I was praying & I had the strange sense God wasn't listening to me. I stubbornly kept praying & as I prayed God convicted me about Lectio Divina. I've repented & I want to ask forgiveness for not listening to my elder brothers & sisters. I am so sorry.

If it will make you guys feel better I'll just say praying from the Scriptures considering Lectio Divina has too many catholic/emergent mystical implications.
I'm very busy Penny, that's the reason I don't sleep like I should. Thanks anyway.

And guys I re-read my post several times and then I realized what made you guys so upset, it sounded like I was accusing everyone of not spending time with Christ. If that is how you understood it, I beg your forgiveness! That wasn't the intention, I was making a suggestion, but then again you guys probably spend hours alone with Christ. I'm extremely sorry.

I know I promised to try hard to shut up Shane, but please let me defend myself. Lectio Divina is a latin word meaning "sacred reading", it's not a word originating with RC. Lectio Divina is NOT contemplative prayer, contemplative prayer hinges on you repeating your chosen prayer in sync with your breath for roughly 15-20 minutes. Lectio Divina has no set time period. & let me be honest, I don't pray very well, & so I'll read the Psalms or even some of Paul's epistles and I'll take that phrase & pray it to God. I have trouble seeing how this is mysticm. (Although I'm on a board with peers so I'm open minded)

Steve: Appreciate the support bro, but my Dad believes it's impossible to know you're saved, so I didn't ask him. I only mentioned it becausevI got upset at some people claiming that catholics couldn't be saved. I had no desire nor intention to set off an argument.

To be honest Shane ever since I was a kid I always had an insatianable desire to read, if I could get my hands on it I read it. Thing is my Mom & Dad thought I needed to read theology, & I did, although admittedly it's a bit of a curse. That's why I read theology freakishly.
As for the weird hours I post, I don't have a "normal" schedule. I just go to bed whenever, wether it's 8 P.M, 12 A.M. or even 5 P.M. But then again...... am I really posting that bad Shane? If so I'll try hard to shut up.

I fully admit Shane instead of ranting against Joel Osteen, I tried a different writing style, because seemed like it would be just another argument.

I KNEW that would be a really bad idea to say that....... look let me ask a question of my own, what's possibly wrong with praying to God using Scripture,

Take the log out of your eye brother XC before you judge my statement (technically it was a suggestion) the log being, you didn't bother to ask me what I meant by Lectio Divina. I am speaking of the protestant form of Lectio Divina not the catholic/bendectine monk form of Lectio Divina. The protestant form of Lectio Divina is simply where you pray to God using Scripture.

I didn't mean to ignite a firestorm of argument, this is just a very personal issue.

Life's tough isn't it? You dread opening the mailbox, just knowing a big fat bill is going to be waiting on you. And then there's the day when you've fought with your girlfriend (or wife) and then you have to go to work or school with a boss or teacher, whom you refer to as a dictator, seems to find fault with EVERYTHING you do. You get the picture. After all you've probably lived it. On those days you feel miserable, you question your walk with the Saviour, the devil aimed a dart at you & you never saw it coming. Want to know the cure? His Name is Jesus. We talk about Him, extol Him, but do we spend time with Him? I'm not talking devotional time, I'm talking intimacy time. Do we set aside 15-30 minutes of the day were you sit in a room with a Bible, accompanied by no one except for Jesus? A time in the day were you let out all your frustrations & wounds & let the Great Physician heal you? Brethren this 2014 let's spend more time with Christ. Read the gospels, re-read a favorite psalm, practice Lectio Divina, confess your sins, ask for strength for the journey.

I'm sorry Penny, I don't see how that would apply to charismatic gifts.
