1 Timothy 2:1-4 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.Romans 10:1-4 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. I have been corrected by a brother and apologize for my ignorance. Thank you for all of your input. I am growing and even though I try to hit the bull's eye, I miss so very often. |

John UK wrote: I take it when you say "pray for sinners" you refer to "pray for sinners to be saved"? If not, 1 Tim 2:1. Thankfully, there is no need for us to pray for fellow sinners to be saved, because the Great Intercessor is already doing that, and far more effectively than we converted sinners ever could. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25 KJV Completely agree...and yes, praying for one's salvation is not Biblical. |
