“ Great Sermon! ”
I have listened to several messages by Pastor Carlsen on SA, and, each time, I appreciate him even more! There is never a check in my spirit as he speaks - only, a "yes," and "amen" as he faithfully proclaims God's word. This is another excellent sermon, and will bless the hearer.

Christ taught servant leadership. Most people will follow this type of leadership.

Christian women should have no problem submitting to such leadership in the home. There is a built-in design within the woman that wants to respond. There is a built-in design within the man to lead. Of course, this has all been corrupted by the curse, but is being restored (through sanctification) in the one indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

A Judge's son with whom I worked made a statement that stuck with me: "The principles of the Bible are beneficial, if followed, even to the one who is not a Christian."

God is our Maker. He knows how relationships work best. We can trust Him.

Coming from another woman, I really appreciate your candidness...
Thanks!
Alan H.,

Thank you for your gracious comment. You have always been gracious in your postings.

As I consider my posting, I'm reminded that I should be less impetuous and more mindful of how long these things hang around. I tend to vent in print. It's a reminder to me that I will give an account for my words, and I should continue to ask the Lord to set a guard over my mouth.

Blessings to you and yours.

I knew when I posted that that someone would quote Prov. 1:26.

In every other case, and there are many, mocking is considered cruel.

In Isa. 28:22 "Be not mockers. ."

Matt. 27:41 "Chief priests mocked Him [Jesus]"

I think this may have been the hardest trial that Jesus bore . .to know that the very ones created by God, and some of for whom He would die, MOCKED Him. How CRUEL!

So, mocking is considered cruel by Scripture, and Jesus did not mock anyone.

As to those whom you say deserve such mocking and worse, I think I would be in tears to see people so terribly lost, and to know that but by the Grace of God, there go I.

See 2 Tim. 2:23-26

I can only speak from my personal experience. I have known a lot of people who attended some type of RC school and every single one of them has a skewed view of Biblical Christianity. Many of them have no use for God at all. Some of them are still committed RCs but in my mind, that's no better than being a complete pagan.
I'm sure that not everyone who's ever attended RC schools shares the same experiences. I can only speak for the ones I've known and they are many.
That's fair. All we have are our personal experiences and in exchanging them with others we can broaden our understanding, can we not? :-)

Thanks for sharing.

An unrepentant heart will be the reason for one's abode in hell, not one sin, or many sins, or a particular sin. Forgiveness is offered, the price has been paid, the Father is calling, the Son atoned for, the Holy Spirit is wooing - and "you would not" NOT "you could not."

This sort of thing must never be debated. It must be mocked and ridiculed and just held in ourtright derision. Jesus himself mocked the Pharisees, we must mock the Pariahs. It is pointless to debate the delusional. Call evil what it is and just mock them. Satan can't stand humor, and he can't stand being mocked. Remember, when we all are called home, we will look on the wretched Lucifer and his minions and shake our heads in disbelief as we say: THIS is the man who led so many astray, who did so much evil? He won't look so tough then. Pray for your enemies, but mock whatever they may lie to you about....and maybe, just maybe they will be shamed into looking for the truth.
Mocking is of Satan, and unfit for Christians. You are advocating Christians to sin. Shame on you!

Actually, even non-christians with notable character would not resort to such low-level tactics. Mocking is just pure evil.

I was talking to someone yesterday about how EVERYONE I have ever known who grew up attending a RC school has an utter contempt for anything Biblical and a strange disdain for authority.
My husband came out of parochial schools, and the Catholic Church, and rejected the system, but not the Bible.

My Catholic neighbor, and seemingly a born again Believer, will not leave the Catholic Church because to do so would mean separating herself from her family.

My Jewish friend from college attended Parochial schools, as did most Jewish children, because Parochial schools were better than the public school system.

Another Catholic friend from college stills loves everything Catholic.

These are "everyday, run-of-the-mill, Roman Catholic, and/or attendees of RCC schools," and do not fit your description.

Sharon Watkins, Pastor, speaking at the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral, and president of the Disciples of Christ Ministries, should be convincing proof that women should not speak from the pulpit, though Scripture alone should be sufficient.

Sharon Watkins is a disgrace to the name of the LORD, and I am cringing that we share the same first name.

My grandmother always said that my name meant "rose" - a fragrant aroma. This woman does the name an injustice, and I can only watch this service with the sound muted.

If I am saddened by such a service, the LORD's displeasure must be great!

Sermon:
The Necessity of Godly Fear

“ Great Sermon! ”
Thank you so much for this sermon which nourished my soul. This reverential awe of God has been lost in most of the gatherings of "christians" that I have been associtated with. In a neighborhood Bible study conducted by a PCA elders' wife, I was the lone person, rejecting Rick Warren's book. Needless to say, I was looked on as a divisive person. When the majority of "christians" and even pastors promote books by Warren, Wilkinson (Jabez), and Hybels' model for church growth, one is alone when taking a stand against the status quo. He/she is told not to be divisive, and that a christian is called to submit to leadership. I've listened to this sermon twice, and I hope to listen again. The Truth of God's Word faithfully presented brings comfort to my heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Pastor Derek. I still have a problem with a christian having no rights, and everything in me asks, "is this so?" Does it mean passivism? I tend to be much more one driven to take a stand. If God had allowed and I had been born a man, I have the heart of a Wilberforce. Is it wrong to stand for what is right always?
