The title of this article is misleading.
I was totally heated then I clicked on the link and found that most if not all of the presidential contenders are invited!! Most of the people that posted comments seem to have totally missed that bit of information.
I dislike Hillary and all that she stands for. But in the real world we often have to work out issues with our "enemies".
In fact, a famous book that I read says "love your enemies, pray for those who spitefully use you." All Rick Warren is doing is trying to create a place to work on the AIDS issue. To work out real world solutions to real world issues. He is not saying anything about any of the candidates belief systems...it is an AIDS conference, not his Sunday morning service.
BTW, Abigail, do you know how much Rick Warren personally makes per year? Do you know what he did concerning his salary and his book royalties?
Thank you Kevin for your thoughts...
I pray that all of us will learn that we will be judged with the same judgment we
use. Not justifying sin...but being very careful how hastily we slam some one (or stone them as may be the case.)
Sorry, but I do not agree with you.
God does not call his preachers to
hold AIDS seminars. Wake UP!

Am I a Calvinist, no, Im just an old Jesus freak, if I agree that the Bible says what it says and a Calvinist feels the same way, Im finding that just happens to be true with most Calvinist and myself, why is that?
Should I call myself a Calvinist, is that how you become one? and Im not trying to be funny, I know I have my moments, but Im truly asking, I see titles as division, am I wrong? Is it to late to just call yourself a christian in the world today. thanks
terry
God Bless you, it appears that you
love the Lord and that is what really
matters. I also am a Christian First.

Perhaps titles can cause division;
however, Sovereign Grace can never
cause division.. And I will never
back down on that... How could anyone?

God Bless you terry evans.

This is getting too DEEP for me. I
believe I might have agreed with a
post without thoroughly understanding
what was being said.

Let me make one thing clear, I am
a Calvinist by conviction and believe
that God's Word teaches that God
is in absolute control and nothing
will or can happen without HIS
approval and PURPOSE...

One thing I have learned for sure is
to make no comment without reading
the complete context of the subject.
And to argue would never be right.

Jesus will come for His Children; that
I know for sure...

Yes, as a matter fact, there was a man who taught it. His name was Paul, the apostle.
Continuing:
Eph 1:5 (God), Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Ro 8:23 And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body.
The adoption is when we will receive the inheritance as a full fledged son and become joint heir with Christ.
Bot these passages agree with one another and says the same thing.
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Predestination is to the glorified body.
JD, CORRECT answer
God Bless you...
Only God can reveal this TRUTH.

It is marvelous and so wonderful to know that God is in CHARGE...

He can sink ANY ship...OR He can keep
them afloat.

He will also do as HE chooses in our
lives. Thank God for HIS providence
and HIS Sovereign Grace.

Thank you Sermon Audio for providing a comments section for the purpose of interaction among your readers. I can say that without this service I probably would never have known that most of the Calvinists that post here have an extra biblical authority by which they compare all their theological statements and by which they test the doctrinal fellowhip of their associations.
I have really been surprised at how little bible knowledge the most educated among them have and how reluctant they are to make a scriptural defence of their doctrines based simply on context and words and themes without the aid of other reformed writings. In other words, I have been surprised they seem to all have an insecurity about having personal convictions based on their own independent study that is not in harmony with the "collective".
Because of these things I have reached some conclusions about the nature of this religion that is best kept to myself at this time. My comments concern the posters here only. The calvs who preach here may or may not hold these same views, I don't know. I haven't heard them.
Of course, all this can be considered a matter of my opinion.
Calvinism is not a religion; it is a
conviction. The ELECT believe the
Word of GOD.

I do not think we should be answering this question for our fasting should be in secret
Mat 6:16 ¶ Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Mat 6:17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
Mat 6:18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
Amen, and I did not answer this question. Most of the views posted on

boast and get their reward from man.

Thank God for a few men and women who

Mic said: "Get out there and help the poor."
Mic,
Rick Warren does not help the poor. He makes an ostentatious display to make people think he's helping the poor. Rick Warren is a panderer who seeks the approbation of politicians and celebrities. If he was truly a follower of Christ he would be hated by most politicians and celebrities. Furthermore, I resent your blanket accusation that anyone who exposes today's frauds in the pulpit doesn't care about the poor.
Right on! Jerry, and God Bless.

All you discernment experts, who expose evil: What about being infants in reguard to evil, instead of finding something polital and bashing it. Help the poor, Rick Warren does. What do you guys do, sit around in your pagamas all day polishing your conspiracy theories? Isaiah wrote about you ivory couch theologians. Get out there and help the poor.
It is very obvious that some have their
head buried very deep in the sand.

Hillary does not in any way resemble
a Christian; she has no values and
puts her approval on everything that
is abominable.. Any so-called preacher
who welcomes and fellowships with her
is just doing it for show and to further his agenda.

Rightly divide the WORD; there is more than one verse regarding a preacher.
II Timothy 3:16 would be an excellent
place to start... I wonder if he will
even touch that when she is there?? I
wonder if he ever does????

Sorry Mic, America is full of feel-good
preachers, very very few preach TRUTH..
It does not matter what Good Works one
may do if he does not preach TRUTH...

It's amazing what passes for "church" in these enlightened times?
Amen; this is not a "church", it is a
joke and a disgrace to all that is
sacred.
No pastor should have control of the
tithes and offerings of a church. He
should be supported and paid a salary;
however, he should not have any authority to have signatory power on
the church's bank account. Only a
hireling would want this....
I guess I will get in trouble for this
comment too, but if folks will rightly
divide the word of God, they will find
all the correct answers...
God Bless and have a wonderful Lord's

Interesting.
Years ago I heard an anecdotal account of evangelist Charles
Grandison Finnie bringing an umbrella to a prayer meeting where
the assembly was praying/appealing to God for rain.
According to the same account, Finnie later chided the assembly
for their lack of faith, as he was the only one who stayed dry
during the rain storm that soon followed his and the assembly's
fervent prayer for rain.
As a beliver of the reformed persuasion I'm no fan of Finnie by
any means, but the story is still interesting...and Dessie's
remark reminded me of it.
To be honest, I also heard that story
regarding bringing the umbrella to the
prayer meeting. However, I did not
remember the name of the evangelist.

When I made my initial comment it was
really sarcasm... Being of the reformed persuasion I truly believe
that God is in absolute control. How
can people that do not belong to the
Lord PRAY???

I have as much control over getting saved and staying that way as I do of taking my next breath. I believe we Christians know this but, from time to time we go back to the mindset, "What about me?"
I listen to anywhere form 2 to 10 sermons a day on sermon audio because I love THE WORD. Some scripture, I believe we can debate over. However, I did not know I was one of the Elect until I was saved. We don't know who the elect are so, don't we preach and teach that all may come? The elect will then come as drawn by The Holy Spirit. Maybe we will not understand it ALL this side of heaven.
I have enjoyed reading all of the comments and scripture too. The writing skills, communicating skills, and the knowledge of the Bible, far beyond where I am. (since GOD saved me)
I know that I have no more power to stay saved than I did to get saved. JESUS CHRIST DID IT ALL!!!
Thanks for staying in the fight!
Thank you for this precious "comment";
it is one of the best I have ever read
on this site. I agree with every word
and especially, "Jesus Christ Did It All". God Bless
