I was concerned whether it was biblical for me to preach to and teach a male cat: And whether it was biblical for him to be baptized by a woman. This may not be a problem soon, for my husband is about ready to baptize him again. I am concerned though, that it may not be of the right spirit? But that sometimes our cat backslides, and angers my husband. Tonight he appreciated The Lord's Prayer with purrs and is looking forward to God's mercies that are new every morning.
Jessica; That was purrrfect. Iv'e tried to teach my cat about church history. He liked the stories about the catacombs, but the rest of the time he is just catatonic. Blessed are those who sleep in the Lord.
Doddridge wrote: "Many of his church members came from far-off villages, so Doddridge, assisted by his students and church elders, took the gospel to them regularly and introduced daily family worship among them. The elders' major duty was to catechize members at their homes and distribute Christian literature such as Doddridge's Family Expositor and his famous The Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul. The elders also helped in church discipline when drunkenness, bankruptcy, and quarreling among members' families marred fellowship in the church. "
Please Clarify. The context looks like you are refering to the Crystal Cathedral, but the description is anything but what Schuller is about.
Here we go again with another Emergent Empathant. Goes right along with Brian Mclaren and the rest of the Postmodern crowd. Key words; Narrtive (the flow of a story instead of the historical grammatical approach)New Christianity (refried liberalism)Kingdom (utopian socialist material order)No more us against them (be like them and they will like us.

Very well put. I'd like to be able to use that quote.
Very good as far as it goes. But, it is not mentioned that she comes right out and says Homosexuality itself is wrong. Did the article just not mention it, or did she carefully craft her speach to avoid saying homosexuality was wrong?
She gives all appearences of being conservative by her remarks against Gay Marriage, but again, whare are the remarks that being gay is sin?
Isn't it terrible how fulfilling the great commision, i.e evangelizing, witnessing, ect. has not only been demonized itself, but has been labeled Proselytizing? The very word itself is meant to sound negative, and even illegal. Almost sounds like Prostituing. This negative sounding label is no accident.
Click on the news article and read the comments that are posted. It will be a real eye opener for many christians to see how many people love to make vile comments about the Lord and those who belive in him.
Most of the people in my church have never read blogs and such. They would be shocked at the amount of people who really hate the God of the Bible.
Unless these people get saved, they will learn the truth the hard way.
Let's contiue to pray for Hitchens and all his followers.
Even the saved were once children of wrath just as Hitchens and all the God hating athiests. But God's mercy and grace overcame our hardness. He can do the same for them.

Having just enough health and strength left to tell poor sinners that a Saviour has died, I am packing in readiness for a move in early October to the Mission Field. The Lord is with me, and I am very happy to be doing his will. I shall be preaching from my trusty pocket TBS New Testament (AV) and, thanks to gifts from two true friends I met here on SA, and because my voice is very weak, I shall be purchasing one of these portable pa systems Time is of the essence, and I must use it wisely if I am to tell every soul that Christ has died that they might live. Men must be encouraged to believe the gospel is for them as sinners, which of course it is. Adios amigos
I think I've come up with about all the clever things to say about this sort of event already. The only thing I could add is that I'm just deeply greived that, what is called the church, continues it's downward spiral into sillyness. All the while thinking that they are being "Relevant".
There will no doubt be people who will come to church needing a word from God regarding situations of eternal importance. And what will they get? Stages with workout equipment, corvetts, beds, ect. The prophets are prophesying falsly in the Lord's name, and his people love to have it so.
The problem of men not going to church goes back much further. Before WWII many men took the lead in the home and church, but after they never came back to church. And the reason wasn't what this crack pot is saying. The author is more concerned with Give the People what they want" approach than he is with what God says. It's not that church is suited to women and not men. It's that men are spiritual sissys, and little boys that don't want to do something if it takes discilpine and self sacrifice. Iv'e seen to much of this entertainment movemnet. These gimmick churches may gain a lot of people, but before the judgment seat of Christ it will all be Wood, Hay, and Stubble.
Silofolous wrote: lol that was my post not his. Thanks for the compliment. As to your comment though, I would say if anyone wouldn't because of concern for others it would be the murderers (general) , because they don't discriminate. Keeping out a child sex offender saves the children, keeping out a murderer saves everybody, if you understand what I'm saying. I don't intend to sound so cold, but I understand my point could be taken as such.
Sorry for the mistake. I'm kinda old for all the computer stuff, so I hit the wrong things sometimes. God bless and goodnight.
2Rist wrote: As to "concern for children" I assume that concern extends beyond the walls of the church building into the whole community? This being so I further assume there is a facility within your community for dealing with sex offenders and other criminals. Alternatively you could have a couple of bouncers at the door of the church and ensure that unseemly and villainous characters are kept out. In doing so you could claim "ownership" of the church and suspect all callings which you don't personally authorise. Luke 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
There is no need for that friend. I was agreeing with your post, and anwering what I though to be an honest quetion, believing you really wanted an answer. I am a pastor and have delt with this and many other things.
If you really want an anwser on how we handle some of these things, I'd be glad to share. But if your questions are just to raise objections, I'm not availabe for that.
God Bless, and keep up the good heart you have for reaching the lost. The Lord will honor you.
Silofolous wrote: Of course sex offenders belong in church! How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? Romans 10:14 (ESV) You say: Well, you don't need to go to church to hear preaching. Street evangelism will be sufficient. So what is this street evangelist going to say should a sex offender repent and truly be saved? " Well, just stay by yourself, and don't commune with other believers as the writer of Hebrews tells you to do". Paul, speaking to the church in Corinth, reminds the members that many of the CONGREGATION were murderers, homosexuals, adulterers, thieves, etc. But that they were washed and sanctified. What makes being a sex offender any worse than being a murderer, an adulterer, or one who is sexually immoral (which may even include being a sex offender, I don't claim to know the Greek)?
Very good response. As to the last point though; the difference of concern would be that of the safety of children. Close supervision would be wise.

Thanks for those resources. Even though there were other issues that have been dissappointed with in Dallas Seminary, at least they used to stand strong on the scripture. Looks like they are going the way of too many other schools.
