Though the world may apply first half of this verse to the pope, Jesus was addressing His disciples who are children of God. The pope, on the other hand (the left hand as in Mat 25:33), falls into the category of a child of hell (as in Mat 23:15).

Why would either side pay any attention to this devil? Besides, they ARE having dialog. Hamas spoke with their missiles – now Israel is speaking back.

WRT “have things in common”, I think ;-) that wolves and sheep should dialog. After all, they have some things in common: eyes, teeth, four legs, APPETITES, etc. I bet RW would agree.

I’m looking forward to the Sunday following X-mass. It will be good to be able to go back to Bible classes and worship services that are untainted with the unholy practices of this season. Hopefully, they will have dismantled the X-mass tree in the foyer and removed the greenery from the “sanctuary”.

How is it that Independent Baptists have adopted these Roman Catholic rituals when they pride themselves in not ever having been a part of the RCC. Was it to try to “fit in” with the world?

It’s really sad that a believer has to excuse himself from the fellowship during this time of year. I wonder if God does, too, as He must hate the Christianized paganism as much or more than I.

It's amazing how some people are so consumed by their hatred for the Catholic Church, that no matter what the subject of the news item, they manage to find in it an excuse to attack Catholicism.
The risk with such obsessive hatred is that, when you come to the end of this life, the hatred may continue into the next.
Psa 119:104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

The RC"C" is a false way therefore I hate it ... with a passion. This Godly hatred WILL continue into the next life and will be shared by Christ Himself.

But I have no hatred for you, Lance. You may yet be an unquickened saint ... as Paul the apostle was at one time.

Repent.

DJC49,

In ref to your 11/23/08 12:47 PM post:

I wouldn’t have troubled myself to even respond to GG’s remark. It’s like letting the blind man express his opinion about color variations all he wants. But I sure did like your comment. Your third point and final BTW both expressed exactly what I was thinking as I opened this article.

Cheap PR has to be the motivation for that whore “church” publishing this garbage.

The important distinction you make between Christianity and Roman Catholicism needs to be repeated often on this site because there are some who haven’t yet seen this although they do have the ability to see it if it’s pointed out to them. And I say this even though some here are (and will probably remain) blind to it insisting that it ain’t so just because they can’t see it.

They’re hijackers, Wise.

They’ve hijacked a perfectly good word, gay, and have misapplied it to their wicked “lifestyle”.

They’ve hijacked an ism – racism – and have misapplied that whole concept to their wicked “lifestyle”.

But what they practice is just that – a practice - a behavior. It’s something that can be changed or suppressed in a person by society for its self preservation.

The sin of murder is a behavior that society insists be changed or suppressed in a person.

Our society needs to wake up and return to the former days when murderers and sodomites were dealt with in the same way because their actions were rightly seen as equally sinful and destructive to our society.

Thank you for your post and for the imprecatory prayer at the end. Very appropriate.

Sermon:
The Best Is Yet To Be!
Ted Groves

comment
“ Great Sermon! ”
A very wonderful sermon, however,Mr. Groves here mentions Randy Alcorn over and over again as though he has some special insight to the here after. This in reality is mere speculation. Mr. Groves would be more acurate by saying that " The Bible says......" rather than "Randy Alcorn says...." I say this because of many reasons, but especially what 1 Corinthians 2:9 says that we have no idea just how wonderful heaven will be and what God hath prepared for those that love Him. Lots of speculation in this sermon, rather than Scripture proofs. God does is not bound to "repay" us for our present sufferings according. This is not in the Bible. That is what Grace is all about. Still a good sermon though.

Jesus says “I am the way … no man comes to the Father but by me”.

No true Christian could have anything to do with this movement. Jesus uses extremely exclusive language when He says ‘the way’ and ‘no man’ in John 14:6. That means there is ONLY ONE WAY (and for anyone unable to grasp the concept - that means there is no other way) for EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the world.

Harmonize that!

I have to say I agree, Jim. Interesting article. And a keeper.

I notice that our two posts are kind of like thin bread slices of a sandwich. The post in the middle? Well … not much meat there but LOTS of filler.

Are wolf fangs inherited? Is it difficult to speak with fangs in your mouth? Maybe it’s something like a speech impediment that you learn to cope with after lots and lots of practice.

Jim, Michael, enough already: I appreciate your posts! Thanks.

Well, here’s some more Spurgeon:

---------
The master-piece of Satan is Popery. Just as the gospel of the grace of God is the noblest display of the divine attributes, so is the Popish system the most subtle of all the works of Satan, wherein he manifests his utmost skill; and as the energy of Omnipotence is prepared to consummate the triumph of the Lord’s Christ, so is all the might of hell engaged to secure the supremacy of Antichrist. (The Sword and the Trowel, August 1866)
---------

Mr. Spurgeon would probably admit that he was a wretch (apart from Christ) but misguided? NO. Deceived into error by the traditions of men and the wiles of Satan? NO again. Your own accusation DOES fit you, though, Lance. I’m sorry for you but you have apparently been targeted as a recipient of the strong delusion from God that you might believe a lie and be damned. There is no way you can ever become un-deluded if that is the case and you won’t even be aware of having that state of mind. I pray that God has a point in time selected for you where you will be granted repentance and become a born again man.

Repent, Lance, and believe the Gospel before it is eternally too late.

I differ with you, Mr. Ban. This is like a learning environment or maybe a boot camp where younger believers who are just learning to use their sWords can observe how the enemy operates and how to deal with it. This prepares them for real encounters with these same enemies in the schools, workplaces, etc. Teaches them to stick to the word of God, wield it, have confidence in it.

This is an open forum which encourages freedom of speech (within reason). You would have it converted into a locked down, ID + password environment which is less useful.

Maybe you should go find a more tame forum more to your liking.

enough already, it’s tough to try to prove the truth of something that’s not in Scripture. Might be better to re-present (they like re-presenting things) the concept of Christ Jesus Himself saying “Call no man your father upon the earth” [Mat 23:9]. They are totally disobedient in this area … even stick the word, Holy, in front of it in ref to their papa. Blasphemy!!

It’s good to see you folks still doing battle with the counter reformationists on here.

You may as well ask why we criticize the head wolf for lambasting the society that has been victimized by the wolf pack or made two fold more the children of hell because of it. It doesn’t mean we are sticking up for the victims when we do that. We are highlighting the danger of falling for the lie that the head wolf is a good shepherd.

Yes. I've heard of it. I am blessed whenever I see a doomed sinner humbled by the Gospel. That's the only peacemaking Christians can engage in. That's the only way there can be peace between God and man.

"I came not to bring peace; but a sword" - ever heard of it???
