jpw wrote: reformers left the RCC and then tried to reestablish a societal/government church instead of an elect church separate from state One of the problems I see in your "concern" is the concept of separation from what you call "the state" If you mean polititians running the church then I agree. They can't. But today the concept of separating church from state has alienated the church from Christian and Biblical input into the society and community. Witness to the nation as a whole simply doesn't get off the ground. For this reason the western nations today have no idea whatsoever why the "church" - whatever that means to them - discriminates against homosexuality. What the Bible says, ergo what God says on this subject and many other topics doesn't go public. If separation means that the church becomes an exclusive club, as indeed it has today, then the church is limiting and failing witness in the nation. There are necessary vocal Biblical witness precepts which should reach the nation, but because some of the denominations form this exclusive little club - and appear to be scared of going more public - then God's precepts are not being proclaimed to the broadest range possible, and the secular Liberal reprobates are defeating the church .. |

Michael Hranek wrote: to equate love for Christ ... some kind of liberalism Michael Beware of this Liberalism pollution which permeates many churches today. Whereas it "sounds" acceptable, admirable and agreeable, in reality it is fawning and sychophantic in that it "preaches" only the "nice" bits.Remember the hard teachings of God... Heb 12:5 despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye b**tards, and not sons. 10 chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous" What we are really like... Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. 19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. 20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me" |

Jim Lincoln wrote: Calvin used reasoning in coming to limited atonement, but that is not what is in the Bible, The Atonement in the Gospel is unlimited Jim. Sadly your one petal short of Biblical T.U.L.I.P. That means your doctrine is short! --------
John UK wrote: The Reformers made several big errors in judgment God ordained and guided the Reformation by His Holy Spirit. The Five Solas, Doctrines of Grace, and excellent Reformed Standards have taught Bible doctrine unquestionably. It's a pity you have such an antipathy for Calvinism which comes out in acrimony in your posts. I have often wondered why? |
