Lest I be misunderstood, I thought Calvin said it rather clearly, when he wrote L=limited atonement. I certainly believe that the blood of Christ is more than sufficient to save every single soul on this planet, from Adam and Eve's time right down to the very last person that will be born on this earth. Perhaps the words "limited atonemment" are not the best choice of words that could have been used, however I do not believe that Christ died for everyone or the sins of everyone. If this was the case, no one would go to hell and I believe we would see quite a difference of peoples behavior. Humanly speaking, we do not want to see anyone go lost! This is not the case however. The Bible clearly states that the Lord died for the elect. I don't understand this and, humanly speaking, it doesn't sound fair. However, we cannot change what God has clearly written. Much more could be said on this of course.

Thanks, Ernie, for sharing this info. I listened to the first part of a sermon by Dr. Waite and was disapponted in what he said about "limited atonement". He does not believe in limited atonement, but believes that Christ died for all. After hearing this great Biblical error, can I trust everything else he says? Any feedback?

Hey brothers, I was brought up with the KJV. I use both the KJV and the NKJV. We use only the KJV in our church. I need a new Bible and I'm between a rock and a hard place. I find the NKJV is easier to read and alot of the terminology is up-to-date. All being said, I still feel more confortable using the KJV. I'm still a "Thee and Thou" person as well, although most of our younger people use "You and Your" in their prayers, etc. At our men's home Bible study group, most of the guys use "You and Your" when praying to God? What type of Bible should I get, brothers??? ty

They should vote on what color carpet to put in the building, not on whether or not they should obey the written word of God.

The only reason they see fit to vote on such things is because their final authority is not the holy scriptures.

Their final authority is the opinion of confused people.

"predestination: the belief that before time's dawn, God decided whom he would save (or not)"

This is false doctrine. The holy scriptures clearly teach that it is God's will for all men to be eternally saved. When a sinner dies and goes to hell it is against God's will. God wanted that sinner to repent but the sinner refused.

Calvinism is not Calvinism, it is Jerome-ism; Jerome-ism is not Jerome-ism, it is Fatalism.

1 Timothy 2
1. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Some people read this verse as saying "...for the sins of the whole world [of the elect.]"

Let's see if that interpretation holds true:

1 John 2
15. Love not the world [of the elect], neither the things that are in the world [of the elect]. If any man love the world [of the elect], the love of the Father is not in him.
16. For all that is in the world [of the elect], the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world [of the elect].
17. And the world [of the elect] passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

It does not make sense to read it that way; So, why change it in verse 2? If it does not line up with your theology then change your theology, don't change the Bible.

David Wilkerson is a false teacher who is attacking the sufficiency of scripture. God did not tell him those things. God is not giving any new words to anyone today outside of holy scripture. The Bible is complete and sufficient.

Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

Jim, Do you really think Mike Vlach and William W.Combs are actually helping people by telling them their Bible has many errors and defects and that it really does not matter because it is good enough?

I'm not buying what they're selling. Their writings sound a lot like the serpent in the garden convincing Eve that she couldn't trust what God had said. These men are deceived on this particular issue. They are attacking the word of God.

I'm thankful I can trust every verse in the KJV, including 1 John 5:7 and Mark 16:9-20.

Jim, I enjoy reading your posts, you have good understanding of many spiritual issues. But the article you posted a link to (How We Got Our Bible) is evil doctrine. The author tries to cast doubt upon the preservation of God's exact words. I'm glad I have an infallible Bible in my hand (KJV). Don't be fooled by the textual critics. None of them believe we have a 100% accurate infallible version in English or any other language for that matter. I choose to simply believe what God says about His word.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

Dr. Wallace said, "...the more manuscripts we analyze, the closer we will be to the original wording of the New Testament."

Dr. Wallace is confused and devils are using his work to overthrow the faith of some. The original wording of the New Testament has never been lost. Simple faith in what God has promised concerning His preservation of His exact words forever settles the issue for those who believe.

Instead of looking for more manuscripts to change the words of God just stick to the KJV and its underlying texts. This Laodicean age with its apostate scholarship is not the time to be messing around with the wording of the Holy Bible.

Psalms 119:89 For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

It is a common thing in this life for the world to love his own. Praises are heaped upon many people who do not believe the Holy Bible, especially when their unbelief can be used to tighten the grip of darkness on those who do not love the truth.

Jim Lincoln wrote: "Even though these two verses are only in Mark, they do apply -- to the Apostles, Paul demonstrated many of these abilities, and he was the last person to be an Apostle."

AMEN! That is exactly right!

Intelligent Design is just as corrupt as the teachings of human evolution. It is impossible to properly teach the truth of creation apart from the name of the Intelligent Designer--the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is sad when any person dies. Whether D. James Kennedy was born again or not is not for us to say. I pray his family is born again and drawing near to our Lord Jesus Christ in their time of grieving.

There are some things we need to be aware of, though, concerning Kennedy's ministry. He had a long and open history of ecumenism. There was even a "gospel" message on his website by Pope Benedict. If you think I'm mean spirited for saying it you need revival.

Speaking of God's Son the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit says in Hebrews 1:3, "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high"

Catholics, let these words sink into your heart. Jesus Christ BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS. Amen!
