Newcomer,
I read your post, responded and Mozzilla couldn't transfer it. Lost to computer space. I visited the link you gave. First place I look at in an unfamiliar place - "What we believe" It stated it was to be forth coming. I left the site
This Lord's Day it would seem better for me to read or listen to what I know to be sound, because I know what the preacher or speaker believes.
The Church visible will be less militant to itself when there is doctrinal agreement in the truth and fewer false teachers.
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Mourner,

Sorry your expectations ended so suddenly and without fruit. I did not realize that the Statement of Faith had been removed.
I visited it today and found other changes. I can't understand why. Nevertheless, I found the teachings on the book of Colossians reassuring of our state and stand in Christ.

Mike wrote:
If only the gun lobby was doing the killing...
What would be interesting to know is, why there is no interest on the government's or the media's part in the 2500 plus shootings in Chicago in 2014, or the 2300 plus shootings so far this year. This is a liberal run city with very strict gun laws. The "gun lobby" is right to oppose more of the same death wish by those who do not see the fallen nature of man at work. No rock or club laws were seen needed when Cain slew Abel. God did not blame the tool. There ought to be understanding seen in this.
Murder begins in the heart. Therefore, it must be changed with the Gospel of peace.

If guns are restricted, then knives would be used, or poison, fire, etc. You name it. A murderer will find a way, though more difficult and for obvious reasons more personalized. E.g. unless he does it the way Jim Jones did it.

Hating another is murder. This is why the heart has to be changed; the "heart" meaning the mind; how one thinks. Man needs the mind of Christ.

Now. The Law of God would disarm all men. A law established by man would arm a select few.

Hatred is murder unless it is hatred of sin and evil.

Hatred is murder.

This is my personal opinion:

As it relates to high suicide rates among transgenders and others engaging in sexual anomalies, it is this.
The instruction from 2 Corinthians 10:12 states clearly who the spiritual man is and what he does - For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

So why do we buy into the world's definition of who and what is acceptable? It constantly influences us to succomb to it's evil standards. We are so infected with the lies of the world until all we do is find fault with others and complain even about ourselves. We are not satisfied with anyone nor anything; always seeking something "new." Our spirits are restless. Our minds are ever changing with the latest false concept.

Who do you know of that is completely satisfied with their appearance or possessions? Who do you know that is satisfied with simply being loved and cared for? Man wants to change everything and, I say again, is not satisfied. Even sin does not satisfy man. Thank God it doesn't. But sin causes man to look for more intensifying sinful pleasure. Living in the realm of death, what's left but to seek it?

Mourner, and others

May I join this discussion? Thank you.

A while ago I came across great teachings from the book of Colossians. It was amazing exegesis done by pastor Rick Knapp. It teaches the oneness we have with Christ corporately incorporated into his corporeal body. We are his body; flesh and bones. He is the Head. I hope I am saying this correctly. I certainly don't want to discredit pastor Knapp. He relates it to Ephesians in regards to the "body."

The teaching is amazing and would benefit anyone willing to take the time to listen. Also, his teaching on Phillipians is good in that we see a militaristic formation of the body in dealing with one another. Again, I hope I am not taking away from his teaching, nor reading into it what is not intended. I do forget a lot; especially because I have no one to help clarify what I think I may have heard - no reinforcement.

I do caution anyone choosing to listen to listen to him. But regardless of what we hear, we are required to be diligent in searching the scriptures to see if these teaching line up correctly.

H. G. C. Moule seems to be thorough also.

I have found that this man has a heart after God just as some of you. You'll find his teachings at:

Unfortunately, we are all guilty of this - stealing (robbing).

Pastors regularly preach to the economically poor without coming to their aid. Pew warmers do the same. We find that in flourishing ministries, pastors build bigger homes out in the suburbs, etc, Pew warmers do the same. Pastors and other church leaders multiply silver, car (horses), and wives (adulterers) without relying on daily needs.
It is surely of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed.

