Great Sermon! A great discussion, love listening to what Edward Hendrie has to say, as usual right on the mark...As far as James White I couldn't agree more had reservations about him awhile ago and don't listen to him anymore.
Someone may have already made this point but I am reminded of not basing my faith on my feelings or " emotional highs". The just shall live by faith and not by sight. So many concerts and performances are drenched with making us "feel spiritual". Brad Pitt was confused when he went to a Rock Concert and felt the same emotional high. He is right, Im sure he did. Christianity is not about feelings, but truth. Truth can produce some pretty incredible feelings, however emotional highs from Christian concerts are nothing but empty broken cisterns.
But don't you think snake handlers are tempting The Lord. Paul was not intentionally handling snakes when he got snake bit. He was in the will of God and on mission for The Lord. The Lord intervened and healed him. I don't think this verse is for just anyone. Now, I live in the country and we encounter snakes a lot where we are. Poisonous snakes. Today if I were to get bit by a snake, I would quote that verse and put my trust in The Lord and seek medical intervention quick. If I died, then my appointed days were up and this was the Lord's will. Even those who were healed by Christ eventually died, maybe even from snake bites. Did they have no faith? Of course not.
The story of the 6 year old girl was so sad that someone wrote about. I have 9 children and my heart grieves to hear such stories. When I hear things like this that make no sense at all I like to quote the verse " Won't the judge of all the earth do right?" This is from Genesis 25 I think. We must never give into the temptation to defame the character of God because of the evil and debased character of man and their actions.
"O the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God. How un searchable are his judgements and his ways past finding out."
Great Sermon! Ooh this series is awesome so far!!
I also have a story to tell. We're going over cults in class and someone asked what a Moonie was and I was able to give an awesome response to that question.
Another thing, I got so mad in class today because (again about cults) we were watching a video from Ted Talks by a Sceptik.com guy. I was like please don't bring God into this, and he brought in God and this guy was insulting creationism, and I was angry and facepalming. All he said was that basically, "Creationists have no logic besides it was a miracle.
Great Sermon! In my high school psychology class we studied something that involved meditation one week, and I remember the teacher tried to make us meditate one morning. I sat there and prayed instead.
Great Sermon! This is an awesome podcast!!! I love all the scientific stuff.
It's like I asked my chemistry teacher, "How did the Big Bang Theory supposedly happen if they can't make it happen in labs." Kind of unrelated but related
Great Sermon! I am very thankful for this pastor and his reverence to our Lord. This sermon was very needful to me and an answer to prayer just this evening as I was crying out to God for help. Thank you Mr. Pollard
Great Sermon! Hey, I just got an email about your message on Myworldview and myworldview can be stupid on my phone.
The ultrasound didn't shoe anything, so they're probably going to have to do more tests. Thanks for your prayers. :) I promise I'll let you know when I find something out.
Great Sermon! That worm story is awesome!!!
I love science. (Real science not evolution science.)
I've seen pictures of the trees going through layers.
Oh and I watched part of the debate last night and Bill Nye showed the Grand Canyon. Were the foot prints that he showed those of the "walking fish" footprints?
