Proverbs 3, verse 1 to 8. My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments. For length of days and long life and peace shall I add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee. Bind them about thine neck. Write them upon the table of thine heart. So shall I find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes. Fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thine navel, and morrow to thy bones. Amen. We know that the Lord will bless his word. And again, as I say, it's just in that we were trust Here it tells us simply to trust in the Lord with all thine heart. That's the way we ought to go through life and that's how we ought to follow the Lord, to trust in Him with all our heart. It's no good just trusting Him a little bit and then worrying a lot about other things. I'm sure we all do that, I know I've done that. But I often come back to this verse, maybe from the day I was saved, it's meant so much. And trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on to thine own understanding. You know, we have many things that come into our minds and our own thoughts and things and what we should do. But, you know, we must just rest and trust in the Lord with all our heart. Every favor of our being, we should trust Him. And we shouldn't lean to our own understanding. There's things we don't understand. There's things we try to seek out in our mind and try to understand. Things that are too deep for us. I'm talking about happenings in life. Why should this happen? And so on. But the Bible says we have to trust in the Lord with all our heart. Not to lean to our own understanding. And in that wee verse it follows it. In all thy ways acknowledge him. and he shall direct thy path. I believe these verses have been a help to each one of us for they're so well known and they're so lovely indeed. And we're to acknowledge the Lord, we're to trust him, we're to acknowledge him and he shall direct our paths. He shall direct our paths, not that he might, but he shall direct us and God directs us by his word, by circumstances, And just by His leading, often times we just know that it is the Lord's will that we do such a thing according to His word. And then of course, Psalm 62. We have to trust in Him with all our heart. Psalm 62 verse 8 says we have to trust in Him at all times. Psalm 62 verse 8. Trust in Him at all times, you people. Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us. You see how the heart is brought in again, that we have to trust in Him with all our heart, and we have to trust in Him at all times. And you know, that's so important. It's easy to trust in the Lord when everything's going well, and when the sun's shining, but we all know, and we've all experienced it, it's not so easy to trust in the Lord when things are dark, when there's trials, common troubles, Maybe persecution, maybe tribulation. But the psalmist says here, we have to trust in Him at all times. Why? You people pour out your heart before Him, he says. And that's good, you know, as we're trusting in Him. And when times are difficult, we can pour out our heart before Him silently. Remember Hannah? She prayed, only her lips moved. She spake in her heart. But God saw her heart, because God answered her prayer. And you know, you and I, we can pour out our hearts before God. And that's what we have to do. Trust in Him at all times. And we have to pour out our hearts before Him. Why? Because God is a refuge for us. He's our refuge, our strength, a very present help in trouble. And then, a lovely portion to Isaiah 26 and 3. It says this, Now I will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stead in me. Why? Because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever. We're told to trust in him with all our heart. We're told to trust in him at all times. And now Isaiah says here, you have to trust in the Lord forever, continually, forevermore. Why? For in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. And my margin, it says, is the rock of ages. And so he is. So we have to trust in him forever. And when we trust him too, we get perfect peace. And I'm sure you've all experienced that too, that when sometimes you're burdened down with worry, and then you look to the Lord and you rest on him, you trust in him, there's a peace comes that overcomes even all the doubts and everything else. God says in His Word, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stead in Thee. Why? Because he trusteth in Thee. And most of these are in the Psalms, Psalm 25 and 2. It says this, Psalm 25 and 2 says, O my God, I trust in Thee. Let me not be ashamed. Let not mine enemies triumph over me. You know, when we trust in the Lord, we will not be ashamed, because God is true to His Word. He's true to his promises and what he has promised he will fulfill and he will keep us. And the psalmist here says himself, I trust in thee, let me not be ashamed. Let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yeah, let none that wait on thee be ashamed. Let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. So we're to trust in him and when we trust in him, we'll not be ashamed because God will indeed help us and indeed that's the next one psalm 28 and 7 says this the lord is my strength and my shield my heart trusteth in him and i am helped so there when we trust in the lord too he helps us he'll bring us through the hard times he'll bring us through difficult times he'll bring us through all times and he'll help us And you know, the Lord is our helper. That's not what it says in the scripture. The Lord is our helper. And it's good to know that we all need help. We all need someone with us and the Lord is our helper. And we have to trust in Him and God will indeed be our helper. And he says, the Lord is my strength and my shield, my heart trusted in Him and I am helped. So he found that when he trusted in God, that God helped him. It was his testimony. And then Psalm 32 and 10, it tells us something else about trusting in the Lord. