AVA...you are a broken record. We know where you stand on this...but you are wrong, like a whole lot more. He was there; the priest was there;the priest prayed (twice) and he spoke from the Bible: Ecumenical by any other name - end of story. Politics and Religion: bad mix. Keep drinking the Koolaid.....

Anti-Vaticanist: The "trap" was of his own making. Methinks the man doth protest too much! Funny how his own D.U.P. Mayor in Ballymena (and other DUPER councillors) knew about the arrangements, AND STAYED AWAY FROM IT. If it was "not ecumenical" then why bother to defend your attendance? Sure if you are only there as a civic representative what's the problem? You can't have it both ways. It was right or wrong? That's right....it was wrong!

John......you do not understand satire obviously...Lance was being just a tad facetious I would say. But Big Ian might make a good Chinese leader right enough! Because of his antics his small country will likely soon be part of a "Republic".

The operative phrase is: "...the man who is prepared to sell himself..."
Folks always told me that people who do "The Lord's will" are happy - I never did hear that it makes a person sick to do the right thing! "Sleepless nights" to my way of thinking is usually something connected with a bad conscience..........hmmmmm...

How many Pastors/Office-bearers of churches watch inappropriate movies/sitcoms etc., on T.V. as well? There needs to be a re-evaluation of ALL viewing/reading habits by Christian people and their leaders. How about asking those men if they always look away when a scantily-clad girl passes by? There may be a fair bit of sanctimonious smugness ( even among those who pose the questions to prospective missionaries)just because they are not involved in that internet sin. But are they guilty of other secret sins? Two wrongs do not make a right, of course. As a general point, there must be a practical turning away from evils of every kind, and churches should be providing Biblical help and counsel to those who want to get a victory over their besetting sins.

The victims' families must be so proud to see that their loved ones did not die in vain - they shed their blood to put such nice people into government over their country. And those who followed "the Carson Trail" behind "The grand old Duke of York" must feel a great sense of satisfaction at the fruits of their efforts. How glad they must be that they stuck by one Unionist leader who would never, never, never compromise or betray their interests! Kudos to all!

After the success of "the Negotiator" Paisley returned to star in "The Verdict". The electorate had a huge role in this epic, their biggest since repeated appearances in the "Back to The Future" trilogy. The star of "The Preacher's Wife" played her part well also. The next big break for Ian was "Executive Decision" (made on a single Saturday),which led on to his Oscar-winning performance at Stormont with Gerry (of "Addams family Values" fame). Paisley's co-star could hardly believe his luck at landing the role on Monday - his biggest since "Lethal Weapon" and "Hour of the Gun". Some of the stars of "A Few Good Men" (Allister and Gillespie to name two)felt Adams would be better cast in "The Unforgiven" or "The Mirror has Two Faces" (IRA/Sinn Fein)but Ulstermen had given their opinion, presumably after seeing Gordon Brown (of "Jaws" fame)in the new block-buster "Money Talks", in which water charges were cancelled and zillions of pounds promised for the new stage at Stormont. The big man seemed uncomfortable on the set with Adams. He could not help thinking about Adams' previous roles in "Man behind the gun" and "Liar Liar". However, he settled into the role when he recalled Brown's offer to shoot "A Fistful of Dollars" in Ulster. This might be followed by "A Few Dollars More."

I'm reminded of some classic movies starring Ian Paisley and other political figures. Paisley is perhaps best known for his lead role in "Doc", "Dr No", "The Patriot", and True Grit". Later he starred in "Absolute Power" (where he played the despotic leader of a Protestant church), and "It's my party" (a documentary on his role as DUP leader). In 2005 he was leading man in "The Negotiator" set in Scotland. His co-stars included actors from "Natural Born Killers","The Violent Men",and "Murder by Numbers"(Sinn Fein),"The opportunists"(DUP politicians, some of whom had also starred in "The cowboys"),"Little big man" (Reg Empey),and "Muppets from Space" (Alliance party). Other movie roles followed.....to be continued..
