Not your pope wrote: Isn't this the razor's edge? (1.) Stick-gatherer (disobedient) executed (Numbers 15:32-36). (2.) Church leaders tithe (obedient) but rebuked by Jesus (Matthew 23:23). We don't know the stick-gatherer's heart but he's immediately executed for his disobedience (i.e., lack of faith, hope and love?). In this NT passage we learn the Church leaders neglected justice, mercy and faith. Although I understand (2.) because Jesus could see the Church leaders' hearts, why was the execution (1.) necessary? How is this teaching even helpful for today's Christian faithful? Is the modern Christian not to worry one iota about working on the Lord's Day? Or should he pay close attention to the stick-gatherer's fate?
You have failed to demonstrate that what has happened on SA is "work"!
What about the priests that ministered in the Temple, or the minister who preaches on the Lord's Day... they were/are working!