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked, but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about, mercy shall encircle him. So when you and I trust in the Lord, we're compassed about, we're encircled with God's mercies. And the Bible says that God's mercies are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness. So when we trust in Him, we have the mercy of God with us too. And God's mercies are always with His people. God looks upon His people and He loves them. And His mercies surround us and encompass us. As the psalmist here says, Psalm 32 and 10, Many sorrows shall be to the wicked, but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall encompass him about. And that word trust means to rule oneself upon, to rely upon, to depend upon Him. And then Proverbs, sorry, Psalm 56, verse 3. Have you ever been afraid? I'm sure there's times when we're all afraid. And the psalmist says, what time I'm afraid, I will trust in thee. So it's good to know even when we're afraid, perhaps on our own sometime about a matter, maybe to have to go to hospital, maybe something coming up about our own bodies that we have to go to medical profession about and we can be afraid. we can feel alone and the psalmist says here that what time I am afraid I will trust in thee so God can take away our fear and he can give us strength and grace at all times and we have just to trust him continually the whole Christian life is one of trust because we walk by faith we cannot see the Lord but we trust in him and God will not fail his people and then Proverbs 16 There are so many of them, but these are just some that I've looked upon and thought the Lord would have us bring. Proverbs 16 and 20 says, He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good. And whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he. So trusting in the Lord brings happiness. It brings us rejoicing because we have confidence in the Lord. We have trust in Him. knowing that he's faithful, knowing that he's true, knowing that he cannot fail. We trust in him and God gives us happiness along the way. We might not always be happy. I don't think any one of us are always up in that place of happiness. But we've always had peace and joy that God brings. And when we trust in him, God brings us happiness too, peace, contentment. And then there's some things that, unfortunately, the world trusts in, which they ought not to. Psalm 41 and 9, well this is actually about so-called friends. Psalm 41 and 9 says, Yea, mine own familiar friend in whom I trusted, which the need of my bread hath lifted up his heel against me. That was really a prophecy of Judas, wasn't it? Judas, the scariot, the traitor. And the Lord trusted. Well, the Lord says here, my own familiar friend, the one who claimed to be his friend, yet he was so unworthy of trust. Judas betrayed the Lord. You and I have to watch who we trust. We have to be careful of our friends. Now, I don't mean when your friends start doubting them. I don't mean that, but people sometimes would pretend to be friends and they're not friends. And this reminds us, yeah, my own familiar friend, one that he had trust in. And whom I trusted, which the need of my bread hath lifted up his heel against me. And sometimes even those that were close, they can let us down and do things that are wrong. And we put too much trust in them. We have to trust in the Lord. Then Psalm 44 and 6 says this. David says, For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. Now David, being a great soldier, knew how to use the bow. And he certainly knew how to use the sword and those things are the natural strength of an army, of a soldier. But David says, I will not trust in my bow, not in natural strength, not in natural ability. He was to trust in the Lord. He wasn't going to put his confidence in those things or his trust. And so many people today put their confidence in flesh, put their confidence in other things that they have and they put great confidence in and great trust. And then they're let down. Material things will let us down. Riches now some trust in them. Psalm 49 and 6 says this. They that trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem his brother nor give to God a ransom for him. For the redemption of their soul is precious and it ceaseth forever. We're not to trust in riches, and Psalm 52 and 7 would bear that out to him, and it says, Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. We're not to trust in riches, because I think it's, maybe it's in Proverbs where it says riches can fly away, and we know that today, don't know how many rich men even that had their wealth, And when the stock market or something goes, everything goes, and they've lost everything. So we're not to trust in riches, we all need money to live, but we're not to put our trust in it. We're not to depend upon it, we're to trust in the Lord that gives life and will look after His people. And then Psalm 115 verse 8, and how true of the world this is. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not. Eyes have they, but they see not. They have ears, but they hear not. Noses have they, but they smell not. They have hands, but they handle not. Feet have they, but they walk not. Neither speak they through their throat. They that make them are like unto them. So is everyone that trusteth in them. O Israel, trust thy in the Lord, He is their help and their shield. O Aaron, O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord. He is their help and their shield. So we're not to trust, well we don't thank God, we don't trust in idols. But many people even in the world as we look out, we see different religions, how they trust in idols. They bow down to them, stone idols. Many bow down to pictures and so on and they put confidence in these things. And it says here so clearly that they that make them are like unto them, so is everyone that trusted in them. Thank God you and I have been delivered from that and we're to trust in the Lord. And isn't it good that when we come to this house that that is our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. We have trust in Him because He saved us. And thank God when He saved us, He keeps us. And He'll keep us to the end. He's faithful and He's true and that's why we can trust Him. Because He cannot fail. I love it, we were in Nazar. He shall not fail. And He cannot fail and He will not fail. And that's why too, we can truly trust Him.
