Ivan wrote: The Greek word translated as “foreordained” (proginosko) should have been translated “foreknown” as it is everywhere else it is found in the Bible, but the translators couldn’t make sense of why Christ would be known as the Lamb slain way back before Creation. Therefore, they chose to use the word “foreordained,” changing the meaning of this verse to indicate that it was merely preplanned for Christ to be slain. However, this verse is really teaching that He had already been slain. We know that Christ did not actually die spiritually on the cross. We know this because He told the thief that he would be with Him in paradise that day: "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43) to continue....... This forum is about the projected date of Christ return, not the time of Christ sacrifice. When posts get off topic for too long, they close them. |

Tony Lopez-Cisneros wrote: Looks Like Someone Burnt "ynot's" Brain ! Where In THE HISTORIC AUTHORIZED HOLY JUDEO-CHRISTIAN BIBLE SCRIPTURES Does It Say "the repentant witches burned the books" ? He may not have meant witches in the English and American since. But the principle is still the same. People who used curious arts. And by the way, it was the people who used the curious arts that burned the books, not the Apostles. Acts 19:18, 19 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them which uses curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men:and they counted the price of them, and found it fify thousand pieces of silver. KJV |

Clarification on Observing the Sabbath Today Regarding the comment, "If the sabbath day is observed, it must be observed in such a way as to include all four of these things," here is how I teach on those points:
1. "... must be observed on Saturday." Although somewhat correct, it should be clarified that the Sabbath actually begins at sundown on Friday night and ends at sundown on Saturday night.
2. "No work can be done on the sabbath." Although technically correct, there are actually 39 categories of "work" that can not be done on the Sabbath according to Jewish tradition. This comes from the Oral Law, which is necessary to understand the fine points of each commandment [not just the 10 commandments but all 613 in the Pentateuch that Jews follow]. These 39 categories are believed to be all the types of work it took to construct the portable "temple."
3. "Any genuine observance of the sabbath day necessitates a return to the ceremonial law of the Old Testament." Correct to a point, in my opinion. The sacrifices in Jerusalem at the Temple were duties of the priests. However, individuals throughout Israel, even the diaspora today, still had to observe the stipulations of the Sabbath. Therefore, even without a Temple, individuals can observe the Sabbath.
Not enough space for the 4th comment on death penalty. |
