Amen Thank you. We’ve been praying for your church since contacting you via email a couple of weeks ago. Since then, our 18 year old son who’s a member of thr rpcna has been banned from attending in person worship at the RPCNA church where he is in college... for a conviction against wearing a mask. My husband is an elder at our church, and wrote that session a long letter, using many of the same arguments you made in a sermon a few months ago. It was ignored and the session continues to ban him. As well as chastise for attending another church because that church doesn’t sing exclusively psalms. Talk about straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel. In the meantime, our session, where he is a member, has ignored the issue. I’m in complete disbelief at the state of the reformed church in America. I thank God for your ministry, because the churches around us refuse to listen or preach these great truths. |

A balm to my soul I homeschool like this. But lately I’ve been doubting and have been discouraged as none of my hs mom friends have stayed this course. I feel like an island, and while Matt 6:33 has been my anchor for years, the enemy has been hard at work on me lately. Thanks for this encouragement. |

Great Sermon! Important sermon which links an enigmatic promise made by Jesus to Nathaniel and recorded in the gospel of John with an intriguing event in the life of Jacob recorded in Genesis. More evidence that the NT is the continuation and fulfillment of revelation begun in the OT. |

I attend an acapella psalms only church. To briefly address the point/question as to acapella... in the OT worship service, the instrument/trumpet was only used to point to/begin the sacrifice. Since Christ is our sacrifice and a blood sacrifice is no longer needed, neither is the instrument. Ironically, I think of the bell ringing during the presentation of the eucharist in the catholic service... anyway, since God never commanded instruments in the corporate worship service other than what was mentioned above, the acapella stance is that what was not commanded is forbidden. There is a book by D.Prutow called Public Worship 101 that is VERY in depth on this issue. That's a very abbreviated reason for acapella. I do agree that there is such a refreshing simplicity of worship music done this way. |
