The real problem here is that Dr. Patterson fails to grasp the real history of Baptists. In England, long years ago, the Baptists were accused by other non-conformists of not being "sound in the faith" as Presbyterians and other independents held to Calvinism.

To respond, a large group of Baptist associations go together and said, "We will state our doctrinal positions, and in doing so will adopt the exact language of the Calvinistic "Westminster Confession" (except on the doctrine of church order and the ordinances, plus two or three other minor points). So Baptists there took a decidedly CALVINISTIC approach as to soteriology.

History is STUBBORN for the truth, Dr. Patterson, and I wish you would remember also your own great Southern Baptist leaders who, in the early years of the denominations (from the mid-1800s), were fully committed to the FIVE POINTS OF CALVINISM: P. H. Mell, Richard Furman, Richard Fuller, B. H. Carroll, T. T. Eaton, John R. Graves, J. P. Boyce, etal. Then go back to the Old Country, and looming large over the Baptist estate are some of the STRONGEST ADHERENTS of predestination that ever lived: John Gill, John Bunyan, Benjamin Keach, Alexander Carson, C. H. Spurgeon, etal.

BAPTISTS and PRESBYTERIANS even cooperated very closely in evangelism

Quickened With Christ - 01

“ This is a POWERFUL WORD OF WARNING! ”
THIS IS A CALL BACK TO "THE OLD PATHS" when Baptists believed in the sovereign work of the Spirit in quickening a poor lost, totally-depraved sinner. It is a call back to "the faith of our fathers." May God bless all who hear this message ... and I pray they will TAKE HEED.

Making Melody In Our Hearts

“ Clear Teaching in the 'Old School' ”
I recommend this message because Bro. Floyd gives the clear teaching emanating from the Reformation, from the Old Baptists and the good Puritans — it's called "the Regulative Principe of Worship," which in essence states that we CAN ONLY WORSHIP GOD IN A MANNER CLEARLY DICTATED BY NEW TESTAMENT PRINCIPLE OR PRACTICE. What the Apostles of our Lovely Lord instituted in His worship is all we can legally have. And it's not a 'LEGALISM' but a part of our FREEDOM FROM THE OLD COVENANT WITH ITS TYPES AND SHADOWS. This is "strict construction," much the same as the "Conservative" principle of interpreting the U.S. Constitution in governmental affairs. THE POWERS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED TO THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT BY THE CONSTITUTION IS ALL THEY CAN LEGITIMATELY DO. But today the "liberals" and the "politically correct" will say, "Well, the Constitution doesn't prohibit so-and-so, thus the Federal Government may do it!" Same as the churches who ignore the N. T. principle of worshiping Jehovah God in and by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, under the leadership of God's Holy Spirit. Hear Brother Floyd carefully before you reject the message. That's all I ask.

“ Yes, our LORD is victorious KING: ”
I enjoyed this good message by Bro. Justice. It's encouraging to know that in a day when puny MAN thinks he can do something about "climate change" and other global issues, that our LORD is ruling over all and He controls all of His creation now and unto its climax. Bro. Justice has upheld the SOVEREIGNTY of our crucified, buried, rise and reigning LORD! Hear this message.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Here is a clear message that stresses the SOVEREIGN GRACE OF GOD, and rejects the so-called "Free offer of the Gospel." Before you brand this preacher as a heretic, LISTEN TO HIS MESSAGE! We have known him for years and found him to be a "faithful witness."

“ A Clear Outline of Things to Come! ”
We believe that Pastor Mencarow has handled this "summary" very faithfully, and we pray that all who hear this message will be blessed. Many have made foolish predictions based on vain speculations, but here is the kind of sermon we can recommend — as this preacher seems more concerned to honor the WORD of GOD on the subject. Our Lord is going to return to Earth! And it could be SOON! Are you ready?

HEAR THIS SERMON! It will possibly STARTLE you out of your lethargy, as it has somewhat done this for me. He does not cut off any corners or rough edges from the Word. HEAR THIS SERMON!

Has God Preserved His Word?
Rev Malcolm Watts

“ Essential Consideration! ”
We believe this is the crux of the whole matter in considering Bible versions. Which TEXT has God preserved? Which ENGLISH BIBLE is the faithful rendering of God's Word? It cannot be that God Almighty allowed us to go for many years (even centuries) without a FAITHFUL COPY OF HIS HOLY WORD! And that faithful copy we have in the AV "King James" Bible. Before you become too deeply infected with "modern version mania," please take the time to hear this great message.

Notice below we have Old Abe telling us the truth. But he is bringing up points that Obama, who claims to be in Lincoln's tradition, is flatly ignoring! wwf
--------------------------------------

WISE WORDS FOR THE NEW YEAR

* You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
* You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
* You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
* You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
* You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
* You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
* You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could do and should do for themselves.

Do you recognize the author?

It was Abraham Lincoln.
