But IMHO the matter of Sunday services is not so much an issue of having them or not but WHY!
Yes. Certainly, we need revival rather than apostasy.

When healthy church activities that once were more common have become more scarce, then revival is needed.

Beyond revival of the existing churches, let expansion of the Kingdom of God continue!

Whatever happened to preaching (that stays close to Scripture texts and includes application and calls to action)?

Whatever happened to public, outdoor baptisms?

Whatever happened to afternoon and evening observances of the Lord's Supper (Luke 22:19 Luke 24:35; Acts 20:7)?

Good points.

Also...

Whatever happened to public means of grace?

Whatever happened to prayer?

Whatever happened to prayer meetings?

Whatever happened to fellowship?

Whatever happened to church works of service and mercy?

Whatever happened to "provoke one another to love and good works" (Hebrews 10:24-25)?

Whatever happened to outreach and evangelism?

Whatever happened to "evangelistic services"?

Whatever happened to "seek ye first the Kingdom of God"?

Almighty God has all knowledge and all power. Almighty God is always truthful and never deceitful. Almighty God is always wise and kind. Almighty God is eternal and rules over all the earth.

Civil governments can serve God (1 Peter 2:14). This is true.

However much civil governments may want to be like God, they do not have all of God's attributes.

"Turn! Turn! Turn! (to Everything There Is a Season)", often abbreviated to "Turn! Turn! Turn!", is a song written by Pete Seeger in the late 1950s. The lyrics, except for the title which is repeated throughout the song, and the final verse of the song, are adapted word-for-word from Chapter 3 of the Book of Ecclesiastes, set to music and recorded in 1962. The song was originally released as "To Everything There Is a Season" on The Limeliters' album Folk Matinee and then some months later on Seeger's own The Bitter and the Sweet.
i
The song became an international hit in late 1965 when it was covered by the American folk rock band The Byrds, bowing at #80 on October 23, 1965, before reaching #1 on the Hot 100 chart on December 4, 1965, and also peaking at #26 on the UK Singles Chart. Source: en.wikipedia.org

No #1 pop song has ever quoted the Bible more than Pete Seeger's Turn, Turn, Turn.

Please join in prayer for new NYC mayor,
Bill de Blasio.

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty." (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

Watch and pray.

Therefore said Jesus unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into his harvest. (Luke 10:2)

Almighty God calls for all of his people to pray for more laborers to work in the harvest to gather in more of his people who will pray to gather in still more.

How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! (Romans 10:15).

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and tribes, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands. -Revelation 7:9

The kingdom of God is growing. Earthly kingdoms can resist it but not ultimately defeat it.

Pray for your leaders (1 Timothy 2). Faithful leadership requires doing little things well when no one is watching.

When the cost of discipleship is taught as being zero, it is easy to enter a Christian profession and easy to exit.

Jesus said: Pick up your cross and follow me. Seek first the Kingdom of God.

“ Great Sermon! ”
This is a testimony to the evangelistic influence of kindness, hospitality and wisdom. if what the Bible says is true (and it is), then we are all in big trouble eternally (until we obtain the Savior). Jesus made it clear in John 7:17 that it was only through obedience to God's will that one could know the truth.

Sermon:
Where is the Kingdom of God?
Dr. Peter Masters

“ The Largest Kingdom ”
The Kingdom of God is the largest kingdom. The Kingdom of God has been represented on earth since the beginning of time. The Kingdom of God has drawn in seekers after God and converts throughout the world from every nation across the generations. Earthly empires rise and fall. They last for a season. They may be mighty empires but they only had in them the people that were alive for a period of existence. The Kingdom of God may seem to be only a small minority of people. But when you add them all up across the decades and generations and centuries, in total it will turn out to be the biggest kingdom and the biggest empire in the world. It is certainly the most powerful because it conquers hearts. The Kingdom of God is a conquest in hearts. It is a kingdom of reconciliation with God and it's so powerful. Much greater is the work to turn hearts and to change people than to humble and subdue people with arms and weapons. The Kingdom of God is the largest and mightiest of kingdoms. It is an invisible kingdom because it is a spiritual kingdom. God has his own subjects but it's not everyone.

The story of Israel's son, Joseph, in Genesis 37-50 is full of remarkable Providences and this is a remarkable find.

Here's a link to more information that includes a small photo of what appears to be the coins:
http://www.memri.org/bin/latestnews.cgi?ID=SD256109

Please note, however, finding such coins may not convince any to believe. Some won't even hear. Jesus said: "If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." (Luke 16:31)

If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Salvation has to do with obedience to Christ not mere lip service to Him.
Michael, I agree.

Faith and obedience (and outreach to all nations) are linked together by the Apostle Paul at the beginning and end of the Book of Romans. See Romans 1:5 and 16:26.

The Great Commission given by Jesus Christ also includes a call to obedience: "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them...teaching them to OBEY all things whatsoever I have commanded you..." (Matthew 28:18-20)

If you read the whole article in the New York Times, it makes a pluralistic survey of various prayer approaches that include Evangelical, Pentecostal, Anglican, Catholic, Jewish, and even gay perspectives. As the title implies, the article implies a relativistic stance against absolute truth and a right way to pray.

The article advocates that "you learn from other people" but it is best to follow the best examples. Psalm 1 advocates that we "walk not in the counsel of the ungodly" but rather delight in the law of God and meditate in it day and night. The Bible teaches us much about God. As we get to know someone, we learn about the best way to approach them.

Lydia of Thyatira sold purple cloth and helped to establish the church at Philippi. Priscilla and her husband, Acquila, traveled and helped Paul in multiple cities. The Proverbs 31 women planted a vineyard and bought real estate.

I do believe in gender differences and that women have a special responsibility to care for the home. (Titus 2:5).

Caring for the home can include grocery shopping :-) and may require some activity outside the four walls.

Nursing the sick outside the home can be an honorable profession.

Sunshine helps to activate Vitamin D and can promote health. :-}

There is a needless travel for women that can lead to trouble (Genesis 34:1 ff).

Prayer: Lord, please work in every place to keep men from temptation to do evil and to protect women from the evils of tempted men.

And, yes, women can be tempted and do evil too. Please save us from that.

May all nations bow the knee and obey and honor the only everlasting Creator, Judge, and Savior.
