Thank you Jessica. Yes, I was thinking of a crash hat, or helmet. A very wise law. I remember the Sikh community was trying to get an exception, because they always wear a turban, but I don't know how they got on.
There are still some women in Wales who always wear a hat to church, although most have cut their long locks, which is a pity. But I don't think the Lord would want you to be legalistic regarding your difficult situation; he understands.
Hi John, I had never heard of the term 'crash hat' and that's basically what helmets are, aren't they!?

I remember years ago there were Sikh men working at a local lumber mill and they wore their hard hats on top of their turbans which caused quite the stir. I wonder if they had to sign liability wavers?

Thank you for pointing out that I should not be legalistic. I have a mobility brush and comb which are probably more than a foot long so I can do my best to try and brush my hair. I still don't have the mobility to brush it back and I am not physically able to pin it up. I have Home Care workers in three times a week to wash it.

I don't think a hat would help much in the event of an accident!

]] Motorcycle helmets: the law UK

At many work sites it is the law for men to wear hard-hats. Moreover, Paul does not say that a man can Never cover his head - it could be cold outside and he may need to wear a touque (a type warm hat), or he may need to wear a hat to shade himself from the hot sun, or he may need to wear a hat with a uniform. Historically, men have often shown respect by removing their hats upon entering Church or for prayer, or to bring news of the death of a loved one.

I have heard elderly women say they remember when all women wore hats to Church. I think mercy needs to be extended to women who have mobility issues and cannot look after long hair. I am very disabled and my long hair is a grief to me.

Thank you Delores - May God our Father ever bring you comfort and hope - through the fellowship of The Holy Spirit - through our Lord Christ Jesus!

The Parable of the Wedding Feast

If you are in the mood for an affair, you can find it can happen even in church...
Sister Delores,

It is such a shame and a poor witness when sexually immoral relationships start in the church. I was attending one Church years ago and though it was known that I am married, one man in the Church was trying to set me up with a single man in the Church - I ended up having a nervous break-down (not being able to talk; walking around in a daze) that day (at the Church picnic) because I felt so afraid and vulnerable.

I am so sorry to learn that you have suffered so much because of the sinful desires of the men in your life. It absolutely broke my heart when I read your testimony! God bless, hope, and peace to you!

Hi sister,

Have been remembering you in prayer.
Pastor Silversides was really spot on with his sermon...may we all take heed.
~Peace and Grace in the Lord Jesus Christ~
Hi Dorcas, God bless ~ grace ~ hope - and peace be with you! Thank you for your prayers, as I live in weakness (physically, mentally, and spiritually) and am always needing God to strengthen me. I agree, I found the pastor Silversides' sermon also helpful to encourage the believer in godly conversation in any arena. With how much I fumble, this teaches me I am not sufficient without God and that I always have room to grow in Him. May we all take heed indeed, amen!

Jessica, people definitely share way to much information about their children. Another good example would be the stickers people put on their cars, giving info out to everyone on the road.
Thank you for the insight, SF, and may God be with you and your loves ones always: in times of need and in times of abundances. Peace, hope, and God bless!

Hey Jessica, hope you are doing ok. I remember that, and it seems like in those ubiquitous terms of agreements that nobody reads they probably obtained permission to do that. Other than occasional comments, like advising will pray for request mentioned, I rarely post and so probably wouldn't be one of their unwilling subjects. I would question the scruples of such an experiment but people need to realize that is part of what they can expect and the less personal info you put on these sites the better.
Unprofitable Servant - greetings in Jesus Mighty Name - I can understand Facebook gathering data for market-research and providing data to corporations to understand their brand positioning. Yet to deliberately manipulate the emotions of users - depriving them of encouraging messages - when they have not informed the subjects, and do not have knowledge of their medical/mental health history when it could have serious effects the users' well-being is irresponsible.

I agree with you that it is also irresponsible to post vacation photos and letting people know that your house is vacant. People also in my experience share way too much personal information about their children's activities - making them possible targets.

"[Facebook] has published details of a vast experiment in which it manipulated information posted on 689,000 users' home pages and found it could make people feel more positive or negative through a process of 'emotional contagion.'"

]]Facebook reveals experiment to control emotions

"Facebook wanted to find out if emotions are contagious. So the company edited the information that it sends to customers’ pages—their so-called newsfeed—for 700,000 people who were its unknowing test subjects. To see whether a positive, upbeat mood could be contagious, Facebook filtered out information that seemed sad or negative, whether it originated from Facebook friends or from the news in general. And they also filtered out positive messages when trying to set a more negative mood."

