So True! So true. This is something we all need to be mindful of, not only in our interactions with others but also in our thoughts about them. Thank you for your faithfulness to teach truth, Pastor Cooley; I needed this reminder. One way I learned to immediately change the course of gossip or slander is to say to the gossiper "It sounds like he/she needs some encouragement, why don't you lead us in prayer for him/her?" I've not yet encountered anyone who could continue their sowing of discord following that, whether because their heart got broken by the Lord or because they realized they no longer had a listener
Noble Bereans "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Acts 17:11
As the Bereans faithfully examined the scriptures to ensure that the apostle Paul's message was based on truth, so must we search the scriptures as Christians today to prove that what is being taught is correct. As for God's omniscience, the attribute of being all knowing, every good Berean can start with just this handful of many scriptures declaring this to be so: Mat 11:27, John 10:15, 1 Cor 2:10-11, Isaiah 40:13-14, Job 21:22, Rom.11:33-34, 1 Cor. 2:16, Mat.10:30, Luke 12:7, Psalm 147:4, Isaiah 40:26, Deut.29:29, Job 37:15-16, Dan. 2:22, Mat. 24:36, Mark 13:32, Acts 1:7, 2 Cor. 12:2-4, Job 34:21, Job 24:23, Job 31:4, Psalm 33:13-15, Psalm 139:2-3, Jer. 23:24, Mat. 6:8, Luke 12:29-30, 1 Chron. 28:9, Psalm 44:20-21, Psalm 139:1-2, and 1 Peter 1:2.
Very Encouraging Sermon! This sermon has blessed me, indeed. Thank you, Pastor Wartner, for your faithfulness in preaching the truth of God's word for the edification and equipping of the saints and to warn the unsaved. No fables here! I look forward to hearing part 2 when you take a closer look at the beautiful stories in the Old Testament, gleaning the treasures within them.
Wonderful Word from God! Pastor Mike, thank you for sensitively and biblically defining the roles of Christian women as commanded by the Lord Himself in His word. It may well be an unpopular message for many, but in God's economy it's a critical one. Thank you for loving your sisters in Christ enough to share the truth -- I personally was challenged and yet encouraged through the entire teaching.
