I am sorry I am not good at posting links with my phone, but search SA for Iain Murray's series in the history of revival. Very good and on point to the comments here. Also, as a thought, the third option that seems to have been missed is persecution. Persecutions have a way of causing the surface believer to whither and refine the true Christian. It seems by the comments here that many of you are earnest Christians who love the Lord, His Word, love righteousness and holiness, and prayer. The thought of that fills my heart with joy and longing for fellowship with you all. But while we must be apart for now, let us find other earnest Christians who long for Christ and love the brethren, and seek as much as Providence will allow to meet together often for prayer, and study, fellowship, and praise. The Lord is good and has given us His promise to be with us to the end of the age. Lawlessness abounds and we are in much need of the warmth of fellowship and the fire of His Word and Spirit to keep us from our love growing cold. May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus be with you all. |

Dave -Did I point to a creed as an type of authority on par with Paul, or Christ, or the Apostles? Obviously not. I pointed you to them so you would have an understanding of the historical Protestant position. Furthermore, it is my contention that those creeds are accurately representing the Bible's teaching in the things they affirm. This is really not that diffident from you writing in these forums and declaring, in writing, what you believe the Scriptures teach. The difference, of course, being that the creeds are codified, historical, and not from one single person. Like I said, I agree with the Scriptures you shared. I just think you are misapplying them. |
