Bro US,    Your right, one day it will not be relevant to us.

Did you notice that the flood(2 Peter, 3:6,Psalm 90:5)repentence(2 Peter 3:9,Psalm 90:3)and the thousand years as a day(2 Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4) are all mentioned within the same context of the thousand years?

2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as *a watch in the night*.

What would be the purpose of a watch in the night?

A thief.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a *thief in the night;*

1 Thess 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as *a thief in the night.*

A watch in the night{darkness} appears to be the same as the darkness of the day of the Lord(Amos 5:18). The darkness{night} is due to the absence of the light of God’s grace and mercy which darkness passes when judgment on God’s enemies has been fully executed; which is why Paul said in Rom 13:12

The night(darkness) is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness(self righteous works Rom. 10:3,Eph. 5:11), and let us put on the armour of light(2 Cor 6:7).

But alas I am going to say in both cases the thousand years is literal
He Bro,
I respectfully disagree with your view considering we read in Psalm 90 in God's sight a thousand years are as a watch in the night. So my question would be what would that watch in a night mean as God equates a thousand years to it? Perhaps understanding that could help us?

Question. What precedent found anywhere in Scripture shows a thousand years when mentioned is not to be taken literally? Or maybe another use of the term thousand in the Bible where it doesn’t literally mean a thousand? Thanks for your insights.
Psalm 90:4. For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

Here a thousand years in God's sight gets two descriptive figures.
One being as yesterday when it is past and
A watch in the night.

Hey Bro Us,

I said that particular interpretation was well received despite the refuting which Daniel 8:20-21.
In other words it is a popular position among many despite having clear Scriptural evidence which renders it a faulty view.

To claim that a microchip under the skin answers to this definition, instead of a simple brand or tattoo as the Romans used on slaves and soldiers, violates their Literalism principle.
Good comment Neil,

God said he would write on hearts His law per Jer 31:33 so why wouldn't the counterfeit gospel which Paul spoke of the Galatians where being bewitched with be done in the same manner? That is having the counterfeit gospel written stamped or engraved on their heart by those who were the deceivers.

Titus 1:10
For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

Hey Bro Rnel,

My apologies if I mistook your comments to be coming from the well received interpretation that Alexander the great was the great horn which Daniel 8:20-21 refutes.
There are, however, some good unanswered questions regarding the third temple you say must there must be which I'm interested in hearing the replies on those questions.

No worries Bro. US, all is good and it was nice to read the great comments by Bro Lurker as well which I could not have better said myself in addition to some very reasonable questions concerning the third temple to which I'm interested to hear what Bro Rnel has to say on the matter.

Please read Daniel 8 and see what happened with the temple in 171BC with Antiochus Ephiphnees( sorry for spelling)
Hey Rnel,

In reading up on your suggestion on Daniel 8, I cam across something that may interest you.

Dan 8:8-12  Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken...

I'm presuming that your referring to the interpretation which identifies this great horn of the he-goat as Alexander the great of the Persian empire. Furthermore, the 4 horns which came up after Alexander's death were the leaders of the Persian empire. The empire then was divided into 4 parts. Antiochus IV Epiphanes arose from the part of the divided Persian empire that ruled over Israel and it is widely believed that he set up the abomination of desolation by sacrificing swine on the temple altar.

However, there is a problem with this interpretation:

Dan 8:20-21  The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

The Mede/Persian empire was destroyed by the he-goat and the great horn figured the first king of the Greek empire per Daniel 8:21.

Thanks for the reply but I don’t agree with you.

We read Paul says before Christ comes the son of perdition will sit in the temple claiming to be God.
This is the abomination of desolation. This is what Jesus was referring to in Matt 24:15 Jesus himself read Daniel and said we must go there.
Read Daniel 12 you will see it fits with the end times. There must be a temple again.
No problem Rnel. I agree that Daniel is cited by Jesus and does provide information for us. But The temple in question is spoken of quite often elsewhere in the prophets and they do bring in more light to the picture as well and in my opinion should not be ignored.
If The son of perdition fulfilled prophecy by following in his father's footsteps, Seems like it would be beneficial to see what those steps of the father's were.

What were the fathers steps which God hated? See Jer. 2:13 and also the first chapter of Isaiah.

Isa 1:22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

Hey Rnel,

My apologies. Forget my earlier comment.I got a chance to reread the post and see what your talking about regarding Matt 24:15 and yes, that temple was the temple in Judea(Judah).

Here is what Zephaniah spoke of regarding that temple.

Zep 3:1-4  Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!
She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God.
Her princes within her are roaring lions{see 1 Peter 5:8}; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.
Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: **her priests have polluted the sanctuary**, they have done violence to the law.

We can see pollution of the sanctuary occurs when the daily sacrifice(Heb 13:15) is taken away which her priests did and replaced it with the abomination that maketh desolate as found here in Daniel.

Dan 11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

They took away the daily sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving replacing it with works of self righteousness(Rom 10:3) which is the abomination of desolation.

Rnel, I'll respond to you later when more time permits.
In the meantime perhaps you can provide what you think the abomination of desolation is.

Please tell me you know of another temple also? Jesus also knew another one according to Matt 24:15 and wasn’t referring to the body but in Judea.
Ps: He also did not refer to 70AD There was no abomination of desolation yet.
"Please tell me you know of another temple also?"

Sure do.

Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

That temple Jesus said he would destroy and build a new one three days after without hands in my opinion was NOT the one destroyed in 70.

"There was no abomination of desolation yet."

What do you think the abomination of desolation is?

What think thee on said topic?
I think you have a great question there Bro QC.

I know you asked John the question but I went looking after I read it as it caught my interest and thought I'd share what I found.

The short answer is (From one perspective) When we go searching the Scriptures for the answer, we are asking Him for the answer.

There was a time when that was not so by His people as described here.

Hosea 4:12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

Jer 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

I guess from another point of view but the same premise, if we are party to the bride of Christ we would do well to ask for counsel from our Husband than anyone or anything else.

===

Bro. John I will keep you in prayer for relief from joints, back and jaw.
