Great Sermon! This is an excellent sermon on this difficult topic!
The church has followed the world in easy divorce but, she first followed the world in the modern recreational dating system which leads many to fornication. How much better it would be if our young people held to a supervised courtship where they with guidance from their parents first figure out if they are compatible before they let their emotions and affections loose.
I think that when young people date, get attached emotionally then break up perhaps several times they are setting themselves up for a pattern of breakup which then continues in marriage.
I, too, have my doubts Christopher. Out here we have had three incidents in as many weeks of "extreme" use of electronic media - people either taking selfies or props for social media postings. Two resulted in the death of baby animals and the other wrecked one of the gorgeous paint pots in Yellowstone. We see these a lot out here actually - just to get their face in a picture for their social media page de jour. If the usage is down, what other social media is being utilized instead? They're somewhere, addicted to something... Reminds me of the Romans at the pinacle of their "success" and how self absorbed they were, to their own detriment and those around thtem.
Aside from the fact that this is letting the underling rule over the boss (Prov 30:21-23), has anyone asked what the enforcement of this law is? Even in the bill itself, it lies open ended. Can they send the perpetually flunking parent to counseling? Can they require the parent to come to the school after work to sit with their child in detention? Can the child be removed from the family for a time until the parent "gets their act together"? Wow, if I had my kids in school in Miss, I'd be shakin' in my boots about now.
IMHO, this was an endorsement for the candidate Carson believes will win the presidency and then give him some position of power for that endorsement, like Surgeon General. He's playing politics well now because they are, every single one of them, cut from the same piece of cloth. During this time of judgment on our country, it might be more prudent now to simply ask God to protect His own. It seems, by viewing the presidential candidates, the fall off the cliff will just be accelerated by different rates, but the fall continues.
Anyone who takes their child for wellness checks at their doctors office in Nevada (don't know about elsewhere) will be subject to such questions as: Do you have any guns at your house? Do you know where they are? Do you have any pets, like a dog? What kind of dog is it? Do your parents ever fight or argue? How does it make you feel - are you scared? Do you go to church with your parents? Is church fun?
We took our children to a wellness check once. When I stopped the questions after two too many I was informed that once the questions were started, they could not be stopped or else a record for CPS (child protective services) would have to be submitted that we refused the wellness check. Thank goodness the children were so little their answers were fairly obscure but it was obvious that the questions were prompting certain responses/reactions. There's no reason to believe that, when the school system has a child all day long, they won't simply do this and he parent will be none the wiser - until it's too late. "Yikes" is right SF!!
I hope I'm not being pessimistic here, but she doesn't feel bad she murdered her children as much as it seems she feels bad for herself and the consequences SHE will endure (i.e. being alone at the end of her life). This woman also says her first abortion decision was "made for her" and while she says no one should be forced, she then goes on to say if there is rape, fetal deformities or the girl is under 18 the baby should be aborted. There was no repentance I read, only regret and they are not the same thing. May God have mercy on her and bring her to true repentance!
There are a lot of these articles lately and I can't help but think it's the media trying to assuage Christians into a "comfort zone" whilst continuing the awful regimen of women/feminism. Christians can simply say, "See?! There are plenty of women who regret what their abortions!" but there's nothing really taking place that was any different than the day before...
Thank you Frank! We appreciate the prayers of seasoned veterans! I am looking forward to the day I get to meet the child I never knew and praise God for His mercy toward us.
Pennned, God has been indescribably gracious to us, to me. He knows exactly how to heal our wounds in such a way that we bring the glory to Him. Amazing!
Thanks Dave! I've enjoyed reading your comments and you sure seem to have a heart for the Lord! Bless you! Since baby number five almost 2 years ago I have found my life, um... full (that's a good word); it has been nearly impossible to do more than quickly read through the news and comments but there are many here who I pray for regularly and you're one of them!
Exodus 1:17-21 The Hebrew midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had told them; they let the boys live. So the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, Why have you done this and let the boys live? The midwives said to Pharaoh, The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before a midwife can get to them. So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied and became very numerous. Since the midwives feared God, He gave them families.
cont... correctly implant. Super rare, but it has happened, probably more than we know. We knew there was just no way our baby would live, but it retained that breath of life given by God... How can you choose who's breath is more important?? But having walked a mile in those shoes, I sympathize with the families who have had to deal with this. It's grim.
Frank, no grief here! One of the things God has given me peace over is the fact that I was used by Him to carry one of His covanent children straight into His arms. It was terribly sad for us but if I really, really believe God will do all His holy will, then I can rest easy even when I am unable to understand. I know many women who struggle their entire lives with miscarages but, like Hannah who gave up Samuel, our children never did, never have and never will actually belong to us. She knew this; they are fully God's. That's why a human "choosing" what they'll do with "their" child is an understandable but incorrect biblical view of children. Yes, they are given to us as blessings but they retain their Creators trademark. We are God's agents toward them and what a blessing that is!! We are four weeks out from number six - what a trip God had planned for us!
s c, thank you. Jim just doesn't get it - he lives in a life where he actually believes there must be God's rules and man's rules and uses man's ideas to prove his points. Frank hit the nail on the head there, sorry to say.
Pennnelope, ectopic pregnancies have a super slim chance of success (there must be a better word there I'm missing) but there is a very slight chance that the baby can actually move and
Maybe if these "setbacks" would just simmer down, he could get to the really important stuff! Like that 3D indoor golf driving system!! I mean, how's a man supposed to decompress?! I'm with you, Christopher, what a joke. Sadly, the joke's on us... and I'm finding it hard to laugh nowadays. God puts rulers in for many reasons. The only one I see here is some major wrath and judgement!
Ectopic pregnancy? Our 4th was ectopic. We wrestled with the doctors from the beginning. They maintained the "fetus wasn't viable" and we should work to quickly preserve my life. But that heart kept beating. We went in every day for an ultrasound and heard their little heart thumping away. Yes, we knew we'd never see the baby this side of Heaven, but we also could see, clearly, that it was ALIVE and the thought of cutting it out, laying it's tiny little body in a cold pan so it could die was not an option for us. I could tell you the whole story - God's providence was mind blowing in all of this - I literally was hours from death but God chose the time of the baby's end and preserved my life. It was HIS choice, life and death, not mine. My God is not a weakling, relying on a doctors diagnosis and opinions. He is mighty to save. Not all women are so quick to draw the trigger when they hear that life beating away and want to preserve themselves. We knew the risk was tremendous; we knew my husband might very well face a future without his wife and our three kids without their mother. I personally could not have lived with myself had I chosen to stop that heart from beating so I might live. "GREATER love has no man than this..."
Another "interesting note", Jim, that while these females admit that it's a baby and it's "killing" they show neither remorse nor repentance. Because they state a fact does not mean their conscience isn't deadened; as a matter of fact, it might heap burning coals for they know the truth but have no fear of God. In other words, it's still all about them.
A great example from Scripture: 2 Kings 6:28-29. "Then the king asked her, 'Whats the matter?' She said, 'This woman said to me, Give up your son, and we will eat him today. Then we will eat my son tomorrow. So we boiled my son and ate him, and I said to her the next day, Give up your son, and we will eat him, but she has hidden her son.'"
These abortionist's minds are perverse and twisted and Proverbs is replete with what happens to them and anyone who would take counsel, advice or give support to them - it will end in utter destruction. I pray that God would do a work in them for the sake of the children they murder. At the same time, I pray He will avenge His name.
