“ I found the correct Bible reference. ”
I found a written form of Calvin's Ezekiel Lectures at the Christian Ethereal Library. The Bible reference Calvin referenced is Psalm 138:8, not Psalm 13:8 (which doesn't exist). Psalm 138:8 reads "The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: Thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: Forsake not the works of thine own hands."

“ Bible Reference is inaccurate ”
The lecture references Psalm 13:8, but no such verse exists! I wonder what reference Calvin intended to give. Does anyone know?

Let me say it again--the sole justification for producing and publishing any Bible translation is so that those who do not understand the words in the original languages can nevertheless gain access to them through words they do understand in their own language."

BUT:
The "sole justification for producing and publishing" The modern versions has been to change and modify doctrine.
By using OTHER texts and Roman texts the modern versions have muddied the Bible waters and made the doctrines obscure and ambiguous.

This has nothing to do with human effort to educate - That originates in the Roman Catholic, Pelagian or Arminian approach to knowledge of the truth.

The Catholics worship the originals of their effigies, such as their home made image of Christ whom they actually don't know. Their effigies of Mary, saints and all their other paraphernalia.

The Reformed (Calvinist) - Church ie the Church of the Elect - do not worship anybody but Sovereign God.

But I see your confusion in that all works based religions do introduce icons and idols, statuettes - touchy feely stuff - etc for human religious consumption and that does establish your "will worship"

Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not; 22 Which all are to perish with the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

I'd love to hear you say something about these 15ft statues of dead reformers
I know your strict adherence to the Arminian religious ideology puts you in close communion with the Vatican, John. But "Religious purpose" does have a specific aspect in the designation of the quote "graven image" industry.

But don't let anything God states deter you John. You carry on flogging your iconolatry.

Psalm 115:4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.

Here is the point I am trying to make, some old-timey Calvinists like Spurgeon and Whitefield and some of them maligned arminian types like the Wesleys knew something of the Power of the Holy Spirit that far too many people seeped in our modern intellectually precise(?) theologies are missing
The Calvinists read the WCF and the Canons of Dordt and perceive the Biblical accuracy of these confessions.

The Arminians even when they read the Bible choose to introduce man's ability to "cooperate" with God unto salvation. Thus the RCC heresy of salvation by works is claimed by them.

Calvinism is Biblical = Sola Scriptura.

Arminianism is a human concoction of religious hypothesis = Scriptura plus human endeavour.

There's a very simple, however subtle, 2-step process that they all are following: (a.) Change Bible doctrine by allowing female pastors (husband & wife co-pastors, guest preachers, female scholars, etc) and then (b.) invite immorality by approving an openly gay pastor.
And don't forget the other thing which the wicked do to make this abomination acceptable. That is change the english language into a lie and use it to deceive. Where 'gay' used to mean carefree, happy and brightly coloured - it now means perverted (to those who can see).

2. Nothing of what you have quoted suggests dipping or complete immersion. That didn't become a denominational distinctive until the Anabaptists introduced it in 1521.

It is your acceptance of this modern ideology which prevents you from perceiving Covenant Theology from Scripture and God's Covenant with the whole family. Beware the warning for your kids at Genesis 17:14, no sign and seal - no Covenant with God.

Is it also interesting to note that Christian doctrine is more readily accepted amongst those who lack any education?
Only the Elect of God can receive the truth that is Biblical Doctrine. Human intellectual assent and ability has absolutely nothing to do with this. GOD alone chooses whom He will reveal Bible Doctrine to. Thats why we can perceive that the reprobate, for example as in this case the muslim, cannot receive the Biblical truth written by God.

"Boko Haram, (a Hausa-language term for “Western education is forbidden, or sinful”) has carried on a low-level insurgency since 2009 to overturn Nigeria’s secular government and replace it with an Islamic system."

Whereas Muslim education instigates the cowardly slaughter of unarmed people for no other reason than an obvious and distinct lack of any education. It is interesting to note that the people who rule earth are mainly those who have received a western education. It is also interesting to note that muslim doctrine is more readily accepted amongst those who lack any education.

Heb 10:39
"39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul"

The important part of this verse is "believe to the saving of the soul."
If you cannot see the grace within that phrase then there is little hope for you.

The insurmountable problem with the Roman is that he is idolatrous, breaking the commandment of God worshipping the graven images which his "church" fabricates. This reveals the chink in his religious armour. Many call Christ Lord, Lord, but Christ does not know them. The Roman like Satan can quote from Scripture but cannot perceive the truth.

The Roman lives in a world without the King James Version, he lives in the world without the Word of God.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The posts below are not off topic but do you have the ability to see how that is?

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Jude v7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

About His servants God said

Matt 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

About government in our nations God said

Rom 13:1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

Rev Ian Paisley Falls into both these categories persecuted reviled and working wherein God hath ordained.

[A] [V]ersion has many faults,......satisfactory accuracy to the Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic of the Bible.
I would suggest some of you read the entire, and lengthy Comparing Bible Translations
Jim the great problem with your arguement in deriding God and His Holy Book the KING JAMES BIBLE, is that for four hundred years great Christian minds and experts in Hebrew and Greek, have studied, preached and taught fervently with GOD's blessing using the KING JAMES BIBLE.

Whereas the modern versions eg NASB/NIV have used a myriad of Greek texts, found for example in the trash cans of history, and changed the very Word of God itself, in their persuance of modern vernacular.

Thus it is not just updating the english which modern versions have tried to do, but CHANGING the Word of God; - WHICH GOD already had translated into english in 1611, in the KING JAMES VERSION.

Therefore comparing the modern versions with what GOD HAS USED to build His Church for four centuries is a waste of time. We trust in GOD, as Christians have for centuries, - not in publishing companies in todays covetous world.

Your statement is totally false because the King James Version of the Holy Bible did not come into existance until 1611 therefore Saint Paul could not possibly have used the King James Version of the Holy Bible.
Not true John.
The King James Bible is a direct quote word for word and inerrant of what God spoke, in Hebrew and Greek, through the Prophets and the Apostles. God saw to that!

BTW JY, I do hope the Lord has led you to get a copy of the King James.

Sounds like mystery religion to me. According to Mr. Calvin, Christ is "made known and held out to the view of all," but then all cannot know or view Christ unless they are the elect and have their eyes opened.
Is he made known to all or not? Is he held out to the view of all or not? Mr Calvin's response to those questions would seem to be "Yes."
Yes religion is a mystery to many.

Take your Roman Catholics for example they "believe" in THEIR version of Christ. So He is held out to them but they know not God!

As the Scripture states many are called but few are chosen(elected).

Then there is the truth taught by Jesus at Matthew 7.21-23 That bunch of people seemed to be very dedicated Christians - only to be told they were workers of iniquity whom Jesus did not know. Christ was held out to them but like many they could not perceive the true Son of God. They would rather fabricate their own christ and religious faith.

As Jesus taught in Mark 4:12 "That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them."