There is no discernment of the LORD'S body among whom are the impoverished, hungry, and imprisoned. There is a "bootstrap" mentality among Christians and in the world. I sometimes wonder if we are a greater problem than we realize; causing many to blaspheme our LORD.
We rob God of honor.
Recently a pastor in Pittsburgh was arrested for having significant amounts of various drugs in his church. How sad is that!

WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE?

Deut. 5:29 "O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever." Our children are in for hard times.

“ Great Sermon! ”
What a great message encouraging believers to pray against His enemies. When our eyes behold the glory of God, what else can we do but realize that it is not unto us, but unto God for His mercy and for His truths sake that He vindicates His own holy name? It is time to call upon our sovereign God to crush His enemies; if we love Him and the lost.

I recall one Lord's Day when I was struggling before the Lord over matters that so greatly concerned the glory of God and the good of His Church. I'd come to read Mathew Poole on Genesis 6 from his Commentary on the Bible, I have recommend it here in the past.
In that portion of truth I found more than enough to call like a trumpet to war against everything that would attempt to mix the godly line of Seth with the daughters of men. That is the real issue here preserving truth from generation to generation. Sound doctrine of the Word of God taught by the Holy Spirit that proceeds from the Father and the Son is not optional and it can be known. It has been known to the true religion historically.
Never heard the man in question but the other men who fall in with him on sa I have and I cannot finish listening to what they preach, it is so contrary to what I believe. Pluralism is not a good thing and it is dangerous which is obvious just reading this thread, but I I thank God for what I've learned, even in the reading of it to avoid.
The entertainment industry; this includes news media, has lured us into a world of fantasy; this includes toys, so that everything is seen as myth; the Bible too. God help us.

A good read is 1 Sam 12:19-25 because We the People have done wickedly. Daniel prayed to the Lord because of the failure of God's people. God has us all in derision. And He is still orchestrating the affairs of man.

Pray that God causes the ass to speak again, and with such searing words that the listener's ear wax melts.

John Y., you're going to have a problem.
"Francis's fidelity to Catholic social teaching has unhinged conservatives who have grown accustomed to the assumption that the Pope was just a Republican in a white robe." from, http://www.abc.net.au/religion/articles/2015/09/25/4319374.htm (Conservative Anxieties: Pope Francis and the DeAmericanization of Catholicism).
One has to remember a priest can't have a sexual partner, now if he admitted he was living with a woman like a wife, the priest in the article would have probably been defrocked, but queerness isn't that big a thing in the Romish Church.
It should be welcoming. But is should make most feel uncomfortable about pet sin(s). None should be allowed to settle on their lees. The only comfort we have is in the fact that the debt of sin has been paid.
There is judgment for those rejecting the One who did so. There is a judgment to come who practice evil deeds. They are condemned already

Well, back to the article, Billy Graham should be much more interested in missions than morality, you can listen to the sermon, http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=1112121626190 (God's Sovereignty Over Rulers & Nations) then you can see how accurate my comment to that sermon is, which of course isn't all that long.
"Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion - it is a daily process whereby you grow to be more and more like Christ.
"When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost." ---Billy Graham, should read some of his own quotes -- and believe them He needs to practice what he preaches.
s c I assume you have an computer Bible program, and most when you download the King James Version should have the Strong's concordance with it. Oh, and of course you can download the ESV at the same time and get an idea how a word is used as well.
Jim another good resource to recommend to sc and other serious students of the Bible is BlueLetterBible.org. It is quite valuable.

Thanks for your thoughts, Newcomer. Yes, unbelief, and lack of love, etc, is the core issue.
For me personally, the world news today doesn't discourage me in any way because I view it all as God fulfilling His promises, prophesy unfolding before our very eyes, and the end times being ushered in. I never see it all as Satan winning a battle, but rather, God fulfilling His plan to dethrone Him once and for all, no matter how things may appear, and restoring all things to how they were meant to be before sin brought death and misery to the earth and mankind.
Yes, God is thwarting the devices of man.
However, we must always be mindful that God does the calling into His kingdom. Christ is building his church and he knows who belongs to him. Therefore, we should never say we know the motives of a man. Only the individual knows his own motives; and the Lord tries them to see what is there.
All of us are confused at times as to how we are saved; e.g. whether we chose to believe, or God's grace so influenced our will that we could not resist.
As signs, living among the lost in unity and kove, many realize that the Body of Christ is a place they need to be & be healed. It should be a safe haven not a butcher shop.

