Christopher000 wrote: By the way, glad to read that, John, but it also speaks to the ongoing issue that you don't seem to ever do your own research on anyone or anything. Seems whatever you believe is based solely upon your own personal opinion, or what you've heard others say about something/someone. This is a dangerous way of determining right from wrong, good from evil, truth from fiction, and separating false doctrine from God's clear Word. The scary part for me in salvation is from 1983 to 2009 I BELIEVED I was saved. Why? Based on a little prayer that had no power to save. I had all the evidence of a church-goer (which I confused to be a Christian). I had the Bibles, I attended church, I "spoke in tongues"...etc. Anyone who saw me REALLY believed I was saved. But my heart was dead, cold and full of sin. I was using God for my own purposes and ends. God will never be a means to anyone's ends. Listen to Paris Reidhead's sermon Ten Shekels and a Shirt. http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=10180222445 Very good sermon. You must be born again through the sole work of Christ on the cross. That's it! |

Jon wrote: PaulB: yes, some amazing treasures are being thrown away, including Bibles! I recently obtained a significant collection of works by Spurgeon, 2 very nice leather bound NASB bibles, and a digital hymnal programmed with over 2000 hymns. All for about ten bucks. The digital hymnal sold for almost 1000 dollars new! Nice! Truly a treasure eh? I found a very nice KJV, leather Bible at the dump once. Yes it has some scribbles in it, but 99% of it is just fine. God can and will bless us in the most imaginative and amazing ways sometimes. |

I remember having a "conversation" with pro-choice people before and asking them point-blank, Is the "thing" in the womb a person? They answered no, it's a non-person. I asked them, then is it a plant, animal or mineral? They said that the closest thing it could be is an animal. I then blew up at them and said, and YOU'RE NOT PROTECTING THE POOR ANIMAL?! They were caught and shocked. They then got mad and defensive and said I was convoluting the facts. I just plainly said, it has to be SOMETHING. It can't be nothing. If it's not a person (of course it is), then it has to fall into the animal category. If that's the case, then why aren't you protecting it? You protect dogs, and eagle eggs and white moths, how come you're not protecting this animal? Obviously because they know better. They know full well it's a human being inside, they just don't want to admit it as doing so would make them accountable. It's rebellion and sin and murder, and they know it. |

Dave wrote: The truth can be offensive for those looking for justification of their lifestyles Yep...when you threaten someone's idol, they will get upset and angry. This should be an eye-opener to them, but unfortunately, it just hardens most. |

Dr. Tim wrote: If you don't know by the Word of God, you will never know at all--I John 5:13, Romans 1:16, I Corinthians 15:1-4, Acts 11:14. What I find with most "Christians" is they think they played a part in their salvation. I have asked people before, if you died and stood before God and He asked you why He should allow you into heaven, what would be your answer? Those who are false converts say, "Because I..." Those who have a genuine salvation say, "Because Christ..." |

Dr. Tim wrote: John Yurich wrote: "Everybody at that Baptist Church accepts that I am truly saved." Sir, with all due respect, it matters not a whit whether everybody, anybody, somebody or nobody at that church accepts that you are saved. What matters is whether Jesus knows you (John 10:27, cf. Matthew 7:23) and if YOU know that you have eternal life--I John 5:13. If you don't know that you're saved, don't let anyone convince you that you are; if you DO know you're saved, don't let anyone anyone convince you that you're not. The thing is, how do you know you're saved? What is your evidence? |

NeedHim wrote: Paul B; Spurgeon; Discernment isn't simply a matter of telling the difference between what is right & wrong; rather it's the difference between right & almost right. Love that quote because it's so true and fits most of mainstream Christianity. |

That's because that's his "side job", he's on a mission in Mexico, and his cover is a car washer, which includes washing and brushing the teeth of donkeys. And he keeps on using his shoe phone, I don't know why, the thing doesn't even work anymore, hopefully he'll figure it out and just use an iPhone. |

Christopher000 wrote: A couple of years or so ago, Olsteen was being interviewed and was asked if he considered homosexuality a sin, and if practicing homosexuals were hellbound. I wish I could remember the answer verbatim, but he answered without answering to the specifics. The answer was beyond vague, and I likened it to the Popes response to the same, "Who am I to judge?" Hellfire and brimstone, the hard hitting truth, that is, is exactly what people don't want to hear anymore. Either tell them exactly what they want to hear, be vague enough that everyone believes they are accepted, or don't even touch on the potentially offensive topics, and your church will bust at the seams. That's as bad as when Billy Graham was interview by Robert Schuller back in the day. He asked Graham if there's more than one way to God, and Graham answered yes. Schuller was ecstatic. If one is to be a popular televangelist, one must appeal to the masses, not the elect. |

Osteen attracts the masses by giving self what it wants. Self reigns on the throne of the sinful unregenerate heart and Osteen knows who butters his bread. He will appeal to anyone who wants to pay for a ticket. Osteen is a businessman that knows how to market himself and his message and sinful man will lap it up. Osteen is their judgement for turning their back on God. |

It seems man will have his sin regardless. As Paul used real world illustrations so did Jesus. Can you honestly say that either would have attended the Olympics back then? Watching men run around naked, committing all sorts of sexual atrocities with each other in worship of false gods like Diana and such?Seriously? I used those examples to make my point. Did I say you mentioned bartenders and strip club owners? No, of course not. But the parallel is exact. No more should a Christian be a football player or a basketball player or even a polo player than he should be a bartender or the like. Can you read my comments without getting offended that your god is being called out? |

Geoff wrote: It was a joy to see so many posting here rejecting these vanities of the world and walking in the narrow way of righteousness. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, it was a great encouragement to me. You're quite welcome, Geoff. It's hard sometimes but we must stand for the truth. We must go against the flow. We must stand firm even when our brothers and sister ridicule us. Even Jesus' own family thought He was nuts. |
