Gayle,

Dr. Phil will answer for himself but you seem to be confusing "biblical" evil with sin (man's folly!). They are not one and the same for if they were God would be the author of sin which is impossible.

Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].

1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Ah brother, What is that to me? I would keep the whole testimony that God has most certainly given me, but you do not recieve it: such is this whole generation.

And so you should and I trust you will grant me the same privilege. (For the record: I made that comment because I don't discuss my views of prophetic fulfillment on forums.)

I love you, brother. God bless.

Alternately, one could see it as a desire to share in Christ's sufferings.
To what end?

Isa 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with HIS STRIPES WE ARE HEALED.... if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead (Rom 4:24)

When Jesus said "It is finished" He meant it. There is no other salvation from perdition. None. No amount of self-flagellation or self-mutilation can add one iota to His finished work. All anyone can do is thank Him, love Him and trust Him to raise us up on the last day as He promised He would.

There is an eye opening writeup on [URL=http://www.nathanielturner.com/assessingblacktheology.htm]]]Black Theology.[/URL] It gives a feel for the presuppositions upon which the bible is interpreted through. Anyone who sat in a "church" preaching this kind of racist hate "theology" for twenty years and invited the pastor to be on his campaign staff is not fit to even toss his name into the ring as a candidate for president let alone be elected.

If this nation elects this man I'm afraid to say we deserve what will likely be unleashed upon us. It has nothing to do with the color of the man's skin but the evil teachings that has shaped his heart. He is an impressive orator telling the people what they want to hear and what it takes to get elected but if elected the will of his heart he will pursue. He cannot deny what he is.

When will we wake up?!?
It is sad, isn't it! But if God has given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that should not see and ears that should not hear, we must wait on and trust the One whose voice they will hear in His time, if it so be His will. Not one the Father gave to Him will perish.

None the less, it is sad to the point of bitter frustration to see a people so blind they can't see what a child could see but this blindness is not isolated to the RCC by any means. Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments. Amen.

When read in context it appears that the flood Joshua spoke of was the flood of fire and brimstone which overthrew Somom and Gomorrah. The timing is right and these words spoken by Jesus add strength to this view:

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. Luke 17:26-30

The other side of the flood is the time before the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah when men served idols and knew not God.

1Jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith: for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.

Jhn 6:28-29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

It's not how much we can do for God in the form of good works and publishing lists of new sins to merit His favor (for those filthy rags will send one to perdition because it is blasphemy and rejection of the Holy Spirit) but if we live by faith, trusting in Him alone, He will make His abode in us and work His works through us for without Christ in us, the hope of glory, we can do nothing pleasing to the Father.

The Vatican publishing new sins is laughable, yet so sad because of the multitudes who swallow up those dregs of spiritual drunkenness to their shame and damnation, for this institution has never known the way of righteousness.... ever.

I agree Mr. J, The following bears out the inclusivness of the Mosaic covenant:

Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath; But with [him] that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with [him] that [is] not here with us this day: (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by; And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which [were] among them): Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go [and] serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood; And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
Deut 29:14-2

It is clear that the Egyptians were judged by the curse of the same covenant by which Israel was blessed.

Another interesting inference:

Deu 7:7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

"How Were Old Testament Saints Saved?"

Luk 10:25-28 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

Ah, a wee bit of honesty for a change.

You've already demonstrated you are no different by falsely accusing those of the reformed persuasion of "worshipping" Calvin. But unlike the others, at least you will admit it.

(John Calvin Commentary on John 3:16)

Just an observation-i hear the name John Calvin worshipped on sermon audio at a ratio of perhaps 3;1 compared to the Messiah of Israel.

It's customary when quoting a commentary to acknowledge the author. For you to call this "worship" makes you less than honest at the very least. Further, it is those who hate the system of theology of the reformed with an inordinate hatred who continually flaunt the name of Calvin on these threads in their never ending campaign to misrepresent a system of theology and tie their misrepresentations to the name Calvin and those who believe that system of theology is biblical.

With those facts in mind, how are you any different than them?
