Bishops and deacons most certainly should not be getting rich for the sake of it. However my view is that if you are faithful to present the true gospel to the best of your God given ability i am not concerned about your income, unless you are fully dedicated to full time preaching and cannot pay your bills when you are living modestly. Perhaps it's just my bent, if you know what I mean.
I do have a great skepticism towards anyone who has a "tv ministry". Hard pressed to find one that doesn't turn my stomach with their perversion of the Word.
There are many things that are not specifically spelled out in scripture that we believe as truth. Trinity, Calvinism etc. and a salary is not mentioned either so I can't really follow that line personally. Deciding what is enough money to make smacks of communism and mob rule. If we don't support a ministry that we can give to freely we should not support it, but if John Mac makes 10 million a year I personally don't care. I am only concerned if he , or anyone else , preaches truth. Love of money is for sure a great snare that brings much evil.
I see no reason all preachers should live in poverty, that's not what you're suggesting is it. If one is preaching the gospel and is true to the teaching of scripture shouldn't he be able to receive whatever the church body deems is appropriate. Is the problem with pastors salary with the preacher, the church or ours? ( just trying to understand other points of view, don't jump to conclusions lol )
I fail to see how much a preacher makes in salary is relevant to teaching truth. What would someone with comparable education and experience make working for a corporation? True that most all high profile preachers are money grubbing phonies (TBN/Daystar). Most objection I have heard regarding a preachers salary reflects the heart of the accuser and not the accused. Friendship with apostate, heretic or anything Church of Rome should never be a part of a reformed church.
Oh TBN will a all a twitter about the end times after this and the hurricanes. About all the talk about , besides send us your money. Read Revelation this week and me thinks we are far from it.
I've listened.to Swanson on the topic. Most churches don't play hymns or classical music. Even when they do many (myself included) don't recognize them right away. I did not grow up in church so many of the hymns are new to me, as probably the case for new and social church goers.
I had an argument with a homosexual Unitarian Universalist this week. (Imagine that me arguing lol) he insisted that he was indeed Christian and that he belonged to the true church. No matter which way i went all I got were liberal talking points and attempts at shouting me down. Hard to get through when their validation comes from themselves and scary to think I think he sincerely believes it. I see him in a semi regular basis so you can bet that argument will continue 👍 I hope the Trumpster stays behind the baker long term, would be interesting to see it play out.
