shalt not call her As for Sarai, thy wife thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give her a son also of her. Yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations, kings of people shall she be, shall be of her. Verse 17, Then Abraham fell, upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? And shall Sarah, in ninety years old, bear? And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee, And God says, Sarah, thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed, and thou shalt call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed. At that point, we see, as God promised them Isaac, their son, and if you go to chapter 18, chapter 18 and in verse 9 through 15 he says and they said unto him where is sarah and and it's called uh in verse 9 said uh and they said unto him Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold in the tent. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life. And lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door which was behind him. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age, and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. Therefore Sarah left. within herself, saying, After I am waxed old, shall I have pleasure with my Lord being old also? And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surely buried child which am old? Is anything too hard for the Lord? And at the time appointed I will return unto thee according to the time of my life as Sarah shall have a son. And as we know from the scriptures, It says here, Sarah believed God promised to give Abraham a son and heir by her. And even though it seemed humanly impossible, there was no reason to think that Sarah would give birth to a son based on the understanding, ability, and circumstances of man. what Sarah herself or anyone else could do or control. Sarah was skeptical at first and God rebuked her skepticism and doubt. It is good when God reproves us for our skepticism and doubt because He is true and faithful. And Sarah was believed God, trusted God, but he was also, he was not perfect also. And then we'll see, God promised her a son and Sarah believed God. Sarah had accepted her new name, which signified would be be a mother of nations. But when it came time for the promise of God to affect her personally, definitely and directly, she initially doubted. Like I said, she was not perfect. Neither are we perfect. But Sarah through it trusted God. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1, verse 20, it says that God's promises are yea and in Him, amen. We can believe if it comes from the Word of God. 1 Corinthians 1, verse 20, in the words of the Apostle Paul, The Bible says, 1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20. Oops. I lost Scripture. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20, for all the promises of God in him, or yea, and in him, amen, unto the glory of God by us. Amen. And we continue in the study. In Genesis chapter 21, we see the outcome of the promises of God. Genesis chapter 21. Verse 1 through 7, the Bible says, And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. And Sarah conceived in Abraham a son in his old age, and at the sad time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham said the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. And Abraham called the name of the son which was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, is Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old and God as God had commanded and Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born unto him and Sarah said God had made me to live so that all that here will live with me. God is never late In His promises, His promises are yay and amen. Sometimes we don't know when the answer to prayer will come, but it will come in God's timing. And we see here is the account here of Abraham and Sarah as God had promised them a son, Isaac. Sarah experienced the fulfillment of God's promise. She had great joy because of what God had done for her and through her that no one but God could have done. Faith will result in joy in the heart and life of a child of God. This begins in salvation when we first believe and continues as we lean upon the Lord throughout our lives. Turn to 1 Peter. 1 Peter chapter 3. 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 3. through nine says, blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. is when we are born again, when we're saved, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time, wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if indeed ye are in heaviness, through manifold temptations, that the trowel of your faith, being much more precious than all gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise, and honor, and glory of the appearing of Jesus Christ. Verse 8 Who have not seen ye love in whom through, though now yet who have not seen ye love in whom though now ye see him not, yet believing ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls." As we, by the grace of God, are called chosen, saved, we receive it by faith. It is hard to explain to somebody about salvation if they're still lost, but you can tell them it's by faith to believe in God and trust in His dead burial resurrection and what He did on the cross, how He died and how His blood was shed for the remission of our sins. And God will move in his heart if he continues to believe by faith. My experience was that I believed. I believed, and after that, I didn't understand the Word of God, the scriptures at all. I thought, how do I understand this book? But there was faith, and I knew that the Lord had saved me, because I had faith in my heart. Amen. So we continue in the study of Sarah. Sarah, obedience. 1 Peter 3, we're there right now. I'm sorry, turn to 1 Peter chapter 3. And the Bible says that Sarah's obedience to Abraham her husband was also obedience to God. Oops, sorry. Let's go first to Sarah obeyed the commandments of God. In Genesis chapter 3, first, Genesis chapter 3, the Bible says in verse 16, 3-16. Unto the woman, he said, God said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception, and sorrow shall thou bring forth children, and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. So there's a commandment of God. Sarah believed that. She heard that. And she knew the Scriptures and obeyed God's commandments. In 1 Peter again, chapter 3, verses 5-6, the Bible says, For after this manner, in old time, the holy women also who trusted in God adorned themselves being in subjection unto their own husband. Sarah showed by her life that women who trust in God can obey God's commandment with joy. Sarah called Abraham Lord. She honored him in her thoughts, with her words, and by her obedience. Obedience comes from a heart that is right towards God and not holding evil thoughts. Proverbs chapter... He said, Obedience comes from a heart that is right towards God and that is not holding evil thoughts. Proverbs chapter 4 verse 23 says, Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. We must guard our hearts from evil thoughts and grudges. Remember that the hidden man of the heart, our true self. The scriptures teach us how to think right about God and each other, how to feel right towards God. and each other, how to speak right of God and each other and how to behave rightly towards God and each other. James chapter 3 verse 13 through 18. James chapter 3. I'm sorry. James chapter 3, 13. I thought there was a lot of scriptures. Okay. Who is wise and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation or lifestyle or life his works with meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and strife in your heart, glory not, that nigh against the truth. This wisdom descended not from above, but is earthly sensual devilish for where envy and Strive is, there is confusion in every evil work, but the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy, and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. Women are told by the world that obedience is degrading. In reality, sin is degrading. God values obedience more than outward beauty or worldly accomplishments. Obedience reveal love and humility. Christ whose love surpasses all others was meek and lowly and came to serve others because his heart delighted to obey God. And we're gonna read one more scripture and I will read the conclusions. It is in Matthew chapter 20, 28. Matthew chapter 20, verse 28. And we're going to read from... Let's read from verse 25. But Jesus called them, unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you, but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister. which is servant, and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. Even as the son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many. Sarah is named among those who considered their early lives to be pilgrimages while they were on their way to a better home prepared for them by God in whom they trusted. She embraced the promises of God along with Abraham and lived in expectation of a heavenly home which God had prepared for them that believe. Sarah in conclusion. Sarah's life was greatly changed by God's covenant dealing with her and God's choice for her. Sarah learned to trust God and claim His promises. Joyfully, Sarah's obedience and reverence of her husband show Christian women today that they can obey God and be used by Him. Sarah is a witness of living by faith and looking for a heavenly home. Amen? With that, we'll ask the Lord to bless the reading of His Word this morning, and we will take a break. Okay, Sarah. Morning, morning. Good to see you. Is that your daughter?
