In my experience over several decades, if you go all out for God, which involves danger or possible fines or imprisonment, or beatings, the majority of churches will separate themselves from you and leave you to yourself.

The reason for this is firstly backsliding, and going into mere form, a show if you like, of being Christian but not really. And then in time followed by apostasy, slowly creeping up until it engulfs the unwary, and they become yet another which has "fallen away", never to return to genuine Christianity.

I'm talking about the UK here. What is it like in the USA?

He should have kept his disobedient mouth shut and did what the will of the Lord is, to "SUBMIT to EVERY ordinance of man" and removed his shirt and hat as that is the ordinance commanded unto him from those given power by God over him.
