Really? You do know that the UCC is the most liberal, anything goes, kind of church don't you? He could still be a Muslim and allowed to be a member of UCC. He could be an openly gay Muslim and still be a UCC member or even a minister.
John UK wrote: Okay Bert, your article states: "These different ways of talking about being "born again" describe effects of baptism, which Christ speaks of in John 3:5 as being "born of water and the Spirit." In Greek, this phrase is, literally, "born of water and Spirit," indicating one birth of water-and-Spirit, rather than "born of water and of the Spirit," as though it meant two different births‚ÄĒone birth of water and one birth of the Spirit." [end QUOTE]Now observe please: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:5-7 KJV Observe that Jesus places a statement about two separate births between the statements about "Born again". #1 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. (This is clearly when we were born as a baby.) #2 That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (This is clearly when we are born again by the Spirit.) So the expression "born of water and of the Spirit" refers to the two separate experiences of birth: physical and spiritual. #2 Salvation is not in the hand of the baptiser
"Do you have to go to church to be a Christian? A new book penned by 61-year-old Anne Graham Lotz suggests the answer is ‚Äėno"
This is true. Being a church member and attending church does not make one a Christian, but Scripture says:
"Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised; And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
‚ÄúTraditionalist Catholic‚ÄĚ leaders last month expelled 57 evangelical Christians from towns in two states for refusing to participate in their religious festivals."
Just wait till they re-gain world power and see what happens.
"And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration."
