Jim, you pretty much hit it on the nail. Both those men you mention do have some Godly virtues that engender respect. So one of the things that Americans should look for in a president is the quality of respect.

As I indicated below, we need to be very careful when we look past their sins and life and try to label them as true believers when their acts prove them to probably be otherwise.

Albert, well said!! We can only pray for them while they are still alive. I'd like to believe someone (here on earth of course )was doing the same thing for me.

Not sure about his doctrine, but he was an Episcopalian.

Don't mean to offend, Albert, but what I gater from many of the posts is that unless you are "outwardly wicked", like a Clinton, as a president you are automatically a God fearing or Godly man and on your way toward heaven and not hell. Same was said of Reagan (dealt in astrology, lied, etc), who I don't believe was a Christian and is now said of the current president (prays at temples, attends Catholic Mass) who I really don't believe is a Christian. Still God is the judge of all men, including me.

Spousal infidelity is no excuse for divorce. Marriage is a symbolic of the bond between Christ and his Church. It is one that under no circumstances can be broken, and certainly not by man. Does not Christ forgive murder, blasphemy, idolatry? Are these sins "against" God any less than infidelity?

Extremely disturbing. I would never have run for office with a Vice-President who condones and accepts this biblical unlawlessness. Greater is He that is in you than he who is in the world. Hard to believe that with what we see going on relative to the wickeness of this world, but that is the promise of scripture.

“ Finally-Truth ”
Finally, a preacher who has preached a biblically based and centered sermon on what makes a man or woman a child of God and of the promise.

JD: Anti God party? Hey I'm an independent and I will tell you that the Republican Governor of my state of Maryland was as anti-God as it gets and yet many so-called Christians voted for him the first go-round. He was for abortion, stem cell research, gambling-you name it. There was no substantive difference between him and his Democratic opponent who ending up winning. I could not cast my vote for either of them. I'm tired of so-called Christians falling into the deception that either of the parties truly have the interests of God's kingdom (not of this earth) in mind. Do you have time for me to list all the scandals, immorality, impropriety and Godless behave the party that has now lost control is guilty of? God has spoken. If you are desirous of pleasing God then you will pray for the party now taking power, that the laws, etc., that they pass will be in accordance with his will. I'm sure you did that for the Republicans.

One thing is certain: God is in control. Democrats or anyone else could not be elected to higher office without his hand. Just as believers were praying for the past Congress they need to pray for this one as well.

Steve, you used the wrong biblical reference in your attempt to infer that you can be a christ-rejecting jew and still make it into God's heaven. If you read the passage you quoted, you will see that God promised that out of Abraham would come many not one nation. This has been true as God has been calling out a people to himself both from the Jews and the Gentiles. You and others who advocate redemption and salvation outside of Christ alone do insult the work and person of Jesus Christ.

This article is not entirely true. John Hagee believes that physical Jews don't need Christ as the only way of salvation.

Maybe God is using this, the Foley scandal, and other filth to expose the Republicans for what they are. I don't care what argument you want to make, they are not any different than the Democrats. They just do a better job of fooling so called evangelicals into believing that they are God's representatives and spokespersons here on earth. Actually heard a man say he was voting for the Republicans in my state of Maryland because he is a Christian. Wow, our Governor, who is a Republican, runs on a platform supporting abortion, stem cell research, picks a Romanist as his LT Government..and yet he is perceived to be a Christian. No, I'm not a Democrat, nor am I a republican. As a matter of fact, I'll probably vote for a Republican governor who believes that killing babies is okay. Yet I won't vote for the Republican senatorial candidate who doesn't believe in abortion, yet believes it's okay to send our youth off to die in an unjust and unprovoked war. Almost ready to believe that Christians should just stay home and leave participation in this worlds government to where it belongs..the truly ungodly.

Christians should be very careful to separate themselves as much as possible from politics. There is a "Christian" radio station that actively is telling its listeners to vote for the GOP. Many foolishly will. There are others that are out there saying vote for the Democratic policy. Very difficult for the Christian to make a Godly choice. I don't subscribe to the lesser of 2 evils. They both in some way equally serve Satan.
