Lurker, considering the number of verses you posted, have you come across that one which records that the last Apostle of the Lord died and took speaking in tongues to the grave with him forever? Cessasionists are so adamant about that, surely it's gotta be in there somewhere . |

Wow, that's a lot of weaving there, Lurker to try and make a point. Are you sure you got it all together correctly? God is able to make people speak other languages today as easily as back on that Pentecost gathering, if it be his will, because the gifts are given according to His will(this kinda renders both Pentecostals and Cessasionists as rather helpless, one believing Initial Evidence and not much discernment, the other at the opposite end saying it's all over..or worse). I'm still awaiting the cessasionists' favorite passage which states when the last Apostle died and how he took speaking in tongues to the grave forever. The other person I hope to meet one day is one who speaks every language fluently, so we'll know just how much of this is just gibberish. Still no takers, and it's going to be a long time. Thankfully I have a Bible by which I can determine the authenticity of a message given in some other language and interpreted. If it contradicts, away with the message, but not the gifts of the Holy Spirit. |

Albert, you in the question-asking mood again and not getting biblical answers? Same with me....I've asked a few times for the non-babblers to show me in the Bible the date or time period in which tongues ceased or permits them to now be forbidden or says they are false and of the devil.....and I'm still waiting. Maybe you have the answer . As for the drinking poison and picking up snakes, I'd say those churches are not scriptural. Jesus didn't command such activity and we don't see the Apostles or Christians of the New Testament behaving in such manner. Those snake handling churches are just wrong, but that doesn't nulify the validity of gifts of the Holy Spirit today. Did you find the scripture with the date speaking in tongues ceased? Or the scripture which says such events went into a tomb with the last Apostle? I'm wondering who's really on shaky ground. |

DB, In parts of Louisiana there are a number of "Zion Traveler Baptist Church" congregations. Do you know much about them? Just figure I'd ask, since I think you are more a Cajun home-grown expert than I am (I was a trasplant ) |
