Covenant "unto" them, not with them.
That's not the point keep looking.

Was that necessary "Christian"??

Apparently you are seeking to destroy the Biblical witness of Remnant and its perseverance throughout history by the grace of God. That is untrue and unbiblical.
Also you are insulting God by daring to suggest that He is not competent to maintain His witness in history.
The fact that you imply that God does not keep covenant with His Remnant teaches a failure in God and introduces a doubt in Christian Faith.

You need to find out about and identify the "poor of the flock."

I told you there was no point to further discussion on this matter. There are many who fail to realise the significance of the eternal Covenant of Grace.

God be with you.

my question?
God annulled the covenant He had with the nation Israel.

But God has never never annulled the covenant of Grace which HE maintains with the "true Israel."

That Covenant is eternal by the work and purpose of God and since the foundation of the world when He made it with our Mediator.

Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again.
25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

Rom 9.6 mentions no covenant with the remnant.
Hodge says Christ is the federal head. Where does he say about a covenant directly with the remnant?
Rom 9:6 For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
# Verse teaches TWO peoples in Israel - ONE Remnant. TWO Reprobate. Guess which one God makes the Covenant with. Therefore this demonstrates covenant personal relationship is selective, viz election.

Covenant - Is God making a personal relationship with HIS elect/Remnant.
Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly."
Note: God "MAKES" the covenant.
Note: Between GOD and man (Abraham in this case)
Note: How significant this is to have GOD Himself create this special relationship and fellowship with sinful man.
Note: God makes promises for HIM to fulfil in Covenant.
Note: Ultimately God (see Hodge) makes HIS OWN BELOVED SON the mediator for this Covenant. A task HE gave to Jesus before the foundation of the world.

Hodge points out Christ is mediator of Covenant ON BEHALF OF ELECT, (Remnant).

GOD began covenant with Adam in the very beginning of creation.

..great shepherd of the sheep, through the BLOOD of the EVERLASTING COVENANT Heb 13:20

Care to point us to any covenant specifically with the remnant?
Why do you in subsequent posts shift ground to speak of the covt of grace
a. Covenant of Grace. Note Rom 9:6.
b. Did you read what Hodge said about the Covenant??

What is this remnant? The elect of God, chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world?
Is this not referring to the covenant of grace?
a. Yes.
b. Yes.

Now, for my question. Did God cut Beauty and Bands asunder?
a. If the Apostles/disciples were the only 'Remnant' in Scripture - Then 'we' as well as everybody else in Bible days have no hope??
b. If God did (does) keep covenant with His Remnant, then who is left in the Zech 11 situation whom God breaks covenant with?

I didn't intend to continue with this discussion since the dispensationalist (partial or otherwise) does not perceive continuity in the Bible.
However, There is no time in history when God has not been in covenant with His Remnant.
The perseverance of the saints has worked through history and is the work of the Lord. God preserves His Remnant - Witness, not man.
The Lord has never been without His Remnant And His Remnant have never been without His covenant. NB: Romans 9 refers.
Zech 11:11 The 'poor of the flock' (a) 'waited upon the Lord" and (b) 'knew' the Word of the Lord. They did not break covenant with the Lord, therefore God did not break covenant with His Remnant. Nor would He.
To assume that the Remnant are no longer around at any stage underestimates the Lord Himself.
Reference the situation found in Zech 11; - Do you think God breaks covenant with His Remnant just because those around them are wicked and disobedient? If so as I pointed out below there is not much hope for the true church today then is there.

"7 ***And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock.***
And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock."
***Note the first part of the verse.

It always happens when they can't answer the point, Lurker. They slink off until the next time. My guess is that they pore through all their literature looking for help on certain issues, and when they can't find any, they are stumped, like a batsman out of his crease.
I wouldn't have thought you were that naive John. Obviously I was wrong.
You cannot convince modern dispensationalists that their unBiblical theory invented in the 19th century is wrong. Ask Lurker to identify the "poor of the flock" which is the section of the verse he keeps cutting out.

And btw since you agree with Lurker how do you explain this 'god' who dumps the very Remnant who obey him when thing become wicked in the nation.

Obviously you have a point to make so why keep us in the dark? Doesn't the bible agree with your cherished covenant theology? Out with it.
Well Lurker;
Zech 11:7 Says that God will feed His "Poor of the Flock"
V11 Says that the "poor of the flock" waited upon the Lord. And the "poor of the flock" knew the Word of God.

So these are the people of God known as the Remnant. His saints or disciples. (And of course we cannot forget the perseverance of the saints and the part God plays therein).

Now Lurker I'm sure you wouldn't expect God to reject His Remnant and break covenant with them would you? Especially a Remnant who remain loyal and obedient to the Lord as the "Poor of the flock" clearly do. Therefore the Covenant remains in unity and continuity, with His Remnant, (and is known as the Covenant of Grace).

After all God would not break covenant with His Remnant just because all those people around them are wicked and disobedient, would He? There wouldn't be much hope for the church today if that was the case.

So the Lord has never been without His Remnant - And His Remnant have never been without His Covenant.

You sound like you're shocked.
How about you read Zech 11 and report back with your findings. I'll be waiting right here.
Tell me something Lurker, Who do you think the "poor of the flock" are, in Zech 11:7,11?

1) No. See Zech 11:7-14 preferably in the KJV to see both covenants were broken by God when Jesus was betrayed by Judas
God has always preserved His Remnant. The Remnant has always been present in witness on earth throughout history. Always! Are you suggesting that God 'broke' (annulled)? His Covenant "with His Remnant"?