Let me add though that I do believe guns are a big problem. I just don't believe they should be taken away at the same time. Sounds contradictory maybe, but I wish there was some way to keep the mentally ill, racists, etc, away from them.
I just heard that another mass shooting was avoided in Northern CA where some kid was going to kill as many as he could at a school event. I always tend to wonder how many of these shooters are on psychotropic drugs.
Guns a big problem??

Lack of love for God & neighbor is the problem. People striving to satisfy the lusts of the old sin nature, desiring to have, to be, & to do things contrary to truth. Not fully understanding why we were called out of this world's system of thinking & ungodly influence.

Most Christians don't know WHO they are, WHAT they are, WHY they are, & WHEN to act as though they are not of this world (which is always). We are here to represent the man in heaven; living unto God.

Failing to walk in the Spirit is the problem.
Sitting in Moses' seat kills the human spirit. It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words I speak unto you, they are spirit & they are life.

Even rebuke, if gentle, is spiritual & loving in its force.

For me, even the thought of disarming American citizens at this point would prove futile and dangerous. Many independent studies have been done over the years showing that crimes against ones person and convenience store robberies, etc, went down when the citizens were allowed to carry. For me, arguing over gun control is now a non issue because of the sheer numbers of guns out there now, legal and illegal. I say non issue because if guns were suddenly taken away from law abiding citizens, thugs would be given license to do what they do without hesitation. I just think we're in a position now where taking guns away would do more damage than good. If someone wants to murder, they'll murder, even without a gun. They can swing a machete around, drive their vehicle through a crowd, use pipe bombs, blow a building, or whatever. Guns make it easier, but they'll get the job done, one way or another if they have it in their head.
The tongue is the most deadly weapon ever. This is why we are told to edify and not repeat matters of evil.
What we read in the news today weakens our faith, causes us to feel we are in a losing battle, and takes our eyes off the power of pure, unfeigned love for all men; no dissimilation.

Some theologians have a most remarkable way with words.
"The Holy Spirit is fully acquainted with the present and everlasting virtue and efficacy of the Person and work of Immanuel, and what His heart was set upon when He made His soul an offering for sin, and how infinitely and eternally well pleased was Jehovah the Father with it, who has it in perpetual remembrance. The Father and the Son having committed the revelation and application of this great salvation unto the persons of all the elect to the Holy Spirit, He is pleased therefore, out of the riches of His own free and sovereign grace, to work in due season in all the heirs of glory. And as Christ died but once — His death being all-sufficient to answer every design to be effected by it — so the Holy Spirit by one act works effectually in the soul, producing a spiritual birth and changing the state of its partaker once and for all, so that the regenerated are brought out of and delivered from the power of death and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. Without this spiritual birth we cannot see spiritual objects and heavenly blessings in their true worth and excellence."
"perpetual remembrance"
Wonderful!
Thank you for reminding us of the only Savior God.

Does this mean that soon doctors will not be able to inform patients of the dangers of smoking, drinking, too much salt, saturated fat intake, etc.

Who will need doctors if good health means nothing anymore?

Hatred has cause more physical, mental, psychological, social, economic, and emotions problems than any thing in the world. It began in Genesis. My blood pressure rises and my heart palpitates rapidly and intensely when I'm in the presence of a threat; real or unreal. AND pills won't cure it!

As for the term 'race', if you're not careful you can start adopting the lost world's view of the Darwinian origin of man whereas the Bible says all of us are of one race of humans descended from Adam.
Do you realize how many people say, "Well everybody's doing it, so ...?"
"The tongue is an evil unruly member ..."
If racism characterizes anyone professing to be "Christian," he is a liar and the truth is not in him. He does the deeds of his father; the devil. Make no mistake about it! He does not and cannot love God because the power of sin reigns in his mortal body. He does not have the mind of Christ. The outward appearance is deceiving.
