The atheist - a cultural christian? Essentially they write their own bible, their god being the human vanity. But There are people like this in religion too! The papists wrote their own version of the bible, hence the need for a 16th century Reformation, to restore the Law and doctrine of God. But (2) There are also others eg the Arminian contributers to this very site; like JD and Yamil. They too have written their own version of scriptures to avail themselves of works based religion. The conclusion then is that the atheist is very much in the same mold as the heretic, a cultural christian - viz one who worships the creature and seeks to secure salvation by their own effort. Psalm 99 "The Lord reigneth" But HE is clearly not so sovereign in the philosophy of some. |

News item wrote: MUSLIM and Christian scholars are to gather in Singapore next week at the invitation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Isn't it amazing that Liberalism and Islam both come from the same antichrist source, yet here we see them try to build bridges between their heretical chasms. Iniquity in the human condition easily deludes the sinner, even to believe they are of God's purpose. |

kevin wrote: Seaton, explain something to me, you said, "we in the reformed church pray that all sinners shall believe on Jesus Christ for salvation." How can that be possible when the reform churches teach "only the elect are saved"By the way where, when, where and how did GOD know who these elect were? How did GOD know that Jacob was good and Esau was bad? Ans # 1 = God knows who the Elect are we don't. So we pray for our neighbors.Ans # 2 = is in Ephesians 1:4 "According as he hath chosen us in him ***BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD***, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having ***PREDESTINATED US*** unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will" Remember what the Lord stated, Kevin. Matt 22:14 "For MANY are called, but FEW are chosen." |

Abigail"By the Fall man contracted an inability to do that which is good. He is not only unfitted and unwilling, but unable to do that which is good. Where is the man that can truthfully say he has measured up to his own ideals? All have to acknowledge there is a strange force within dragging them downward; inclining them to evil, which, notwithstanding their utmost endeavors against it, in some form or other, more or less, conquers them. Despite the kindly exhortations of friends, the faithful warnings of God's servants, the solemn examples of suffering and sorrow, disease and death on every side, and the vote that their own conscience gives, yet they yield. “They that are in the flesh [in their natural condition] cannot please God” (Rom. 8:8)."
