Great debate! While I'm not at all supportive of the Church of Christ denomination, its quite clear that scripture is overwhelmingly on the side of baptismal regeneration. It was amazing how much linguistic gymnastics was necessary to try and overcome scriptures clarity on the subject. Dont let the fringe element of pat's church deter you from listening with an open mind.
Very intriguing He was able to essentially put every form of christianity on one side of the scales and identify all their particular problems, but then looking at his particular denomination they are completely biblical but the things that arent are good things theres no problem with them. Its very difficult to believe this is a fair and balanced survey of the roman church when everyone but him and his have dangerous beliefs.
This is why im becoming catholic Wow another great message from pastor paul. Ive listened to his sermons for years and over the past two years have been investigating the catholic church. 2/3 way through the sermon he made the point that tipped me out of protestantism and away from the illogical approach of sola scriptura. He said "this is the heart of christianity..." He then says "but i might misinterpret the bible but if look down through 2000 years of church history here is what we find" and then goes on to preach on the redemption we have through christ. Amen to all of it! I cannot trust myself or any other great teacher on sermon audio or any denomination, commentary or institutes of the Christian religion. I must read the bible in light of what Christians have CONSISTENTLY taught through history. Praise God for this sermon and any other pastor who has the guts to ne honest about interpretation and church history. Thank you mr. Washer for confirming my decision
