Street-Preacher wrote: It's Just Like Spiritually LOST Children Of The Devil & Non-"Born-Again" Mankind; Always Wanting To Play "The Devil's Advocate" &-Or In "silofolous's" Case: The Pharisees' Advocate. But Why Won't They EVER Play The LORD Jesus Christ's Advocate ?... It would appear you didn't pay attention to the heart of my post. Please respond, either with repentance for not possessing the Fruit of the Spirit, or with an argument that you do have the Fruit of the Spirit (obviously saying it in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control). |

Street-Preacher wrote: Sorry Silofolous, But You Are Being Cruel, Hating & EVIL By Not Speaking, Telling & Testifying To THE TRUTH !... I'm trying to imagine being a pharisee, and you being Jesus responding like that. It doesn't really sit with me. I just have a feeling you are being ridiculously harsh in your words. I do not see love in your words, nor joy, nor peace, nor patience, nor goodness, nor kindness, nor gentleness, nor faithfulness, nor self-control. Against these things there is no law, and so I suggest you integrate these into your responses. |

James 4:4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 2 Cor. 6:14. Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15. Or what harmony has Christ with Belial, or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? 16. Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. 17. "Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE," says the Lord. "AND DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you. 18. "And I will be a father to you, And you shall be sons and daughters to Me," Yes, well, it's nice of you to throw Bible verses at me and all, but you've done nothing to explain how they fit contextually in this situation. So please do explain. Thank you. |

The question is, who are we translating these Bibles for? For God? But why, He knows Greek and Hebrew better than anyone! We translate the Scriptures for the benefit of man.If one's language and culture allows one to read a Word-for-Word Bible, then very good. But if one's language does not, then we are left with 2 options: Either we translate it as Word-for-Word, and then attach something to the Scripture as a "Guide to reading the Bible". KJV Only types usually (not always, so don't give me your own upbringing as a refutation) grow up in families of KJV-Only people, and thus they grow up hearing Elizabethan English and don't really have a problem reading the KJV. Most Americans don't grow up hearing Elizabethan English much, and therefore the Bible they were given will be of little use because they can't read it! So, either you make some sort of guide to help a layperson read their own Bible, or you get a committee (hopefully with a varied number of opinions as to minimize bias) and translate it from the original languages into words that the layperson can understand. So the best option, in all honesty, is to have both Word-for-Word and Thought-for-Thought translations, because they each have their own advantages and disadvantages. |

Rick wrote: There is no need for that friend. I was agreeing with your post, and anwering what I though to be an honest quetion, believing you really wanted an answer. I am a pastor and have delt with this and many other things. If you really want an anwser on how we handle some of these things, I'd be glad to share. But if your questions are just to raise objections, I'm not availabe for that. God Bless, and keep up the good heart you have for reaching the lost. The Lord will honor you. lol that was my post not his. Thanks for the compliment. As to your comment though, I would say if anyone wouldn't because of concern for others it would be the murderers (general) , because they don't discriminate. Keeping out a child sex offender saves the children, keeping out a murderer saves everybody, if you understand what I'm saying. I don't intend to sound so cold, but I understand my point could be taken as such. |

Of course sex offenders belong in church! How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? Romans 10:14 (ESV) You say: Well, you don't need to go to church to hear preaching. Street evangelism will be sufficient. So what is this street evangelist going to say should a sex offender repent and truly be saved? " Well, just stay by yourself, and don't commune with other believers as the writer of Hebrews tells you to do". Paul, speaking to the church in Corinth, reminds the members that many of the CONGREGATION were murderers, homosexuals, adulterers, thieves, etc. But that they were washed and sanctified. What makes being a sex offender any worse than being a murderer, an adulterer, or one who is sexually immoral (which may even include being a sex offender, I don't claim to know the Greek)? |

Mike wrote: If the King James Version was good enough for Paul, it's good enough for me. Wait, do you mean the Paul who died a millenia and a half before the translators of the KJV stopped sucking their thumbs? Cause that would confuse me. |
