Postmodernism is the ridiculous belief that there is no such thing as absolute truth, and therefore, everything must be evaluated in terms of personal experience rather than truth. That is how we ended up with ecumenism and syncretism. This book seems to be more along the lines of using Scripture to interpret Scripture, which is how it should be done.
I think there is nothing wrong with praying for the nation as a whole, though it is important to do so with the correct mindset and motivation. I wouldn't pray out of a sense of patriotism, but rather out of a sense of glorifying God through our nation. Don't pray for economic recovery, but pray that God would call his sheep to Himself. Pray thathis light would shine through us as a beacon to the rest of the world.
Yes, unisex does indeed mean androgynous, which is what they have had all along. One uniform for everyone. Now they are rolling out a more gender specific alternate version for females.
But I would encourage church leaders eager to win millennials back to sit down and really talk with them about what they’re looking for and what they would like to contribute to a faith community."
Ugh.....stop trying to be relevant. Just present the truth. Stop flirting with heresy and stand for the truth. If they leave because they don't like it, so be it. God has hardened their hearts and given them over to their desires.
I do believe the article specifically states the WORLD is getting more religious, not necessarily Austin. It also says the numbers are driven in large part by a resurgence in China, so unless you are looking outside of your own little neighborhood, you may very well not see it. It also doesn't restrict it to Christianity, as that is not even projected to be one of the fastest growing religions. The term "religious" is a rather vague, ambiguous, non-specific term. After all, even atheists are religious.
Nah, Rick Warren should step down for his heretical ecumenism, his embracing of "fellow believers", such as mormons and catholics. His belief thathe can have fellowship with such people should bring into question anyone else's belief regarding his qualifications to shepherd a flock of Christ's followers.
It is my understanding that his son was no longer part of the household, so the application of that particular standard would be shaky at best, in my opinion.
America has NEVER been a democracy. We are a representative republic. If he doesn't know the difference, that would explain why he was such a terrible president.
Not sure what fugu is, but i think we may be concentrating on different portions of "dying before one's time". We all have an appointed time to die and there is nothing we can do to change it. If someone dies from eating improperly prepared fugu, it is only because God allowed it. To think we have anything to do with it is simply arrogance.
This guy sounds like a real winner! Does he really believe blacks are being conscripted into military service? I notice the article mentions that he is a lawyer......i wonder which state's bar exam he passed?
Agreed, John. Homosexuals are welcome to come to our church's services (though I've yet to see one), but they absolutely will not be allowed to join unless and until they have repented.
to protect ourselves from the possibility of having a possible scenario where someone joins the church and demands use of the facilities for a same-sex ceremony."
Wouldn't the appropriate defense be to not let homosexuals join the church in the first place?
"Sexuality doesn't come up and isn't relative to typical scouting activities..." Funny how it never comes up, and yet that's all they've been talking about for the past year. As for her comment about southern baptists drifting to the right.....oh how I wish it were so. At BEST they have remained in place, but realistically, they have just been drifting left slower than everyone else. Example, Moore's comment that Jesus sinned. smh
