“ Great Sermon! ”
Thank you for your sermon! It was helpful, especially in evaluating a movie ("The Greatest Showman") about P.T. Barnum. Barnum has been lauded for having family-friendly entertainment, and "The Greatest Showman" has been highly recommended by some Christians. Being anxious to find out more about this movie, I watched a trailer and was surprised to see women immodestly dressed and sensual dancing. Your sermon confirmed my conviction that this kind of entertainment has no place in a Christian's life. As a Christian, I want entertainment that will help me focus on the Lord and worship Him in the beauty of holiness (Psalm 29:2). But this is not possible if I'm looking at women in clothing which exposes or draws attention to parts of the body that are sexually stimulating, especially when there is sensual dancing. But that's just one problem I have with the movie. Your sermon along with Robert W. Reed's sermon "Entertainment" helped me to see other problems and be more discerning in my choices for entertainment.

“ Great Sermon! ”
A few days ago, I listened to Christian rap for the first time and was appalled at how worldly and sensual it sounded. It did not put me in the mood to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, but made me feel more like dancing in a sensual way. I wanted to hear what a conservative pastor had to say about it; so I came to SermonAudio and found this sermon. It is excellent and has confirmed my conviction that this music is not of God because it puts desires in the heart that are contrary to His Word. Some might argue that Christian rap has helped people spiritually and therefore it must be okay. However, the end doesn't justify the means. God can bring good out of evil, but that doesn't sanction the evil. For the few helped, there will likely be many more who are hurt by this music as it influences them to pursue sensual pleasures.

Paul Washer makes some good points. He acknowledges that secular rap is sinful, but argues that a sinful art form can be transformed and used for that which is good. I would agree as long as it doesn't stir up sensual desires, because when people become born again, they have become new creatures with a desire for holiness. Therefore, they will want music that stirs up that desire rather than desires that are contrary to God's Word. When I listened to Christian rap, it did not put me in the mood to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, but made me feel more like dancing in a sensual way. (For a sermon which points out this danger and other dangers of Christian rap, I would recommend "Weighing Rap & Hip-Hop" by Chris Hand.) Though I'm not in agreement with Paul Washer on Christian rap, I'm in complete agreement with him on what it means to be saved. When people become saved, they will not continue to live in sin, but will seek to live a holy life. This is the evidence of true conversion.

Sermon:
Implications of the Empty Tomb
Rev. Roger Higginson

comment
“ Repentance! ”
Pastor Higginson is a faithful preacher of God's word in a day where it is not popular to be so. This sermon rightly focuses on the critical nature of repentance to come to a saving relationship with our Lord. As Pastor Higginson states, it is not enough just to come to some mental ascent of accepting the gospel...repentance will bear out whehter the heart, too, has accepted God's grace and not just the head. Pastor Higginson references Leonard Ravenhill - a mighty man of God who passed away in November 1994 - who so aptly stated that what this world needs is NOT more proper doctrine, but rather a demonstration. Thank you for preaching the truth pastor on a day where so many pastors here in America - mine included - watered down the gospel in pathethic attempts to get "committment cards" filled out. May God continue to bless you, your family and His Church.

BWS, take it a little easier: This is one of 96 messages on Revelations. However, what you say about the Church and apostacy is right on, and I believe it to be what is being preached as "revival" that is actually the great apostacy.

Wonderful truth! Realising more & more all we have is only based on His immeasurable lovingkindess 'Ki la-Olam Chasdo'No works no merit. Had to listen to a sermon on His 'Chesed' loving-kindness. Thank you, was in great need of someone labouring/expounding this truth. Blessed.

I got a lot out of the discussion about Song of Solomon. Overall, this is good treatment of sex talk and vulgar language in the pulpit. We should stop striving to be so culturally relevant and focus on the timeless truth of the gospel.