Jessica, I sense you have the same heart for the perscuted church as well. Your spirit and posts speak comfort and blessings as well to me. I have a prayer request as well. A spot on my husbands liver was found during a cat-scan and MRI. My husband got a message confused and we misunderstood. He has been refered to a Cancer Specialist Wednesday. Just helps me to know that others are praying. Thanks, prayers for you also and blessings dear sister.
Dearest Delores, I have prayed for your husband and am waiting upon our Lord to bring hope and help!

More than ten years ago I learned that Christians are being persecuted (in Islamic Nations) to the extent as the Early Church was persecuted. I saw photos of Christian men and women with hot knife scars taking over their chests and backs from Islamic militants. And Christian mothers having their chests burnt so severely that they were no longer able to breastfeed their infants and so the babies died.

It is such a horror and yet I feel like a bump on a log doing nothing, helpless.

Dear Penny, May God Almighty heal of us our hurts and bring us into a place of forgiveness and everlasting peace in our souls! I wish my parents had taught me about protecting myself from sexual predators as soon as I could talk! Then I would have been able to go to them, when before the age of 5 my cousins of similar age were asking me to do sexual things and telling me I would get into trouble if I told anyone. My cousins were being sexually abused and carrying on the abusive behaviour in their ignorance in an adult pattern. Thus, I became a child with innocence lost and a part of the cycle of abuse since before I can remember. This is one of the reasons Christmas stresses me out so much, because people do not suspect leaving 3 - 6 year olds to all sleep together as a potential abusive situation. And people do not understand that child molesters often spend more time being fun, unsuspecting, and charming than the average person.

My cousins lived on the same street where they went to Sunday School, and where their child molesting father went to Sunday School when he was a small child. And this was the place where I first went to Sunday School and it was not a pleasant introduction to the the Gospel.

Since 1,400 children have been found illegally abandoned in Indiana since 1999, I would have to agree that this program is necessary.

According to the article: "Critics say the boxes do nothing to address poverty and other societal issues that contribute to unwanted newborns." Yet not having the boxes potentially puts newborns at risk. Moreover, just because mothers may use these boxes, may not equal to newborns being "unwanted." Moses' mother found herself in a situation where she put her baby (Moses) into a water-proof basket and put it/him in the reeds in the water by the banks of a river. Moses' life was saved through the heroic act of his mother, and I have no doubt that this will/has been the case with other women.

As for addressing the needs of the poor, I look to the Words of our Lord Jesus: "[Y]ou always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good for them."

Give to food banks, soup kitchens, and other ministries whenever God places a cheerful urge to give to the poor on your hearts - peace!

I know that many who post on this site have a knee-jerk reaction in questioning who is a (real) Christian (believer) and who is not so: unless you have heard it straight from God, please assume that all 200 plus of those kidnapped are your brothers and sisters. Please plead to the Father for mercy that they all be released or rescued.
Its amazing that after all these years the reluctant evangelist Jonah still has a residual harvest in Nineveh (Mosul)!
I agree, and we should pray for their captors to repent! To pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ and to pray for our enemies is an honour Christ has bestowed upon we His people...

Abba Father, please be merciful to your people!

I used to attend Bible Studies and Prayer Groups at a Baptist Church years ago and would listen to the testimonies of the elderly people. One person stated that they remembered many years previous, when any members were ill, that the pews would fill with believers praying for their brothers and sisters in need. She mourned as we looked out at the empty pews in the old church while an elder member was gravely ill.

May our prayers go up as a sweet incense unto God our Father through our Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of our brothers and sisters...

[...] Jessica, did you understand that he was not suggesting that you eat fast food in the previous post? When he mentioned fast food,he was suggesting that it may be problematic if you did just eat it.And he may not have been well enough acquainted with your specific condition to know that exercise might be a challenge to you.I don't think that he was being cruel there. Not everyone is familiar with all who post on here. It might help to keep that in mind. We all have a propensity, from time to time,to read things through subjective eyes and miss what was actually intended.
I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and encouragement to me!

sc I do not know if I misunderstood Jim's post or not, because when you dissect the actual words he said it does read as if he is encouraging a diet of fast foods in addition to exercise. I cannot truly know, because he has not clarified this?

Jim Lincoln wrote:

Thank you to the many people on SermonAudio who are compassionate prayer supporters of myself and each other. You are indeed Lights of the World and Salt of the Earth giving hope where there is hurt. I have seen people share in each other's struggles, including mine and lifting one another up. Though I am diagnosed with "organic schizophrenia due to childhood head-injuries," and am physically disabled, the majority of people here show me kindness and do not accuse me of sin...
