I need to put up something by NPR if I can find the right thread, and this isn't the one. But this is from US News & World Report, and what Shields and Brooks had to say about it agreed with it.

https://tinyurl.com/u8ky6ev (Shields and Brooks on Iran conflict, impeachment trial standoff) It comes with a transcript so you can see the parts that you're only interested in.

Just substitute the word, "permanent" or put it alongside "interim" wherever it occurs in the post and it will even be more accurate!

3. Political causes divide congregants.

Unless you’re the Interim Pastor of a very small church, chances are better than ever that the members are not unified on many inflammatory political questions of the day; younger believers especially hold views radically different than their elders. It may even be that the political divide has contributed to a long history of short pastorates.
Interim Pastors who preach on or introduce political causes, views, convictions, opinions or theories into the sermon are going to gain stature with some and lose stature with others.
You’re there to unite the church around its God-given mission, not cause fractures to set in place.

excerpt from "Wisdom for Interim Pastors"

Timothy, my gift isn't being a street Preacher. unfortunately, or very fortunately, if they realize the fact most pastors aren't designed to be politicians either

Mike, you may consider a conservative Unitarian Church perfect-- I wouldn't even consider a politically conservative Methodist Church anywhere near a perfect Church❗

The person featured in the article may have been looking at just one town or his own state? I wouldn't be surprised if some of the rural schools in New Jersey were not so Satan besotted. I would have been more impressed if he said to keep them out of Catholic parochial schools, no matter which of the 50 states you're looking at❗👎

Romans 8:5-8
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace; because the mind of the flesh is hostile toward God, for it is not subject to God’s law, neither indeed can it be. Those who are in the flesh can’t please God. ---WEB

Bloomberg being a good Jew, works alright necessary part of salvation❗ One might also add, a Christian without works probably doesn't have faith.

James 2:13-18
For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. What good is it, my brothers, if a man says he has faith, but has no works? Can faith save him? And if a brother or sister is naked and in lack of daily food, and one of you tells them, “Go in peace. Be warmed and filled;” yet you didn’t give them the things the body needs, what good is it? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself. Yes, a man will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Timothy, sometimes you are amusing but almost always wrong . I would suggest you read the Wikipedia article about Jim Bakker. If you had read the article you would known that Jim Bakker was and still is wrong.

You know, Timothy, it is just as easy for you to look up Wikipedia as it is me❗

It is an interesting article so I will reference it. So they were most likely the cause of the trouble in Washington DC.👎

So old alleycats approve of Trump then Tim?😻🐈

While white evangelical Protestants generally give Trump high approval ratings, that does not mean they have no reservations about him. An August 2018 survey found that roughly half of white evangelicals do not think that Trump has set a high moral standard for the presidency since taking office. Some prominent evangelical leaders, such as Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church, have expressed ambivalence about Trump and concern about some of his policies. Others, such as Beth Moore, founder of Living Proof Ministries, openly oppose the president....

White evangelicals no doubt hold youth different than Christ on their participation in government

Pew Research wrote:

At the same time, U.S. adults are resoundingly clear in their belief that religious institutions should stay out of politics. https://tinyurl.com/yzqf86co (McCarthy - Power Feeds on Fear)

This special was put on last night on PBS and I would think it would be repeated throughout the week, but no telling. You should be able to watch it from the above site on the internet.

While the entire show is interesting about this demagogue McCarthy, what is really pertinent to this thread near the end of the show. It was pointed out that the news media helps demagogues, because they sell advertising on the news media. Frankie Graham gets covered as much as he does, because he sells advertising. The news media worked hand-in-hand with demagogues, because of the money.

There was one feature of the news media back then, there isn't now though. They had celebrity news casters who were interested in the truth. In fact Edward R. Murrow had much to do with slapping down McCarthy❗👍

So, one advantage to using the internet to see the show, you can fast forward to the various sections such as a part on the news media which is probably around 20 minutes before the end, or less, and hear about the effect of the news media.
