Scott, Public does mean public, but are you willing to have all of your public records displayed openly for others? As the old saying goes,"Fool's names and fool's faces..." Sometimes people do things that become public record, but don't look very good when displayed for all to see. (Example: The DUI you got as a young adult is public record, but when it stops you from getting a job now that you are in your 50's, just because someone happens upon it instead of having to search the records, it isn't much fun.) Let the records be kept, but not displayed, publicly. |

solutions wrote: "This is not an emotional response it is pure pragmatism since I live in a Country with NO gun shops. Thus we don't have a regular annual massacre." Do you live in a country that does not have crime as well? Japan took away the gun shops and crimes committed with edged weaponry actually exceeded that previously committed with firearms. Great solution (no pun intended) there. Switzerland, where you can carry your firearm onto public transportation and just about anywhere (Oh, yes! And they do have gun shops.) has had one of the lowest crime rates of any country for many years. Emotional or not, it doesn't add up. Suicide bombers rarely use guns and you can get the equipment to make a vest legally and easily. Bottom line is there is no way to completely eliminate human stupidity, especially when it comes to their treatment of fellow humans, so don't take away our ability to defend ourselves and others in the name of creating a more peaceful society. As was stated at the beginning of this mess: Prayer is called for. Much prayer is called for. Only God can change this. Don't believe me? Ask Cain. He didn't have a gun, nor did he need one to do what he did. |

I will address these one by one:Barry from Ky - Our forefathers did not envision a lot of things. As to why in the world anyone would "need" a 100 round magazine, I hope I never find out. Josh Stone - Very well said and I agree. Mike - You may want to check your law book as it might be out of date or specific to New York. 100 round magazines (clip is incorrect terminology) are very legal and are sold daily through a variety of sources (cheaperthandirt.com, etc.) jpw - We agree on this one. (Except the TSA. I don't think the TRANSPORT Safety Administration would have much to do with this. Perhaps you meant BATFE.) Rufus - Bravo! I could not have said it better. solutions - 12 people died because of a single man with a twisted mind, not because America wants anything of the sort. 12 families are mourning because of the death of a loved one, not the ease or difficulty of gun purchases. So, take away all the guns? Great idea. Remove the gun shops so criminals will be the only people to obtain guns. Just because Mr. Holmes obtained them legally does not mean he wouldn't have obtained them by other means if he already had a plan to do this. BTW, 99% of the population who do carry a gun do it to protect themselves and others, not to kill someone |
