Great Sermon! Like Pastor Sean said: Those days are over. I worked with Jewish people and Holocaust survivors, there was a story of 2 young kids who entered the prison camp pretty late in the persecution. And they were treated badly by senior prisoners, because while these newbies (to prison) were going out to see movies, and dancing, the senior prisoners were living out an earthly hell, and they were angry.
Training vs Casual meetings Any fellowship is totally dependent on the generosity and sacrificial living of individuals, where people live their lives completely given over to serve God. But the reality is that this is a very rare thing, indeed it is a marvelous blessing from Jesus if you experience it, and a terrible tragedy if let go to waste.  But for the most part house churches involve a lot of students and young people who choose not to budget their income for the fellowship, and are still growing in maturity, plus the casual nature of meeting with someone in a house, doesn't help that at all.
Personally I think we need more bible school type Friday, Saturday all day getaways of dedicated bible teaching. This takes dedication and sacrifice on the student, and really exposes those who are interested and those who are committed.
All of this Feels like a reality tv show. All they need is to record the 12 weeks and see how much love was shown. I hope he is welcomed by the congregation. I sometimes attend an American church and sit alone until the end of the service, until everyone bolts out of there. But with his celebrity status, this catholic man surely can change an un-approachable pastor into an approachable one.
Reply: I visit their site re-thinking hell, and they did compile a nice list of verses that hell preachers use, i just think their interpretation is wrong.
While much can be said, I wanna post 2 verses:
And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name." (Revelation 14:11 ESV)
and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:10, 14, 15 ESV)
If words have any meaning, then it seems the devil will be tormented forever and ever in the lake of fire, so the lake is really a tormenting place. And it is also a place of torment for anyone who is not written in the book of life.
The is a book called the gagging of God by D.A Carson, the last chapter has about 20 pages of rebuttal on this topic.
This is a serious false teaching This teaching will influence so many people, and bring about many other doctrines that would lead to so many new cults. I can see many people embracing purgotory because of this. But more importantly it is unbiblical and not true.
Too many churches With so many churches in America, I don't even know the exact number, but it has to be a lot, americans still love their churches, but with preaching every Sunday, you would think that would change so many things about America . So I think the problem is not universities, government, the dictators, it's the churches. A genuine congregation would turn it's neighborhood upside down, Ian Paisley once said, the modern american Church is a giant bedroom, and Christians are sleeping. And these zombies are spreading all over the world, pretending to be missionaries.
Great Sermon! I always thought apostolic succession is the world's largest telephone game, Catholics trying preserve something that was whispered to their ears from thousands of years ago, obviously the message would get lost when it gets passed down like that. Plus there were a lot of political involvement, where the rulers and kings would decide who would be best suited to be a pope or control the church. Eusebius of Nicomedia, an early bishop, who was an Arian sympathizer, helped the early Eastern church accept the false doctrines of Arianism for a short while, something the RCC does not want to remember!
