The first "Pope" was Judas Iscariot - he was incidentally also the "first" to "go to his own place". In the Acts of the Apostles, and in the Epistles of St Paul and St John many comparable figures, such as Simon Magus, Demas, Alexander and Diotrephes, are mentioned.. The Papacy only gained power when Emperor Constantine made "conversion" to the State-religion "christianity" mandatory. Pope Benedict XVI is the latest successor to this - by no means "apostolic" - power
Euthanasia started in Nazi-Germany like that. First the theory was proposed - what a "good thing" it would be to reduce suffering -then the pressurizing or blackmail of doctors and staff to force them to comply - resulting in the Holocaust. And now the Anglican Church, the Bible notwithstanding, takes up the cause. Human nature being what it is it would seem that history is about to repeat itself; - as Henry Ford reputedly said : - "History learns us that no-one learns from History".
Lord Bew┬┤s euphoric terminology in the article is revealing. "Blair is seducing Paisley." Blair, whom Lord Bew terms "the old maestro", has perfected his ability in the Art of Political Seduction over the years. Dr Paisley should think on Nehemiah┬┤s answer to Sanballat and Geshem when they invited him to come to a parley : - "I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you ?" (Nehemiah 6,3) Or he could just remember the old proverb : - "He who sups with the devil should take a long spoon." May the Lord defend His people in Ulster and guide Dr Paisley.
"Let there be no doubt that the Council on American-Islamic Relations is a terrorist supporting front organization that is partially funded by terrorists, and that CAIR wishes nothing more than the implementation of Sharia law in America."
- see www.anti-cair-net.org -
CAIR complains and education authorities in the USA jump to obey ??? And the US -government says and does nothing ?
This England is getting less and less like the one we knew at Leeds 50 years ago. We could discuss the hungarian uprising, the Suez adventure, the A-Bomb, catholicism, christianity and atheism with heat and individual conviction - but never with violence - and that notwithstanding our being a motly and self-opinionated crew on all inflammatory subjects. True, there were no moslems amongst us but: `honi soit qui mal y pense.┬┤ However, then as now, the Lord┬┤s command is still relevant : `Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them all to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.┬┤ (Matthew 28, 19-20) We have His warning : `If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.┬┤ (John 15, 18)
GG, Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, imprisoned and tortured by Nazis and Communists successively for 14 years had the answer : - "We hate Nazism and Communism but love Nazis and Communists." I submit that Dr Paisley - and many others - are of the same opinion concerning Catholicism and Catholics. And no, one should not voluntarily "share power" with someone who is prepared to use physical force against you if he so decides. Our Lord certainly commanded no such thing.
GG, your comments are not even witty let alone true. You don┬┤t agree with Albert - so what ? I don┬┤t agree with you but that┬┤s just a statement of fact; it is not a personal insult as you are wont to claim. I too am glad Dr Paisley has won and in my opinion he is perfectly right to demand that the IRA publically and credibly renounce all intention of resorting to force - ie terrorism - as a political argument in the future, before agreeing to any form of power-sharing with the Sinn Fein. Your references to " have babies" and "mackerel snappers" are distasteful and irrelevant
Jerry, you┬┤re making it sound easy -"get rid of the germans and there┬┤s no problem." The germans - and other peoples - are saddled with a legislation that the government has no interest in, or intention of,changing. For why ? They count up the euros, pounds or dollars - and Power - that it means to them. Let┬┤s say it┬┤s a Dry Run for the Anti-Christ Legislation of the Last Days. We┬┤re all in the same boat - but christians are the only ones to see the real reason for it: the world - and its governments - have always hated the Lord Jesus Christ. Maranatha !
GG - it is surprising that the editor left your contribution on the site. It is abusive, insulting and un.tue. You will persuade no-one that you are right with that soetof approach. N0 - just as a statement of fact with no insult intended - Roman Catholics are not necessarily Christians, many are marians or pagans.
