B. McCausland, I don't really think it is wishful thinking. For example, who started the Methodist's? John Wesley. Who started the Presbyterians? John Knox. (I can't remember who started the Congregationalists at the moment) Those were definitely started by men, even though at the beginning they preached good doctrine, they STILL wouldn't separate from Rome on the infant baptism issue. Let's just say this; throughout all ages since Jesus was here on earth, there has ALWAYS been Christians baptizing new believers by immersion. Just like John the Baptist (interestingly named) baptized Jesus in the Jordan River. I hope that answers your question McCausland. |

@Connor7, There is no such thing as a "Baptist" denomination. Sure, there are many stripes of Baptist's, such as: Seven Day Baptist, Separate Baptist, Regular Baptist, Particular Baptist, Historic Baptist, Independent Baptist, and Independent Fundamental Baptist, but all these groups don't have denominational headquarters, a denominational head, ect. (As Dr Tim pointed out)Seems simple to me. *Interesting Fact: Baptist's began at the Jordan River, and ever since then have existed in one way or another throughout the ages. If course they have been called different names from age to age, but doctrines and practices have stayed the same. |

John Lee, have you ever read the book of Proverbs before? A verse or two from that book should show you your error. Proverbs 13:24 (KJV) He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 22:15 (KJV) Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Proverbs 23:13 (KJV) Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Proverbs 29:15 (KJV) The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. Ok. That should clear that one up. Know, how about a few verses on obedience to spark some distant memories. Ephesians 6:1-3 (KJV) Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. Colossians 3:20 (KJV) Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Weird...but the Bible in no where admonishes children to argue with their parents; but to obey. Sound communistic to me lol!! 😂😃😄 |
