My Sabbath rest is Christ Himself, the Author and Lord of the Sabbath.
I'm so glad over a year ago I came across some works that innoculated me against this making the "10 commandments" the "rule of [my] life".
Christ is All. If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Going to the law leads to dispair. Going to Christ leads to life, joy, love, peace,...
"Christ is All: No Sanctification by the Law"
penned wrote: we are required to sabbath. our sabbath rest is our freedom from works for our salvation. this salvation is today. those not resting are working for their salvation. so yes that commandment is binding.... we must rest in His work.
Acts 15: No mention of "Tell them to keep the 10 commandments"
Romans 6: No mention of "Keep the 10 commandments"
Romans 7: "died to the law..." "released from the law" "service in new way of Spirit and not in old way of written code"
Peter at Pentecost: Did not do a Ray Comfort (preach the 10 commandments)
Paul at Areopagus to Gentiles: Did not do a Ray Comfort
How does Paul motivate?
"Be holy for He is holy" "You were bought with a price" "love of Christ constrains us" "consider yourself dead to sin" etc, etc.
Are some of the 10 commandments mentioned in the epistles? Yes. But what for. What is the context? Is Paul's goal for you to live by some written code or rules or to walk by the Spirit? Why do the epistles always start with who you are in Christ, then follow up with what you should do in light of that?
Don't make the faulty assumption that "law" refers to the 10.
Instead of listening to well-meaning Christians, Fathers, Confessions that put themselves under OT law, just read the Scripture and figure out for yourself. If you hold to it fine, but don't enslave others (Rom 14:22, Col 2).
And "The Sabbath" is "The Seventh Day", not "one day in seven"
Halloween is what you make it....like movies, music, sports, job. You judge those that participate even if they wear innocent costumes or collect candy, neither of which is sinful. And what movies and what type of music or sports do you watch or listen to. Easy to judge. Romans 14.
For he (Jesus) himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. - Ephesians 2:14-16
Some go so far as to celebrate the passover. Some of this seems led by dispensational groups who heavily focus (imo too much) on israel. It is one thing to acknowledge the significance of these Jewish holidays, it is quite another to participate in them as if they had some present significance.
"Rome's version of Mary? The Catholic Church believes in the biblical and historical Virgin Mary and always has. The only Virgin Mary I have always believed in has been the biblical and historical Virgin Mary."
Immaculate Conception ( Catholic doctrine) is not biblical.
Evil? Really. Check your own thoughts. No saved person has perfectly pure thoughts. Care if we play a dvd showing the thoughts that run across your mind on a daily basis?
A person that struggled with lust or alcohol their whole life is never going to struggle with temptation when they are saved? The same goes for them.
There is a difference between attraction and carrying out behavior because of that attraction. There is a battle until we are glorified.
John Mackay wrote: This is evil.Article 8 states that a saved person can experience attraction for the same sex.Not according to Romans 1 they cannot. The Authorized version states that they are given over to a reprobate mind.It is a progression in sin and God has rejected them ie they are reprobate. Thats what reprobate means-forsaken by God.
Those who profess such nonsense want to continue to breed division and race/class warfare. It is racism in disguise for the Asians and Indians that work hard and do well in STEM jobs or music owe nothing to so-called white privelege. Complainers basically deny the sovereignty of God and think Man is in control. Do your best and commit the rest.
